We've asked Dean to elaborate further about the pin method. He tells us that nowadays he ties it to the link with a short piece of mono so it isn't lost and can be re-used every cast :-)

How does he tie it to the link?

@@Skye-5039 Dean uses a blood knot to fasten the weak link to the pin just above the foam and the other end is tied to the clip at the bottom of the rig.

Ironically I’ve been trying the veal’s rotten bottom clips and I would say 7/10 times my lead comes back still clipped up 🤷🏻♂️. I have sheets of 10mm HD foam and no shortage of panel pins so I’ll try a session on either the spit or Knap and see the results. I agree about the upside down clip or anything else that needs slack line / they are just not reliable enough .. I had decent knocks on the ledges and also over sand point and was stuck fast almost all of end time . It’s all food for thought 👌

The pin goes through the eye of the lead (The loop ) and then through an oval link that is tied to the weak mono ..

With regards to the Gemini Genie Breaker you can get the bait tucked in close to the lead by using a Breakaway Impact Lead.
