Hi

Had a Slate ML-1 and it didn't last long in the studio. It gives you a lot of tone profiles, but they all can't match the more natural sound of a real mic. It's great if you're indecisive, but a solid mic like the Sontronics STC-2 will be killer every time if you can get past the fact that it doesn't have the number 87 in it's name. You get what you pay for with the Slate ML-1. It's good, but it doesn't replace the mics it tries to emulate.

What about a singer with a lot of power in his voice or a belting singer?

I hate that slate doesn't tell you u NEED to buy a ilok key for an extra 40 or else it WILL NOT WORK. So many people have bought it just to find out they need to spend an extra 40 0for an ilok.

You sure? Their compatibility says it works with iLok cloud which doesn’t actually require the dongle, just the software. Link: slatedigital.com/system-requirements/#:~:text=The%20All%20Access%20Pass%20can,or%20iLok%203%20USB%20dongle.

it will work with iLok cloud aswell.. if you have an internet connection its no problem.. i don't own the ml-1 but the uad model mic system the townsend sphere l22 ( now labeled as uad dlx)

Anyways, at some point you will need an ilock. And it doesn’t make the mic worse.

hate the ml1 better get the sony c80 for the price oder tlm 102/103
