Good grief is it nice to see an Overwatch content creator actually giving positive advice for every hero, not dogging on characters they might not like, and remembering that Overwatch brought in a lot of non-FPS people by making characters that aren't sweaty but still effective.

I started overwatch because of the characters! I was pretty anxious, but really wanted to play! I mained Moira/Mercy for 10-30 hours. Once I became experienced, I branched out a bit into Ana, Bap, Zen, etc I really enjoy the game now, and appreciate that I had a few picks I could rely on while learning!

For climbing out of the lower ranks I feel like Moira is the best option right now. With Genji being so mobile with a high pick rate she is great to counter him since your grasp is not affected by reflect. At the higher ranks maybe not the best but if you need to get out of your soft MMR reset with people who say in chat "I'm whittling away the Rein shield with bastion, that's my job" this will help you get out of that pit.

Moira is also the easiest to play on a controller since aiming doesn't really matter. can easily get the highest DPS and healing out of the group with her specials as well in my opinion having one of the best group heals and bombs in enclosed areas.

100%, coming from ow1 floating around high plat/low diamond, and got put into bronze after my placements. Tried to play supports logically with the team comp and I just started to lose my mind with bronze dps players. Picked up Moira and started rocketing out of bronze and silver and almost back to Plat. Its kind of silly how aggressive you can play with her. I'll kind of miss playing aggressive dps Moira after the low ranks once I start going up against competent dps that can punish me being out of position and playing overly aggressive

You explained Moira really well imho. I've noticed that at least in lower skill games my own DPS players are often problematic because they don't pick the right characters or are simply incapable of killing enemy players. So then I have to count on myself as Moira to go get the enemy team backline out of the way. At least then my team can usually 4v3 if I get 2 of their supports out of the game or at least disrupt their team enough to make a difference. Seems that other comments view her the same way. I feel like she will probably be the best support to carry yourself with if your team is underperforming.

Watched this vid with like 4+ years experience of ow, still enjoyed it a ton. I already know that I'm more of a flex support player due to their bloodthursty nature, especially loving bap for carrying me to plat but also starting to play a lot more ana after that point, but recently started falling in love with lucio - his crazy mobility and his dual nature of enabling the team or just slaying the enemy yourself is something I just love. Brig's patient and defensive playstyle also is decently enjoyable for me and I've always enjoyed just sometimes whipping out the mercy and pocketing a friend on dps xD Guess I'm an all around flex player so I never really found my "one true support" hero or even role, and honestly I don't feel the need to, but this video definitely summarizes the different heroes in their playstyle, uniqueness and required skillsets.
This is THE best, well-structured, well-explained video on Overwatch 2 Supports so far. First time I come across your channel as a new OW2 player. Liked & subbed. Keep it up man!

I usually main Moira, but lately I have been pumping out huge heals with Brig. Easily one of my best healer right now.
@ClaraBennett

