1 thing to add... I forgot to mention "the worst draft class in recent memory by a specific team". That honor goes to the Tennessee Titans in 2013, which scored a -108.2 CAVOE according to ESPN. 1st Rd- Chance Warmack OL (bad pick in a bad year... started 3 years before becoming backup) 2nd Rd- Justin Hunter WR (career backup... never reached 500 yards in a season) 3rd Rd- Blidi Wreh-Wilson DB (spent 3 years with Titans before being waived) 3rd Rd #2- Zaviar Gooden LB (2 years with Titans before also being waived) 4th Rd- Brian Schwenke C (best value pick... 2 yr starter and played 5 seasons in Tennessee) 5th Rd- Lavar Edwards DE (1 year with Titans before waived) 6th Rd- Khalid Wooten DB (lasted 1 year in NFL... 3 total games) 7th Rd- Daimion Stafford DB (4 year backup in Tennessee)

The Jet's general incompetence probably contributed to their low score also. For some of these cases, it probably isn't that the front office wildly misjudged a rookie's talent but that the coaching staff weren't able to develop/utilize them well enough.

Look to their division for the answer, the Pates; have(had) a system to get the most out of mostly no name individuals that were drafted to fit into that system, getting free agents that fit the mold as well. We're finding out that one player was the catalyst, but they had the most ridiculous run in the Super Bowl era history. Looks like it's the Chiefs turn now. The Jets haven't had much of a standard, system or identity that I can recall, other than Ryan's brief stint.

I mean... a LOT of those early round draft picks that usually guarantee high AV and should have undeniable physical talents to be traded later if you can't develop them properly went into QBs - the very position where players need the most technical development and are dependent on surrounding cast and general offense, if they don't make it in the first year of play, they are labelled busts and super hard to trade on - that rarely happens to defensive or offensive line 'slot' players whose physical talent can shine even under bad coaching and who can often be traded even if they don't perform too well initially

Drafting is one thing, but coaching and organization are hugely important factors in a players' success. A strong organization can help a talented player reach his potential. Take a guy like Travis Kelce, for example, who had maturity question marks coming out of college. Put him on NY Jets with a defensive minded head coach and close to Manhattan and I think his career goes very differently. I use Andy Reid as a prime example of a coach being able to handle guys with off the field questions. Pete Carroll is very similar in that regard. Mike Tomlin also comes to mind. I think that's why these teams tend to "draft well".

Fun fact (about good draft picks): During the 3rd Round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Philadelphia’s GM Howie Roseman wanted to trade up and select Russell Wilson, but his power was far from absolute, and he couldn’t get it done. Afterwards Roseman said, that if another QB with Wilson’s upside was still within reach on Day 2, he would take him even if it didn’t make sense on paper. Enter Jalen Hurts.

Consider that the Jets drafted Geno Smith early in the second round of the 2013 draft. Seattle picks him up after the Jets failed with him. I think the biggest problem for Dallas is Jones, but its not culture based. Its because he hires terrible coaches. Garret, McCarthy, these guys aren't in the top 1000 people I would want coaching my NFL team. Than they luck into a pretty good OC in Moore and they blame him lol. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but Dallas is going to be worse this year than last year and it has nothing to do with the talent on the field, they have a really talented team. It has to do with lack of talent on the sidelines.

I wouldn’t use the word unfortunate because that implies that they were a victim of circumstances outside of their control, and it’s not like JaMarcus Russell got struck by lightning. I would say they prioritized athleticism over talent, and that strategy backfired.
Seahawks have been drafted well and gotten a ton of value which is a huge credit to Pete and John Schneider. But whats crazy is Pete has never won coach of the year, and Schneider has never won executive of the year, even though they have deserved it many times.
Another factor: not that the team drafted a poor prospect, but that the rookie was poorly developed or mismanaged in their time with that team; said another way, some GMs may draft fairly well, but the coaches/program/team mishandles those draftees more often.

