@@theloveofminimalism6984 Actually the secret is practicing, like with many things in life! : ) The longer you practice, the more you feel it's inner beauty. Of course it's necessary to start with little, but with time body gets used to this movement and there is no dizziness.

Is this religious in nature?
@CecileMere
5 ай бұрын
It is more spiritual, meditative movement, as I do it. So definitely there is more than just aesthetics there. It's also possible to practice whirling as a religious ritual, but in nature this movement doesn't obligate it and in my case, it's correct not to call it religious, but rather spiritual. But I guess the root of those approaches is still the same, only the focus and form are a bit different.
This dance called "dance of Sufi" and have nothing to do with persians.

The instrument in this piece - flute ney - is from Persian tradition and I mention it because there are neys from other traditions also and they are little bit different. Dance (as I interpret it here) is universal in its inner dimension and doesn't belong to any particular culture.

Jalaluddin Rumi is the one who started the Mevlevi sufi order of the whirling dervish, and he was originally Persian.

@@angelinemarsland Rumi was Afghan, not persian. He also mentioned his turkic origin. There are a lot of Turks in Afghanistan if you don't know. As I see, for Westerners everything from Afghanistan or Iran is automatically "persian". It is wrong to think that way because Iran was ruled by Turks for the last 1,000 years.
