Which Jaguar XK is right for you? | Buyers guide to the X150 generation | Beards n Cars Roadmap

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Jag XK has featured extensively here on the channel in Beards 'n Cars, and has been some of the most beneficial content I've ever produced for many of you who have decided to take the plunge and buy one on the used market.
So with that in mind, let's take a broad look at the six major variations of the aluminium bodied X150 shape Jaguar XK, including the XK 4.2, XKR 4.2, XKRS 4.2, XK 5.0, XKR 5.0, and XKRS 5.0, as well as some of their additional limited and special editions such as the Dynamic R, XK60, XKR 75 and XK Portfolio, with a view to providing a roadmap for potential future owners to decide which XK is right for them...
If you are new to the channel, be sure to check out the Beards 'n Cars playlist for more reviews and hands on knowledge of XK and XKR ownership: • BEARDS n CARS - Car Re...

Interesting watch thank you, three and half years ago after 6 months of looking I switched from a Continental GT to a normally aspirated 2010 5.0 litre portfolio convertible and couldn’t be more happy. I 100% prefer the look of the coupe but when the right car comes along.

Had been looking for an XKR for a while and recently found a gem and had it delivered a few weeks ago. 2014 in polar white with black package and only 27k miles. Absolutely love it. I had a 2015 XFR which was awesome. Thrilled to have another special Jag!

Just bought my 5 th Jaguar XK this time i thought i would have a Convertible picked it up very cheap due to the mileage a mere 178,000 but still drives perfect no warning lights and very pleased, next one i will have is the 5.0 litre XK not had one yet so looking forward to having one probably next Summer.

Great idea for a video… I’ve owned ALL the variants of the XK150 series… XK 4.2. Cabriolet, 5.0 XKR, XKR-S and now the XKR-S GT… which I have put 5k miles in. We also have a Project7 and Project8. My favorite to drive??? Our 2012 XKR-S ! CRAZY CAR… no traction, crazy wheel spin. The 0-60 is not impressive only because the car just wont hook up! Even more fun but not as technically proficient as the XKR-S GT. You are dead on about the ride height. The GT is right about 3 inches… I have to predrive my route in something else b4 I take the GT. The cool thing about the GT is it always the rarest car at any car meet. No one knows what it is. Love the video… I will give you a follow. Check out ours, we reviewed the GT and P8… will be reviewing the P7 soon. I believe we have one of only 2 garages in the world that have all 3 cars and the only one with them in matching specs BTW… anyone ever tell you that you sound exactly like Magnus Walker??? Very nice and easy to listen to you. Gonna dive deep into your channel and share now!

I like the look of my X100 the most, I just wish it wouldn't rust so much. The only thing that tempts me with the X150 is that the body is aluminium. If I was to pick one it would be the 4.2 XKR X150, British racing green exterior, black interior with wood panel trim. The 5.0 is cool if you want more power but it's not as realible and the 4.2 isn't exactly low on power. Most people didn't spec the cars with the wood though which is a shame, really brightens the interiors and makes them feel much warmer.

I had an x100 for 9 years and loved it. But I changed for a 4.2 XK and it is so different. It drives like a modern car and although my X100 was a 4.2, the XK with the sam engine is so much Quicker. I have all the wood trim and it looks great

@@stevebass3992 I will have to drive one at some point, I am somewhat tempted I just don't like the exterior or interior design as much as my car. I'm not the only one though, a lot of X100 drivers say the same. If you could get the body of the X100 on the X150 that would be perfect. Rip out the interior and put in the X100's. I do like the way the X100 drives though, it's ncie and soft but the chasis feels stiff enough for me, it's no race car but I don't want a race car. It's a GT at the end of the day, I need to get my springs and bushings replaced most likely because my ride height ir running a bit low. I have some 18" wheels I want to put on at some point, the 20" wheels I have on now are a tad harsh. Whenever I read about the X150 people say it handles much better and is more "modern" whatever that means. They do say the X100 is softer though.

i have a thing for muscle-saloons so i have a 2014 xfr, i love it. ive daily driven it for the last 16 months and its been perfect. i am ready for a little more power so im in 2 minds whether to tune it or not. it has full comprehensive history, covered 59k and runs like clockwork. if i dont tune it i will probably move it on and try an f10 m5 or e63 amg.

How much ride quality difference is there between the 5.0 XK and 5.0 XKR?

I have had XK ‘s since circa 2008, eight in total. Without doubt the best is my present car which I have had since new a 2014 XKR dynamic R sell off edition which has the black pack with lower suspension and several other features from the ‘S’ version. Don’t agree with this guy that that 4.2 was the best. Had one of those and is not a patch on my present one. Several times thought about selling my present one, as it’s circa 8/9 years old now. But it drives and looks basically the same as the day I bought it, what a machine. So can’t bring myself to sell it. Absolutely love this car and is the best of the lot, by a mile.

@@schryvel It is definitely a GT not a sports car. It’s an every day super car. I’ve had a test drive in the ‘F’ type and that is a sports car and did not like it. I had the the 5.0 XK before the one I have now and it’s a great car. However, the dynamic ‘R’ 2014/15 sell off version with the upgraded ‘S’ parts added is the best of all of them. The upgraded’S’ type parts that where added in no way effect the ride quality they just enhanced the car dramatically both in look, control and speed.

Not much… I’ve owned every variant. Very similar ride quality between the XK and XKR. The stiffness really starts to show with the XKR-S… the GT can be too stiff on regular roads. The horsepower difference that you will experience is worth every time! There is a huge difference in performance when you add the R.

Well, I've had mine for just over 2 months and I love it. Its a 2007 R model with the 4.2 blower. Yes she is quite thirsty but I didn't buy her with fuel economy in mind. Great car for the money. More than enough power when I need it but completely easy going around the town. I've also had a lot of very good comments from people. And of course she's the right colour! Midnight Black with ivory interior. Makes me smile every time I fire up that V8. Don't think about buying a Jag XKR.Just go out and get one!
