Great video and I totally agree, I have multiple kettles and my performer with the built in table is my go-to kettle -- it's just so convenient to have a surface to put something down on. Great video as usual Johnny. You are my GURU when it comes to how to regulate temps on my Weber Kettle Cooks. Do the "P" shaped bottom vent openings on the Master Touch make a significant difference in Temp regulation? I've had my Performer for nearly 3 years now and love your videos because your temp regulation instructions for your cooks are spot on. I am getting ready to cook two briskets next weekend. One on a Master Touch that is my In-Laws and one on my Performer and was hoping to use your Weber Kettle Indirect Smoking Method as a means for temp regulation on both Kettles but I am worried that the extra open space on the Master Touch will result in a much hotter cook if I use the same oval placement for my bottom vent handles. Thanks for your videos man! Keep up the awesome content!

Cool. Thanks for watching.
I got the performer a couple months ago off eBay for $$150 new in box, and just scored a new in box Master Touch in smoke color at a liquidation store in my area for $150 also. Not bad, $300 for $650 worth of new grills is ok in my book ( $350 black performer, $299 smoke color Master Touch) . Still have my heart set on finding a deal on a Performer Deluxe charcoal grill with the gas assist charcoal lighting system someday 🙏. They sure are great grills no matter what you have. Had a Weber ( what used to be called silver) model with the saucer type ash catcher for 18 years before I retired it for the performer. So, that alone speaks for the quality of Webers products in my humble opinion. P.S. Didn't know if you knew this or not, they dont come with the char-baskets anymore. Now they hace char-rails that sort of snap into the charcoal grate. Not sure what i think of them yet, camt move them aroumd when lit, but can double them up and make a larger direct cooking zone. Six of one and a half dozen of the other, I guess.
@Viewtoagrill
Ай бұрын
Yeah the charbaskets... I think they stopped sending them with the performer last year. I think there is another comment from last summer that said that ... but on the website they were still listed in the specs. Now this year they are not. You have to buy them separately. If you want charbaskets now I would get the SnS charbaskets or the SnS slow n' sear.

@@Viewtoagrill That's a sore spot for me. 50 years ago I purchased my first Weber Kettle. It was the first time Weber came out with an all red Kettle and I used it from 1966 to just a couple of years ago. I told my daughter I would give her that red grill in order to keep it in the family since it was so dear to my heart. She put it in a storage unit she shared with a friend of hers. The girl she shared the storage unit with had it placed very high and the Weber Kettle was damaged beyond repair. I tried to straighten the legs and the body of the kettle to make it functional but it was in too bad of shape. I noticed when Weber was having a demo and introduction to the new Weber Pellet grill. When one of the managers was showing off a Red Weber Kettle exactly like I had with the wooden handles and told the visitors they searched the country until they were able to find a Red Weber Kettle with the original wood handles just like mine but mine, before it was damaged, was in better shape than the one Weber was able to find. I hate to hear what Weber paid for the one they got. It made me sick!!

Johnny, thank you for doing these videos. I really learn a lot from watching you. I do want to say though, that I just bought a Performer just a month ago, and the new one does in fact come with the P shape vents AND the dots on the ash sweeper. It's a shame though that the Performer does not come with the grill baskets like the master touch does. Also, I wish the hooks were a little further apart. Overall, I absolutely love my perfomer. I actually went to the store to buy the ocean blue master touch, but saw the performer up close and fell in love with it. The next one up, the deluxe performer or whatever it is called imho is a waste of money. Bravo Johnny, bravo… Wonder if the Weber could be fitted with a smoke hole bottom vent like the SNS grill has, or where one could find the part to install for better air flow especially when using the slow and sear charcoal holder. Hello VTG, brother. Absolutely the Weber Performer is the better buy. The extra $75 may seem like a lot, but it's so worth the extra wallet pain. If I may add to your observations, the Performer you use in this video is an earlier generation Weber Performer. Just got mine this year and the latest generation has the updated P shaped vents with the corresponding position indicator holes in the ash can retaining mount. It really helps when adjusting your temps. The middle hole is exact for running grill temps of 225 to 300 depending on where your top vent is set. Less guess work overall. One point of correction, if I may; the shelf on your Performer is upside down. Properly installed, it will add about 4 more inches of height to store your chimney or other accessories compared to the position yours is installed. Respect to you VTG, bro, Rocket.

@@Viewtoagrill thank you so much! Here in Canada it’s about $100 US cheaper and being my first official kettle I think it’s a better choice as well. Gives me more money for upgrades too. I have a 4 burner broil king as well and as much as I like to try and stay away from gas bbq, it will come in handy. I haven’t watch that video but will definitely get to it soon as it will get really cold here before you know it. Appreciate it, again.

Hey Ty! Ha! I love my 26!
I've had a performer and I did not care for the attached table I like to be able to walk around my grill and get to the meat easier. For me personally I don't see any upside to having a table attached to my grill. Having a separate table suits my needs better

Hello Dean. I find myself walking around to the other side as well when I grill. Take care Dean. Thanks for watching.

@@deanvoss7098 take it easy brother. Meant no disrespect. Just pointing out that the table folds down in case you do want to walk around the grill. You still get the advantage of a nicer lid holder, and 4 legs.