Of the multi-target support abilities, it seems like Brig’s Inspire has transitioned the most smoothly to OW2. The fairly large range, and the fact that it follows players for so long (nerfed from 6 to 5s, but still), seem to have made it such that the wider team formations didn’t negatively affect her healing output that much.
This was honestly the best Overwatch "coaching" video I've ever seen, and I watch a ton of them. Reason being, you're actually showing the act of what you're describing when you're describing it. Other videos like this just have unrelated footage of their games going while discussing tactics. So it's more distracting than anything. I'm watching the game going on, so I'm missing what they're actually saying. Anyway, good job.
Very nice, to the point and informative. Keep up the good work.
This is a great summary and break from other content out right now. Looking forward to the next one and loving the format!
I really enjoyed this video, SVB! I'm very excited for the Damage hero video, and how certain heroes have different roles in OW2 (compared to OW1). Keep up the great work!
Not to mention that mercy has the Glock which if you know when to use you can pull off some great plays with it. Often people ignore it completely when, especially in OW2, there are many opportunities to use it and pop off a little. Mercy is an angel but with a little devil inside who needs to be satiated sometimes
Awesome video SVB! Super helpful and clever written content.
Thank you for the breakdown SVB. I have a bit of knowledge since I played all 3 beta's and I watch a ton of OWL but knowing and doing are two separate things. It's great to hear from a higher player what the characters are capable of and when they are best applied. I hope to see more of these for the other roles.
Amazing video! For a new player like me the information is very useful, easy to understand, and concise. Deserves a sub
Thanks SVB, super informative, entertaining and professionally made content :) Have a great day!
The thing I love about OW2 right now is that every support seems to be viable! Personally I've been enjoying a lot Zen and Kiriko if the need to make plays and picks arises. Meanwhile, Mercy got a huge win in the mobility department! It's exhilarating diving in with your Sombra and Winston thanks to her ability to be even more erratic! They either focus fire the Winston / Sombra who will just get healed, or focus on you which is kind of a bad idea since they're getting terrorized anyway --- either way the target pretty much dies quickly thanks to damage boost!
music sounds like it came from the game 'core keeper'. Love it. Also, great vid - I learned a thing or two and I'm a healer main
im a filthy zen one trick, returning after having played from the opening to s3. and man, his kick feel so much better, honestly it make almost all dps 1v1 winnable without that much difficulty funnilly enough this hero is not the most aim heavy because it is a projectile witha generous hitbox and not a hitscan what's annoying is how flank heavy the meta is, there is just nothing you can do if a tank decide that you are dead

@noahmansland3301

@@dr.brightside113 i mean, with the new kick then does deal with genji pretty fine tbh, tracer is somewhat of a skill matchup as just 1 head+kick and she is either dead or forced to back away. but yes, any tank with mobility will make your game absolute hell, much more than any dps can. And with how divey the meta it is true that sometime games are hard to play because unlike with dps you have no counterplay to a dva double booping you also, with how active support are in ow2 zen tend to have quite good healing score by the end the game.

I know Kiriko is brand new, but her Kunai are so fun to play with and her healing is as simple as it gets. Swift step and the Shimada wall climb ability is excellent too. Similar to Tracer or Moira in a way, she can flank and deal heavy damage and immediately escape, but unlike Moira or Tracer, can be a vital asset to the team with the cleanse and her ult can change the course of a fight instantly.

Great tips man
New to OW entirely and I'm playing support with Zen. He feels so good and like u said incredibly clutch at times. With his discord orb and damage from far tight angles I often end up with the most assists in my games. Currently getting a lot of value from him but want a second support main in those cases where I'm sleeping in the selection screen and my random teammate takes zen lol
Great breakdown! A few things for each hero that wasn't mentioned. The basic idea of my thoughts are based on that Overwatch is about counter picks. List is: - Ana. You still need to heal your tank. Especially if it's Reinhardt, or DVA, for example. They needs a lot of healing. Just imagine you have DPS Moira or Lucio on your team. - Baptist. His E is awesome to counter devastating ultimates like Junkrat tire or DVAs ult. - Brig. Can play a role of initiator with her ultimate aswell as Kiriko or Anna for example. - Kiriko. IDK lol. Seems she's all rounder. Just puck her in 100% times when you have Queen or Hog on your team. - Lucio. His ultimate is awesome. You can counter crazy party wipe setup like Anna + Genji. Consider to pick him if you are getting ripped by some destructive ultimates from the enemy team. - Mercy. She can res. :) - Moira. Strong one. But hold your DPS meter at bay. Cuz. you can easily get distracted by damage dealing instead of healing in critical moments. Her ultimate has more healing then damage potential. Consider it. - Monk. He has fast self regen and THE kick (his melee) to push away enemies. He isn't that easy pick you can think of. He's ult also should be considered as great counter tool. Are you struggling against Reaper and no-one can stop him in his ult cuz you are low rank player or its qp? Use his ult and get these discords on tanks and carry your team! Thanks for reading. Cheers.
I've been playing a lot of Bap, and as a total newbie to OW I've been having a blast!

