That could be a battle in Birmingham. I think it's Smith's job, but RJ Young with FOX Sports thinks Martinez will be the starter. Either way, I'm with you. Seems like a really good talent that has a good opportunity with the UFL.

What’s the rule with Backup QB’s from the NFL signing a one year contract just to be able to start somewhere/show the world what he’s got.. and then instantly going back to an NFL roster. Is that allowed??? PS love the name UFL

I'm not familiar enough with the different contracts, but Skip Holtz is hoping Alex McGough will come back to spring football from his practice squad position in Green Bay and Anthony Becht posted a plea for practice squad players to take the opportunity in the UFL. I doubt any active roster QBs would consider it or even be contractually allowed to play in another league.

It's pronounced Ta-Ah-Mu. Vowel sounds don't change in Hawaiian. An A will always have the Ah sound. That being said, I hope we see Jordan on a roster this year. He was on my Vikes for a second, but they went with Dobbs.

I could see that. Especially if he gets cut. Maybe follow the Ben DiNucci (and others) path of NFL to spring football and back to the NFL. He showed some flashes with Indy, so he could be on the radar of other NFL teams but he would be fun to watch in the UFL for sure.

i hope that ja'mar smith can make the kind of improvement that alex mcgough made last year for the stallions

I think he's a legit starter. He was QB1 to start 2023 before that season ending injury. I'd love to see him go a full season.

I do wonder if there's expansion in 2024-25 that New Orleans would get a franchise. Seems there are some options for home fields down there.

John, I have a hypothetical for you, so just hold on. The New England Patriots have demoted Mack Jones to the 3rd string spot on their qb depth chart . Its obvious he needs some work at the qb position . The Patriots have the 3rd pick in this year's NFL draft. In all likelihood they're going to look to solidify the qb spot. Probably pushing Mack to be traded or practiced squad. Practice squads in the NFL ( I think ) make about 12 to 15 k per game. My hypothetical: what do you think the likelihood of someone in his position moving over to the UFL to hone his skills? Obviously any team in the UFL would love to have him .

I don't know if someone the "caliber" of Jones would go to the UFL, especially with what his NFL contract might stipulate. However, as Anthony Becht posted, some of those practice squad players need to play. Financially, the QBs like McGough and McCarron would most likely stay on a practice squad with a chance to make an NFL roster rather than go to the UFL, but we'll see. I know Skip Holtz said he would try to talk McGough into coming back.

@@johnlewissports Yeah, I hear you , but here's the problem: to improve your game you've got to be in the game. No one can enhance their skills holding a clipboard. I don't consider the UFL something to look down you nose at, if, you're trying to get better. I'll close with this : its even harder to hone your skill in the unemployment line.

@@gregorycrawford5105 If Jordan Ta'amu is eventually selected by one of the UFL teams, then Saskatchewan will likely have to release his player rights. Otherwise, he's headed to the CFL.

@@AdderTude hey, thanks for the shout out. Jordan Ta'amu was here in BHM with the Tampa Bay Bandits . However he was on a very poor team . I wish him well. I think more and more NFL journeymen are going to find the UFL an attractive alternative as opposed to the CFL or the unemployment line.

Jalen McClendon deserves to be in the league. Preferably the Defenders, Brahmas, Panthers, or Battlehawks.

I'd like to see him get some more reps for sure. Not sure what the Defenders QB situation is going to be and it seems as if the Panthers need some kind of experience at QB. I think there are opportunities for him if he wants to stay in the UFL. We might see his name in next week's Super Draft or the free agency signings afterward.

UFL has 10 teams solid? Is that right??

Eight teams this year and if all goes well, maybe more. Hopefully this is the start of something viable that can lead to some expansion in 2024-25
