That's debatable. Yes PE makes nice markers but so to does Dye, Empire, SP, MacDev, Field One. All these companies make markers that are just as good a PE and a few are somewhat better. At the end of the day the best marker is what feels the best in your hands, making a biased statement like what you said just proves that ignorance exists in all sports.

Ohh Yeah I agree. But, dye and empire guns are not reliable in any way. Heck I had a etha and if I had the choice. I’d rather use that for 1 year than use a m3+ for a month. Just bounces around in my hand and sounds like a desent tippmann. I’m sticking with my cs1 and PE and maybe luxe. There guns are great too. Now, Looking to get a luxe ice or a cs2 👌🤔

Ohh Yeah I disagree. I’ve had a collection of guns over the years. Dyes for me have been the most unreliable, yes they are a great marker and when they work they perform well, I’ve had dm3’s all the way up to current models, same with PE guns and many others. I can honestly say some of the older mid range model PE guns I used to play with were absolutely more reliable than the dye markers I’ve played with, even current models. not saying they shot as great, but I never had to question weather it was going to run or not when I got to the field or go do down during the game, etc. PE guns are tanks in my opinion, luxe’s are amazing as well I’ve had tons of luck with them over dye or any other marker I’ve owned. I just find dyes and bob longs and most of the other higher end markers I’ve played with to be over priced and unreliable.

@@antonjeu cant ask people to like a certain thing. I do both personally but you have to think about what new players go through. Going this Saturday and I'll hit every rental I see with my lv1. Fair to them? No. Fair to a 8 year player who has put tons of effort and money into my marker and gear? I think so

I love my 160R, but it is a world of difference in terms of feel and ergonomics to the cs1. Similar comparison just from prior generations. Shot both and I loved the cs1, but I don't play enough to get one lol

Planet Eclipse isn't going to charge you $600 more for nothing lol. I've owned the 170R and the CS2 and the CS2 was in my eyes worth the extra money.

Peter Stergos id say dsr, can’t spend that much more just for a nice screen and a more tuner friendly option.. what do you guys think? If money wasn’t an option of course the m3 but used vs used? Still the dsr.. I’ve got both and the dsr is just better, just got one off eBay recently for 455$ and I picked up an m3+ for 800 locally in SoCal. What’s the consensus gents?

Lol dsr wins by default. It is the better "paintball gun" so to speak. It shoots and operates like a highend marker basically. a shame that dye arguably put the best modern, robust, "very smooth shooting with some feedback bolt" system(arc bolt.) they have ever made, in a slightly crappier midrange package. It's simply a performance monster. But yet. At the same time you have this beautiful m3s/m3+ that looks and feels amazing. Probably has the most advanced Barrel and electronic screen system on any Paintball marker in existance. But yet it shoots lika a not so good gun for 1500$ dsr costs 900$ for better performance. So that battle was one before it started. However, put the arc bolt in the new m4 that'll come out eventually and holy hell dye would have made unicorn levels of magic happen!! Haha. Lmao

I did , I love my etha2 , but when I got the infamous edition of the cs2 pro , it’s been amazing the difference , once in a lifetime buy , either gun will last you forever , hopefully you got one since you posted this message

Mech frame for CS2 will be an option, soon.

Got an Ego 11 for $140. Formerly a $1,500 gun, now $1,000 new or $500 used. Mine was scratched, nicked, dirty, leaky. Rusted screws. $35 in parts (O-rings, new shiny screws, oil, reg grip to cover scratches) got me a marker with a 3 piece barrel, adjustable clamping feedneck, amazing trigger, POPS asa and an OLED screen. Those are just the features. Its an Ego: the most proven poppet platform, and looks kinda pretty minus the scratches. An absolute steal and knocks any Mini or Axe out of the field for $175. I'm a lucky guy.

Sounds like a great deal!

Triggers are not the only upgrade in the 170r... you can also run the CS2 soft tip bolt in the 170r and makes for a softer shot and better for some paint... I own both so I can say that they are just alike minus the price... definitely both reliable markers 💪🏼

I'm currently shopping for a new gun, I'm torn between the 170R the cs2 pro and the luxe tm40. value wise I'm gonna day that 170r is prolly best value and the cs2 may be better than the luxe but they are pretty close to even. this video has helped tho. I think I may get the 170R. thanks!

You should do magfed guns like mcs 468 ptr vs the Tiberius arms t15

I would also say that you can upgrade the 170r barrel to a shaft fl and that's already on the CS2...so that's another upgrade.

Would really like to see a mechanical trigger frame for the CS2

You get what you pay for yes. But without a doubt they did an amazing job with the 170

Get a cs2, but that’s basically a gtek170r, but that’s basically as 160r, but that’s basically a gtek, but that’s basically an etha2. See what I did there

Never was a fan of the CS2 (had a regular and 2 Infamous). Picked up a 170r and I love it. It's mostly about player preference. Also helps that even though it doesn't do much I have the CS2 soft tip bolt in my 170.

I’ve owned the 170r and it was great but I’m more of a fan of the cs2 the grips felt way better than the 170r and was way easier to program and stuff I’d recommend both tbh

I really like my cs2.

How about the Gtek

I've played with both and tbh I think the 170r is better. I like the sound signature better and the ergonomics just feel better in general. Its also 400$ cheaper. I would take the 170r and geo4 over the cs2 personally!

You know that the soft tip bolt from the cs2 is compatible with the 170R right??