@Robopi3.14
Жыл бұрын
how is that good? that just means ur toxic/a bad teammate
Dude, this is by far your best tutorial video EVER, please make more for Tank then DPS
Great vid. Noticed you didn't mention immortality field and res. And the general Idea behind defensive and offensive support ults (which is very relevant for lower ranks). Often time if you're playing ana mercy, you'll be caught without a good defensive ult. and if it's attack payload on overtime, you really want something to help your team survive past the onslaught of ults the enemy place on you. I really like the bap mercy combo for defense when the enemy has a significant spawn advantage because your teams life is much more valuble than their kills. I often want a mercy on my team as a tank because she's a good hero and if a dps goes on a bad angle and dies, she just res's and we are not at a number disadvantge. Then I often prefer a main healer but I still want a defensive ability which is why I like bap as the second support, depends on the map and what I'm playing. Obviously with a good sig, zen and mercy have more potential, just harder to pull off IMO (don't know how it works out in ow2 though) Another area that can be touched is stall. Lucio, moira and bap were known to be great stall characters in ow1 and now kiriko brings amazing stall potential with her teleport and suzu. Analyzing the current state of stall, which and how many heroes are alive, how much time the enemies have, how the route to point appears and all sort of things can factor into which stall character you pick, but it's important nonetheless. Personally I find kiriko to feel like a higher apm hero than bap but not by much and it could be subjective due to me having experience on bap. Sorry for the ramble, really enjoyed the vid. Feel free to rebut or add :D
@darksplash873
Жыл бұрын
My favourite moment is when the dps goes on the bad angle mentioned by you and dies, and then the mercy goes on same angle to res them and also dies AOSUFHPFAU Usually doesn't happen though since mercy can los the res'd soul and use cover thanks to the slight range res has. It is always both hearbreaking but somehow comedic to see a mercy go for that one res and just get collapsed upon by the enemies (and yeah it happens to me too)
Could you do the same for dps and tank? I love these kind of videos
In OW I used baptiste and mercy pretty much exclusively as mercy was my more simplified choice as you just gotta maintain good position with her while switching to the appropriate boost while Baptiste is when I can branch out a bit more and can do more things, basically if we're getting whooped I go to mercy just to get things back to even flow or for a last push and trust my teammates while Baptiste is when I either trust my teammates so I can branch out or I don't and need to do more lol but I'm really liking kiriko picking off heros with headshots is so fun and she's not a terrible healer by any means as it doesn't require much aim and has some range and her super is great and even better depending on what heros your teammates are
Very good guide because it works with the player's strengths, weaknesses, and preferences.
Thanks so much SVB!

At least for season 1 I've become a total Baptiste main. His Regen burst and raw DPS/HPS is INSANE. During OW1 I never really gave him much mind and preferred brig and Moira, but Baptiste has quickly become my most played hero post launch, and already gotten me to a higher rank than I ever got in OW1

