    I have to get a Whipple procedure done on 02.29.24 due to having AFAP. I have a tumor in my bile duct & over 100 polps in the beginning of the small intestines. Last year on 03.17.23 I had to have my colon & rectum out due to colorectal cancer and now I have an ileostomy bag. Due to the AFAP one day this will take me out. I feel like I'm on borrowed time & my days are limited. I have to be honest, I'm terrified to have the Whipple procedure and all it is going to do is prolong my life maybe 5yrs if I'm lucky... I am extremely conflicted about having this surgery 😢

    I will be having the same procedure due to a tumor at the head of my pancreas and partially blocking my gallbladder. JESUS has taken this cancer and worked miracles through it! I was diagnosed December 11th, almost five months ago and the tumor has NOT spread nor has it gotten any BIGGER. My relationship with my mother was healed, we are so close now, likewise the problems with my sisters, we are all healed. I am a totally different person through Jesus Christ and I encourage you to seek Him and draw close, choose salvation through Jesus Christ, pray for healing, He will take away your fear. God bless you, dear.

    Most people don’t discover their pancreatic cancer until stage 3 or 4 and by then it’s too late for the surgery so you’re very lucky. Most people don’t survive pancreatic cancer diagnoses. Are you still alive? If you answer “no” then I’ll be concerned.

    I feel your pain and anxiety mate, I had an insulinoma 1 and half inch big at my pancreatic head. I had severe hypoglycemia everyday, 3-4 times per day. It was a nightmare. Being in the waiting list for a whipple procedure didn't help at all to reduce my anxiety too! I feel better now. It is a major surgery, no matter what people will tell you, we know how it feels! I was 32 years old and just had a new born child he was about 9 months old. It was very hard few weeks after the surgery, but getting better slowly! Now it does a year and 2 moonths. I'm probably feeling almost normal. Good luck on your road mate! I wish you everything best! @@CollPStone-kk1jk

    What is bypass surgery for this?

  • @pwguitars

    @pwguitars

    3 ай бұрын

    It refers to those cases when the tumor is unresectable, but there is a clear risk of a blockage in the gastric outlet during the surviving months. In that unfortunate case, sometimes you have your small bowel connected to the stomach to "bypass" or divert that blockage. It is a palliative procedure, as the disease is deemed incurable. Sometimes it is associated with a biliary bypass to relieve jaundice and a solar plexus neurolysis to decrease pain.
