Thanks! I've watched a couple videos on the Weber Connect, and no one explained that thermometer was for the ambient temp (I assumed it was). That's what I'm looking for in my cheap Weber Kettle when smoking ribs and such. Sure, I can check the temp every 15 minutes, but this hub means I won't have to. I've had the Meater for a while, and it makes for perfect whole chickens every time.

You need to look at the Combustion Predictive Thermometer. None of the others compare. 8 sensors on the spike. Finds the lowest temp and uses that as the meat temp. Also measures surface temp and ambient temp all with the same spike. Nothing else like it.

I have been using a thermoworks chef alarm or thermoworks Dot indoors forever. I’m pretty sure everyone does that when they cook a large roast such as a prime rib

Just chose the Weber Connect over Meater. The Meater looks like it's a sealed electronic device, so when that battery or supercap inside the Meater probe is exposed to hot cooking temperatures all the time eventually goes bad, the whole device goes into the e-landfill.

Man, I really want the Webber connect, but I don’t see it has a Apple Watch app on the App Store. Having that on my old igrill was a game changer. Being able to look at my watch and see 4 probes was way better than opening an app on my phone. Do you know of a meat thermometer that is WiFi, Apple Watch App, and tells you when to flip the steak 🥩? I love your videos. They have helped me so much.

Just used my MEATER for some chicken breast. Couple things. The stand alone is not Wi-Fi just the block. The original one had horrible range so the MEATER plus was released which has pretty good Bluetooth range. Did a duck on the rotisserie and it was great. Then thing to be careful is the max temp that it can safely be used is 500f. You get close to that and it will alert you. My last issue is the probe is fairly thick for the part being inserted. The temp probes for the wired ones are thinner so less of a hole in the meat but it is a very small detail. I had cooked a tenderloin steak for my wife and seared it with the probe out. As soon as the sear was done inserted to finish the cook in the grill and it worked great.

So does the Meater+ work on WiFi as stated in the video? I had one of the original Meater and Meater + and Neither worked on WiFi. The link I clicked for Amazon says Bluetooth up to 165 feet but nothing about WiFi. My experience with the Meater + was no where near 165 feet using it in a Yoder 640. More like 10 feet which is why I gave them away.

@@embersliving I want the block now though anyway. 4 separate probes so if you are cooking multiple items like chicken or steak you can get each one off the grill at the right time. Also I think the block is USB powered as well.

@@yambor44 It doesn’t have Wi-Fi built-in, but there are videos showing a workaround, where you can Bluetooth the Meater to a dedicated smartphone or tablet, connect that phone to Wi-Fi, and leave it near the grill. Then that device will send the thermometer data to the cloud and you can read the temp from your primary smartphone wherever you are.

Hole size is important. Surprised none of these so-called pro’s seem to mention that as a consideration when choosing a thermometer.

Ive been using the igrill before Weber bought it. It works great and have 4 probes and ambient temp probe. Dont see a need to upgrade to connect. The Meater is cool but i seen a lot of reviews that the end gets dirty and it stops charging, and in some instances the ambient temp piece just calls off.

Quote: "Like, no one's running a wire through their indoor oven." - Really??? I've been doing that for years. I don't understand why you would think that would be a problem. But, anyway, thanks for the video. That 'Meater' is a pretty cool thermometer: I just need to talk myself into affording one.

Had disappointing results with MEATER. Have 3 MEATER+ probes and 2 have constant connection problems. Charged, blinking green light on block but loses connection when is in Weber Summit grill or one never makes Bluetooth connection despite being paired, green light on block, drops off when properly inserted in item being cooked. Just no consistency with the 2 while one always works splendidly. 🙄
