If you want more reach Canon's RF 100-400 on the R7 is incredibly sharp, and has a minimum focus distance of 1 meter. It's basically an insanely awesome macro for dragonflies, bugs, flowers, etc. No other zoom has such a close focus distance for any brand or competitor. It's a unicorn. And it's half the price of anything that even comes near!

@timovehkaoja Yes, that does factor. I recently acquired the 14-35 F4 IS and so far this replaced the 17-70. It's not a 2.8 but I like the extra wide end and the constant F4. Would have gotten the 15-35 but it's just too big and heavy, negates having the R50.

I personally went for the 18-150 for general daylight photos, the nifty-fifty 50mm f1.8, and might go for the 35mm f1.8. One thing that annoys me about the 18-150 is that it doesn't have a fixed f3.5 on all focal lengths. A 24-70mm f2.8 is at nearly 3000 USD here in Norway. I hope Sigma comes up with some decent optics at a lower price.

That was the reason I switched to Sony. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 ART. A beast of a lens. I used it 90% of the time we went to Norway just few weeks ago. I feel so bad that Canon is preventing 3rd party manufacturers from making RF lenses.

18-35 f1.8...got it, love it. I use to use the 17-50 f2.8 till i dropped it, and the AF motors are now a bit of a hit and miss. I also run the 18-300 f3.5-5.6, i want to replace it (maybe the 50-100 f1.8) because i rarely get sharp shots with it. I don't think it works well with R7 AF. And lastly, the 150-600 contemporary for wildlife and birding...that one is heavy and very niche. I am contemplating on the older Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L II. I saw one used at a local camera store for $1600CAN (roughly 1200USD @ current exchange rates). It would be my first pro L lens if I do.

Yes it is. But the weight is also better 😄 and 82mm filter thread makes it a bit hard, as all of the others take 77mm filters (18-35mm with a step up). And the 50-150mm has that 50mm extra on the focal lenght AND it has a stabilizer. Optically they are REALLY close to one another.
