Still prefer hilux, as it is more reliable, more tougher and gonna run more miles with low maintenance. Btw love the looks (exterior / interior) of ranger more. And according to carwow, hilux is the winner.

Hilux is reliable....but I'll still choose the ranger. It's extremely good looking both interior and exterior, and not all rangers are made of plastics.

At the end of the day, its all about the type of person we are. If I want tons of technology and better ride, hi lux is far behind than ranger. But if I want ute that would last for a while, easy to fix, parts availability, resale value and reliability, hilux is far better than ford. I drove both of them, I would not say that hi lux has no fault at all, but it is a lot easier and cheaper to fix, there is always available parts everywhere. It means I don’t need to wait for a long time before my car back on track and most of the parts are swappable with other Toyota trucks. With ford, good luck! You need to order and wait, sometimes the dealer mechanics doesn’t know how to fix especially with technology problem and it is not cheap at all. Too much tech is not always the best experience, once it fails, the car stop running and affecting everything in the system. If you’re not planning to keep the car for a long time, get a ford.

All very well looking at the numbers and how pretty the cars are, but how do they fare in real-world hard usage situations? The fact that the Ford tailgate is lighter implies less metal, does this affect strength? Try running them both over rough ground with full loads and bumping them into things. That would be the true test. All this video does really is read the publicity guff for both trucks.

It doesn’t imply less metal. This reviewer is uninformed. Ranger tail gate is light because of torsion bar.

Just a shame that the ford spends allot of time on the back of a tow truck. American reviewer, so I guess there is some bias there, so I guess I support your patronage to your country, NOT the review

Both covered by Manufacturers warranty for the 3 year period. Both also reliable and unlikely to cause issues but if you put my back to the wall to pick one I'd say Hilux is going to give you fewer issues.

how about triton? does it better than hilux in term of handling and comfort?

  • @junglejim4569

I just test drove a new model triton last week as a neighbour works for Mitsubishi and the Triton feels like a standard Ford falcon sedan on the road. But on dirt roads it feels and sounds like it's about to leave parts behind. Very rough and so many rattles that I was actually unusual for a proper 4wd. As to value the Triton is a lot cheaper than the rest.

@@junglejim4569 yes it feels like little bit of sedan in term of handling. I also noticed that the lower and upper control arm are significantly closer together than any 4x4 ute. I know this cuz i help my friend lifted his 2020 triton last month

The Hilux runs rings around the Ranger. Lucky if the Ranger lasts half the kms of the Hilux. Toyota=Japanese=Precision. Ford=Yank=No Precision (mm vs inch).

true our company use fleet of ford ranger/mazda bt50 which are same car different skin, the reliability is very poor, since 2016 they change to mitsubishi strada which are not par with hilux but still way better and reliable than ford ranger except comfort

The ranger is designed in Australia and built in South Africa. We treat ours like shit and our current one just hit 80,000 kms no issue, our old one is still being used down the line by one of our employees, it has had zero issues having just hit 420,000 kms. When I say treated like shit I mean towing upwards of 4 tonnes a lot and doing it pegged. Meanwhile another employees Hilux needs its dpf cleaned out every 10,000 kms or it can’t tow a small boat at 110😂

The Hilux is still the better option. Everyone knows that Ford quality and reliability sucks. Ford is dealing with these issues not just in the US but all over the world. Even Ford CEO Farley admitted that they have a reliability issue that needs to be addressed. My money will be spend on the Hilux.