I really missed content like this 🥰
Thanks for this video. As a console player in the past I keep going for hero’s that I shouldn’t now, given my move to PC
I think for casuals and noobs, Kiriko is a poor 'DPS Support', so I'll just explain how I see her in a silver lobby context: She is main healer viable, her healing per second is high so you should be leaning on it heavily and using the rest of her kit including kunai deliberately and judiciously. Kiriko is not like Baptiste who wants to spit out healing and keep his gun blazing simultaneously. As Kiriko you want to identify targets that you think you have a decent chance of headshotting, and even landing a single one on like a sniper or something will cause them to run away, making your job as a healer easier. (Kiriko has a 3x headshot multiplier on her kunai that otherwise do terrible damage) Her cleanse doesn't just apply immunity to CC; it also makes allies invulnerable for 0.75 seconds. If you have high health and your enemy has spent half of their magazine, you can use it to make sure they can't kill you before they need to reload; great for duelling and gives you an opportunity to stand still and attempt a headshot. Speaking of deliberate and judicious, she should be taking aggressive positions and off-angles when fights are not ensuing and then use her teleport to regroup with the team once fights break out. In settings she should swap kunai and healing to M1 and M2 respectively because it's easier to aim with, and healing ofudas should be toggle to throw all of them in a single click instead of holding to release more because you need to focus your attention on headshot/cleanse opportunities and not looking for reasons to conserve a resource that you fully regenerate in less than a second. Pros believe you should disable the toggle to regulate your healing output but this saves split-seconds that are not critical in casual/ranked play compared to the alternative benefit I propose.
I used to be an Ana main in OW1, but I struggle to make her work as well in OW2. I've mostly moved to Bap and occasionally Kiriko.

As someone who loves kills and also likes to help... Kiriko Is really fun for me, I can kinda sit bad and casually play and still be helpful to the team without having to sweat as hard!
On of the secrets with Kiriko is she too can switch fluidly between a solid single target heal and lethal dueling damage, to escape, similar to Moira. It’s definitely much higher skill floor, but it is absolutely something you can do.

I found her healing lacking while being support class.
this just describes the basic things about the heroes where I think what I take into account when selecting a hero is 90% based on 1. what map are we playing, 2. what's my team comp, 3. what's the enemy comp. So this felt like it missed what you actually need to make a good decision as to who to play. I like playing bap the best but that doesn't mean he's the best pick for every game.

I'm a Overwatch 1 player and I will be sticking with Moira as my main. I am a hybrid mind set. I would rather do several things well then just one thing great. That being said Zenyatta was my original main and I still practice on him as well. Kind of a 60/40 time split but the only style of play I like is support anyway.
I already knew Lucio was a good pick with rein but I only just realised how effective it can be. My friend mains rein and I main zen but I might switch and see how it goes.
I personally use moira. I see alot of moiras trying to be solely dmg dealers on opposing teams and fail miserably at it. But when im healing my team that can survive alot longer and i can still get some dmg in while im busy healing.
I love playing Kiriko and mercy so much
Thanks to the lack of Tank, game experts notice NOBODY WANTS to play Support--And since I always take Random for the Hero Pass points, I've ended up playing Support 9 out of every ten games. I almost can't remember what Tank and Damage I used to play. I've discovered Brigitte is good on New Queen Street, where it's cramped melee, Lucio is good for payload runs where you have to keep your party constantly healed, and you can clean up anything with a gold-plated Zenyatta, but you'd be crazy to go into Nepal without one.
Y'know I actually find that assessment of Brig kinda strange. It's an entirely reasonable way to take her, but for me her absolutely most effective playstyle has always seemed to be "go ride or die with a tank, keep each other alive, and become as big a problem as the two of you can be while the rest of the team mops up." I find she's always thrived on aggressive play, getting stuck in on the front lines and keeping inspire up as much as possible.

Tanks will rip you apart. If zarya decides to fully push you, there isn't much most tanks can do to stop them. Original Brig could do that but this version not so much. Protecting against genji is pretty crucial when he's everywhere. Plus this is the playstyle of most gm brigs. If your other support can't be dived then killing your team becomes so much harder

This is exactly how I always play Brig

She doesn't have that kind of sustain anymore. Lack of ther cc now makes her an easy target.
Im struggling with the running sim element of OW2. Running/walking to a fight takes longer than actually being in the fight because the hero gets bullied hugely.
If you are new ish and just want to have high impact, bap is probably the best. you have easy-to-hit aoe healing, and some movement and survivability. just heal until you feel your teammates can take a few hits then go back to attacking. As a player w WAY more time on ana then bap in ow1 , bap is just getting so much more value for me in ow2
