Which Is The Best 4MM Arrow Shaft?!

Спорт

Are 4mm carbon arrow shafts created equal? Does it really matter which brand you shoot? Can they withstand a carbon block?
In this video I build 5 nearly identical arrows to see if I could tell the difference in the carbon shafts themselves. All the arrows where built 55g Easton Titanium half outs, 100g field points, 4 AAE Max Stealth Vanes, Bohning Wrap and an Easton deep six nock. I wanted to test the carbon shafts rather than the components they come with.

    Great video, but i highly recommend using a 24hr epoxy over the hot melt for the components. This will increase durability as well.

    I would be interested in seeing how the hold up to a 6"x6" block of ballistic cellulose (aka a 6x6 square wood post). Kind of like if you shank it at the outdoor range and hit the bale support post or a tree in the woods, which shaft is more likely to survive and hold the insert.

    Thanks for doing this, I like your common sense unbiased approach, I shoot vap tko v1 350 spine , about 430grns and love them, never had to nock tune a broadhead with them. I won a dozen Easton match grade 4mm in a raffle and was curious which one was more durable, they seem close enough to not worry about it. I was trying to decide if I should switch over to axis 4mm. I will say the vaps have been an extremely durable arrow shaft for me, I've bent their victory 50grn outserts hitting the ground and hard stuff and just heated them up and slap on another. I also have the vapes 300 spine for a heavier set up, about 530grns, with ethics archery outserts, I had a let down mishap with them and shot a lava rock about 3 feet in front of me and nothing blew up and even the sevr broadhead handled it pretty damn good, but the tip broke off. I'm gonna give the axis a go, I think you can't go wrong with either but you gotta try new things.

    I’m still learning about this stuff…. But what about those Easton arrows made of aluminum body with a carbon fiber core? I have a 29 inch draw and was looking at getting an entry level bow like a 70 pound Sanlida X8. I heard the arrows that come with it are crap. Also the draw weight drops as the draw length drops. From what I understand I should be looking for a 300-250 spine arrow? I think they are 31 inches. Do I really need to cut them down for a 29 inch draw? Just looking for some advice as I wanna do it right the first time and not buy junk.

  • @jeffcordero_

    @jeffcordero_

    The arrows you are referring to are the EASTON FMJ (Full Metal Jacket). They are a heavy arrow if that’s what your looking for but, I have had the bend a little and they never shoot the same after that. I would go off the Easton spine chart to see what you need. But that sounds right. You don’t need to cut them, but most people do to achieve a proper arrow weight and flex.