I was actually thinking of building a machine with load cells, accelerometers and mics to quantify the shot feel or a marker, then create an index with it. It would take into account overall kick, cycle time, changes in forces, and sound to give the best overall idea of shot quality you can get on a page. It would be the most effective in comparing a marker you want to buy to one you've already shot.

Shot quality should just be a mix of kick, sound and consistency

That would be sick. Imagine tuning the fire modes, and settings on a PE app on your phone through bluetooth?! Or you could do a bunch of data logging on your phone with graphs and charts etc.

it’s about accuracy but it’s 100% about the player who is shooting the marker

It’s a question that I get often “What’s the between the CS2 and the 170R”. Both of the Planet Eclipse markers are fantastic, but differ in price wildly, so what is the difference and is the CS2 with the extra $500?

Macdev clone 5s are going for $600 , $400/used .. Operating psi is 105..... It's the smart way to go

I own both. I like the way the 170 feels in my hand so that’s what I use. Axe 2.0 is definitely still competitive. I recommend holding and shooting both to see how the markers feel in your hands.

honestly you might end up selling your axe anyway. they’re great shooters but i would highly recommend saving for a 170r. it’ll love you forever and you’ll appreciate it for the absolutely work horse it is and it seems that it might keep its value if you wanna go the extra step for a used cs2

The 170r is by far a better gun that what they price it to be honestly, you just can’t beat that gun for the money in my opinion. I would buy 2 of these as opposed to buying just one CS gun, and have a back up gun or a gun for a friend to play with to get a friend into the sport or etc.

The CS2 is apex of paintball marker's & I'm sure from the ground up they designed it to not cut any corners. For once the engineers could use the materials THEY actually want to use & have the most pride in.... Alot sports cars are like this the ford GT // dodge viper they really don't make alot money. Its more of halo product or a 4 wheeled advertisement. Even with the CS2 I bet you might be surprised how much it cost them to make it after you add the engineering time. Materials are not the bottom line like people think

Ahh lol. Lots has to do with kick so it is hard to point to one single thing. Tank weight, barrel weight, pressure, velocity, bolt weight,...lot of stuff.

I like the Vanquish, I don't think its bad. I feel like the design in 8 years old though, and other companies like PE have kept innovating, and the Vanquish just seems outdated. I personally would rather have the 170R.

Id pick the 170R, but also really still like the DSR.

This was kind of a common sense result. “Will the super high priced marker be better than the marker that’s half the price from the same company?” Duh. You should have used a rating system instead of a straight up this or that system. “Reliability? 8.5 for the 170R, 9.2 for the CS2” as an example, that would really show how close the 170R would be to the CS2. Either way, thanks for the break down.

I feel like that would be really hard to do without testing everything. Plus, if you really look at it, you spend $150 per point on the CS2, but $160 per point on the 170r. They're actually really close when you do it that way

Final score should be 6 to 9 with that change in upgradability. ;)

All you did was sell me on both 👍 already own the destiny pheonix though so guess I'm orderin a new 170R next!

I’ve owned both guns and the CS2 is dramatically different. It’s more refined in every way. Is it $600 more gun? Probably not. Is it a better gun? Yes. Stop fooling yourself thinking the 170R is the same as a CS2.

if you want to justify your purchase sure. but even in your own comment you said they were "dramatically" different, but i would imagine for 600 there SHOULD be a dramatic difference, but you said it is not 600 dollar different. so which is it? i don't think you are telling the full truth here. i have friends that own 1 or the other or both, and i have also used both in a tournament environment. they are not that different at all. the differences came down more to what barrel you are using and what tank you use as well that affects both weight and shot accuracy. the gun itself not so much, and very few people use the barrel that is included with them. all in all the gun is a 1-200 difference. cant justify spending over 600 for only slight differences.

Paintball is too expensive for that average person that can just get a 20-70 dollar game and play that for months. 1 day to go paint balling with a rental and full box of paint is around $150

Worth is almost always based on what value you place on differences in paintball items and how much money you have (i.e. to a very rich person it doesn't take a big difference to justify spend an extra $500 or $1,000 but a broke college kid it needs to be a big difference). With that said, the engine in a 170r and 160r is the same so while the 170r has some upgrades the basic basic basic function are the same/very close.

You can’t go wrong with either one. I own both and loved both. 160r goes for around 400 used. This is a steal for this marker. I would go with the 160 and use the extra money to play paintball.

Just put the SFT3 bolt in my 170r. Shot it vs and CS2 and like mine better. A few of my team mates loved the 170r. Personally I like the shot better on the 170r

I think the best value is a pump gun. Let's say you have $1500. $250 azodin $200 68/4500 $10 hopper $15 bag of paint $1,000 for cocaine and hookers. A lot of the people I play with use pumps and old mechanicals. I don't use my dye m3+ as often as I should.

Don’t get suckered by the hype. The CS2 is not that great. I have a CS2 and an Etha2 and most days I field my etha because it’s a better marker. My friend just got a new Lux. And the lux is better in every category vs the CS2. I wish I had never got a CS2. 100% Buyers remorse.

@@joshuagrayson9356 nope. They have pretty much the same internals. The CS2 breaks a lot less balls but over all with shitty practice paint the eatha2 out performs the CS2 week after week. My CS2 in the past year has become my backup marker. Trust me I want my $2000 setup to outperform my $600 setup but it just doesn't.

@@joshuagrayson9356 I've talked to a few marker techs and they say I'm not alone and nothing can be done. The CS2 is not as good as the fan boys will have you believe. All planet Eclipse markers are super reliable, that is true.
