I read Ian Rush's book and he was not impressed with the signings around 1986 to 1987, he thought Liverpool might be on the decline. Dalglish had to do something and used the money from the Juventus sale well. I could be wrong but I get the distinct feeling Bob Paisley was still advising Dalglish at this stage because Paisley was actually tracking Barnes when he was manager in the early 198s.

I dont understand that Ali don't understand that we amateur players, have a job on the side and while we want to be better we not gonna wait a few years before we make a back heel or whatever, also who does he play with for them to not be able to make a 5yard pass ? or does he mean in comparison to his level, because that just what you have to deal with, those that i play with can almost all do that as long as the pace of the game is on our level. Finally, all clubs that i played in where people where willing to learn and train and not jsut come to train, with a good attitude from the trainer also and the right expectations we was able to make people play pretty fine, time after time. I have seen some sunday league teams in england, and i was frankly chocked. They were so bad, i dont know if thats normal, but that was almost not football and it was more than one time.

You right Ale, nobody could slip like Gerrard did in 2014 against Chelsea & handed the league title for City or the back pass straight to Thierry Henry at Euro 2004 to win a penalty for France & costed England the match & he didn’t learn from it that Stevie repeated the same exact scenario but this time was Liverpool vs Arsenal. You’re right Pirlo can’t match him at this, in contrast Andrea delivered shined & World Cup for his nation instead, took them to Euro final 6 years later (masterclass performance defeating Gerrard on the route btw) plus couple Champions Leagues & 6 league titles & other cups. What you think?

Where is the proof to suggest that? That is your opinion not fact. The truth is both of them are great in the #10 role or as 'cams' in a system where the team is built around them. However the new modern #10 must be more box to box & be able to press & work off the ball & coutinho & james just like ozil, isco & many others are now what we refer to as luxury players.

Matthew Bourne Coutinho is just as good in Brazil as James is in Columbia. And Coutinho dominated the premier league for years. He was better than Hazard and KDB. People also forget that Coutinho had more than 30 goal contributions in a season with Barca. James is a sub and only scores some goals cause he comes on fresh. Playing a game he gets too tired
