This song is about a girl in college that he had a crush on. She avoided him and when he finally got close to her in a cafeteria or a record shop, I can’t remember which, but she literally ran away from him. This is what he felt. He never fit in there and eventually dropped out if my memory serves me correctly. She later attended one of their concerts.

No she didn't avoid him he never even attempted to vocalize his feelings. It's so much more heartbreaking and soul crushing to never even attemp ttherefore never knowing if there was a chance compared to being outright rejected

Sometimes it isn’t a feeling. Some people truly don’t belong. They’re never a priority. They’re never first choice. Their presence isn’t wanted, instead it is a passing thought. If they aren’t present, it’s okay. If they are present, it’s okay. They just exist to help others reach what they cannot. To help people heal, then left to lick their own wounds.

Beautiful song. The irony is those who are " different" have better character than those who " fit in."

I like how when he sings, "I want a perfect body" he just ends it, but when he sings, "I want a perfect soul" he holds out the note ass long as possible. It makes me think that the "perfect body" is for her, but the "perfect soul" is for himself.

The Anthem for every lonely, insecure, depressive or unhappily-in-love late teen to twenty-something - and everyone who ever fell in love with someone ”out of their league”. Once you know Thom Yorke wrote the song while still at university, it all falls into place. Becoming an adult is not pain free.

Pretty powerful song. A lot of people go through life feeling unnoticed or invisible, and think there is something wrong with themselves. But we're all special in our own way. Be yourself and you can find others who see you that way too.

Love this song! 💜 I saw one reactor react to this song with concern, hoping no one felt that way. Which I found quite interesting as I always found this song very comforting knowing others felt this way too. I still can't help singing it loud and proud when I hear it 😁

One of the best songs I listened to when I was younger. If you're really vibing with the song it can make you cry 😢. I'm glad you enjoyed this one.

Love this song. And you're so right it will make you emotional.. although, I guarantee you that emotional that makes us cry is our time. Our life our parents those around us. What's real sad, those were the super good days. We ain't ever getting back. Unless we all work together to get them back.

It cuts deep on an existential level. Not everyone cared about a girl or a boy. Most everyone felt the alienation, the judgement, the doubts, the loneliness… Not speaking to us, but spoken for us.

You could hear the pain in his voice as he sang the song ...bone chilling... PS loved the reaction !

Growing up I listened to a song called Patches by Clarence Carter. It's a story of young black child who had the whole world placed on his shoulders. I'll never forget that song. Take a moment to live in his shoes.

Radiohead is one of those bands that blow your mind sometimes when you listen to them .. I remember the first time I heard that song .. I would fall asleep wit the radio 📻 on .. this song woke me up one day in the middle of the night .. love Radiohead ever since ❤️

I never realized until how compassionate this song is: a lot of weirdos do seem to wish they had better “souls, bodies” etc, they know they don’t “belong here”, but they have loneliness too. We all have “moments” like that too.

I think the perfect person is someone who lives and let lives. Someone who doesn't necessarily agree with everything, but is understanding of differences in values, wants, needs, and so on. Someone who doesn't try to force their values on others.

This is just the beginning of this band. What they became after this album is nothing short of spectacular. Different but super innovative and creative. If you do more from these guys pull the lyrics up. I suggest Street Spirit. It’s an amazing song sonically and the poetry is undeniable ✌🏼

I'd definitely check out PML's remake of CREEP with Haley Reinhart. That is an AMAZING cover, and both PML and Reinhart did a fantastic job. Just a suggestion. Great Post. And there is NO POINT in being perfect. Because someday, someone will disagree with me. And they have that right. If I were perfect, I'd be holding someone elses opinion back. Yes. I would want to be perfect but it’s impossible here in this life! To me this song is sad. This guy feels and thinks like we al lot of people feel and think deep inside. We are not perfect, we feel different. Sometime we feel like no one likes us. That we are not worthy. And sometimes when we are young we feel like others may be more special than we are. Which is not true. But this song really expresses a lot of emotion and self-reflection. I love it. ❤

I was fifteen when this song came out and dude, did it spoke to me at the time. I guess we all 90's teenager felt like that at some point of that time of our lives.