I've never even heard of 70% of their top picks from those years except for Millner (and I feel stupid because I wanted him on the chiefs 😂) but we had the first pick that year and needed a QB baaad but Geno Smith was not worth the first overall selection and it was only our second time with the first pick so we didn't do the smartest thing (trade down because that was the weakest top 10 I've ever seen even till this day!) We took ERIC FISHER! 😭😢 I was sooo mad because Jadeveon Clowney woulda been the first pick if he was eligible no doubt! we finally get the #1 pick when Luck went the year before and Clowney the year after 😂😂 those were horrible times to be a Chiefs fan

The jets did hit it out of the park with the 2022 draft, Hall Sauce and Wilson are all superstars in the making. Garrett Wilson has at the very least top 10 wr in the league potential, Hall is both a workhorse back and an excellent playmaker. Another thing that helped our franchise turn things around was our development of these players. We slack in some areas but one thing our players do well no matter what are the fundamentals
Panthers are better at drafting than they get credit for; CMC, DJ Moore, Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, Julius Peppers, Jaycee Horn, Jordan Gross, Thomas Davis, Johnathan Stewart, John Beason, Dan Morgan, Brian Burns, and DeAngelo Williams have all made at least one pro-bowl. Video idea: best team draft classes of all time
This might shock people... but if you take the last decade-plus (since 2011)... the Green Bay Packers would be near or at the bottom. Not only do we NEVER draft for need, but our track record in the 1st, 2nd and even 3rd rounds is just atrocious. Bonus: while most of the picks were just garbage, there were a few that did well but got dumped by Green Bay like Guy, Heyward, Hyde, etc. They literally wasted Aaron Rodgers' entire career.

Any Packers fan will tell you they are beyond pleased to get Rodgers out of there. He's such a mess of a person. I think that if the Jets can learn how to coach QBs (believe it or not Wilson was really good in college) they stand a real chance. Also, as the other commenter mentioned, Caleb Williams looks extremely promising. But if the Jets can't fix their coaching he'll just be another great college QB chewed up and spit out by the Jets.

Are we the only 0nes out here to see the low ball pics of the Seahawks around 2016 to 2022 … Or is it the coaching…? I love team speed or should i say super quick players on offense but we only seem to see those players on other teams…! I’m not sure who calls plays for the Seahawks but I’ve watched too many games when they think they can run up the middle or throw that quick out to the side lines pass and lose yards or no gain at all , time after time after … well you get it..! I really think the Seahawk offense runs the plays against its own Defence in practice and expect it to work on SUNDAY…LOL…! 🫨🤔🤣

And how being drafted to a bad team with no help really rattles rookie QBs. Often, by the time they get help, they’ve lost confidence in their own abilities.
Oh how “little” of a taste of Rodgers did they get
Becoming a losing team is a hole that's hard to get out of. You either can't sign good players since no one wants to be on a losing team, or the good players you DID sign leave after a year or two since they want to actually win. Last season gave a little bit of hope and while I don't think Rodgers will stay that long since he's at the age most player retire, I'm hoping he'll revitalize morale on the team and maybe even be a role model for other QBs on the team

POV: You're watching this episode a couple weeks after Rodgers blows is achelies 4 snaps into his first game and is done for the season.😂😂😂😂😂
And the first drive of the 2023 season, Aaron goes down
It's SO easy to miss on 1st rounders. You have to pay them like proven starters and MOST of the time, they FOLD under the pressure. The hardest thing for a team to do is to be patient and develop players correctly, like how the Titans did with Steve McNair. If they'd put him in too fast, he might not have had the career he did. Many guys come out and go to desperate teams and the pressure and situation tears their career apart.
I think if Zach Wilson sits behind Aaron Rodgers a couple of years, he may learn something and still be salvageable from a “BUST” label, IMHO

The issue may not be the draftees themselves and a failure of scouting, but a failure in a team's ability to develop talent and put players in a position to succeed.
Head coach and QB matter. If you get those two right chances are you’ll be headed in the right direction. Doesn’t mean you’ll win a SB but fun to watch.

It's not who you draft, but the development of raw talent and timing of trades. The niners now have a more experienced Purdy(last draft piçk overall a couple years ago,now have drafted a receiver. It's time to stock up on o line. Lose Bubba to trade bait.
If you change perspective it’s not the missing talent they draft, it’s the horrible situation and player development these drafts are put in. Russel Wilson would’ve probably a bust too there.

When Seahawks do draft, we draft so well, quite fortunate to have John and Pete in charge
