    Thanks for the great video. You saved me a lot of unnecessary disassembly and an unnecessary repair bill. $40 and 45 minutes later, and I had my heating coil replaced and my dryer working again.

    Thank you very much for a great video. This is exactly what was wrong with my dryer and I fixed it thanks to your video. It only cost me about $40 as opposed to hundreds of dollars for a repair man. Thanks again.

    Thanks for your video. My dryer wasn't heating. I followed your instructions on how to check the coils and thermistor. I found out it was just a connection lose on the thermistor. Easy fix!

    I can't thank you enough for this! I obviously had the exact same problem with a very similar model dryer (15+ years old now). When the dryer stopped drying my immediate thought was to do the math of "Do I bother paying $150 for a repair guy to just come out and take a look at it, or should I just buy a new one now?" Instead, I watched your video, ordered the parts from Amazon and $35 later my dryer's working again. Watching this again post-fix, I'm going to assume that the jump-cut at 3:40 was to edit out the swearing? That casing definitely doesn't slip out easily, it requires a bit of "English" aka rigorous tugging, twisting and a bevy of curse words. I did find that it was easier to remove that bracket and just leave the "tube" portion and work away at that to free it from the back of the dryer. If you look at more "official" videos on this repair, they start with taking the top of the unit off, disconnecting circuit boards, removing belts, taking out the *drum* etc etc. What a nightmare. Your method is clearly ideal, minimally invasive, and a really do-able fix for any homeowner. This video was a lifesaver, thanks again for making it - you've helped a ton of people, and you can now add me to that list!

    Thank you for such a great detailed video! I was able to get the kit from Amazon the same day and cost was less than 40.00. It did take me a lot longer as this was the first time on these newer dryers, but if I have to do it again it will be a breeze!

However did have an issue with the housing going back into the back of the dryer, but I bent the tab slightly towards the back of the dryer and it went in fine after that. How did you get the blower housing off. I can't seem to get it off.

  • @rainz62

    @rainz62

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@christopherflorian2382 It was not easy and left me pretty mad. There was a clip in the back holding it in place and the only way to get it out was to lift up the enclosure holding the element. The problem was the dryer drum was in the way. I had to completely dissasemble the entire dryer. If you wind up having to do this you may as well do like I did and replace the dryer belt so you dont have to dissasemble it again anytime soon. DO NOT put the bracket holding the element casing back, there is no need for it, the front bracing is sufficient to keep it from moving. It will also make future replacement of the element much easier next time. Good luck, it was a pain but doable.

    No need to remove the entire heating assembly. There is one screw at the front left, near the heating coil wires - remove that screw and the heating coil will slide right out for replacement. NOTE: you need to remove that vertical metal bracket in front first - it has two screws - one attaching to the bottom of the dryer and one attaching to the entire heating assembly.

    The heater assembly has right angled tabs that index into the lower housing flanges. How can you “slide it out”? The tabs prevent that. Also, in the video he doesn’t really show how difficult it is to get that front spring metal tab inside the duct opening in the back of the dryer. I had to bend that tab down a little bit in order for it to get underneath the lip of the duct opening. (See tab in the video at 6:50). It was very difficult. That’s why there are a lot of videos out there telling you to disassemble the entire dryer so that you can work on the housing and easily get it in an out of that duct opening in the back of the dryer. There isn’t enough room to fit that heater assembly and housing into that duct opening without a lot of difficulty. Also, there is a huge difference in longevity and durability between the low priced knock off heaters on Amazon versus the OEM heater from whirlpool. This was verified by a technician I know who is a professional appliance repair person. He advised against buying the $20-$30 ones on Amazon and going with the Whirlpool version.

    The clip in the back of he housing goes inside the rear the back of the dryer. Most repair videos show taking the drum out. There is too little clearance to maneuver the element housing into the back properly.
