Thanks for the comparison, I has also wondered. The ideal would be a locking 1/4 collet (I hate, hate, hate having my bit stay behind in the fastener all the time) with a magnet sleeve that extends to stabilize the screw, like the impaktor 1.

I bought the impaktor 1 set. The sliding collet is so annoying, I bought the bit holder from the number 2 set. People who write in the comment they prefer the rapidaptor, it is not suitable for impact drivers. That type is also useless when screwing drywall. Gypsum get in it and locks the mechanism.

I did the same. I kept the number 1 initially then bought the number 2 on its own and prefer it.

In my experience the Wiha CentroFix is the best bit holder for hand tools. I don’t know if the CentroFix has the strength and durability needed for power tools.

Ha ha. Great question. I kept the 1 and returned the 2 and have just bought the 2 again. The 1 is kind of annoying as the magnet is only there if you extend the sleeve which is unlike most other bit holders. It's really all or nothing while most bit holders don't give as strong a magnetic grip but all the time. Ultimately it's down to your use case. If you need a really strong magnet then the 1, if a normal magnet all the time is better than 2. 2 is also slimmer which is nice.

0:35 Does the Impaktor 2 have retention balls or something to lock the bit? From the video, it looks like only magnet holds the bit.

They are both just magnetic retention, no bit locking which is slightly annoying as the bits can come out in the screw.

@Beyond Utility Thanks, I will stick to my Rapidaptor. Bit lock is very important in my line of work. Thanks for the prompt reply.

@@JustAnotherChippy yeah they're not amazing. I prefer the lockable ones too.

@@JustAnotherChippyDo you use your rapidaptor in your impact driver? I'd be afraid of damaging it Wera impaktor bits seem to get mixed reviews. I love Wera hand tools and bits but I'm leaving away from their impact stuff due to doubt from reviews and expense

@feanor5037 I use it and have zero problem with the holding retention. Screws like 14g bugel screws and Spax. The only issue is that some short bits deform or wear out and get stuck in the Rapidaptor.

Doesn't the "2" have additional "torsion" zones?

Not sure tbh. The 1 seems to have 2 zones according to the website but didn't see any details on the 2.
