Which Is Better? Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun Vs Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya | Resort Comparison | 2023

Iโ€™ve done over 100 videos on Hyatt Ziva & Zilara resorts - I stayed at one of their properties 8 years ago and was SO impressed that Iโ€™ve been a huge fan ever since! Iโ€™ve been to each of their resorts and people always ask me if they should stay at the new Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya or the new Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun - hereโ€™s what I think!

    Hi Brad! Yes the sunset & sunrise were great at both resorts. I also didn't mention that they both offer hard seltzers (vodka with flavoured soda water - great for those who are calorie-conscious!) and these are included in the All Inclusive plan that all guests get. Thanks for watching!

    @@ChristineTurner Hi there! For me *both* pool and beach are important, so I was undecided. I went a completely different route and settled on the Hard Rock because it seems like it has a great beach with white sand, clear water and also a large ocean front pool. Donโ€™t know if it will meet my wants of beach/pool combo but I can only go by the pictures and videos. Whatโ€™s your view on the Hard Rock?

  • @ChristineTurner

    @ChristineTurner

    9 ะฐะน ะฑาฑั€ั‹ะฝ

    @@Mkvine is that the Hard Rock Cancun or Riviera Maya? If itโ€™s the latter, thatโ€™s a man-made beach with no ocean access - just sort of a lagoon area (which is great for paddle boarding). Pools are amazing though and itโ€™s one of the rare resorts that actually holds to the limit of no saving a lounger for hours on end. Food, drinks, entertainment are all excellent there. Rooms are on the smaller side. Overall, I think itโ€™s a good choice though but a tough one to measure against Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun. I hope you have a great time!

Rooms here are also small-ish but it depends what category you've booked - some will have access to the 2nd floor pool deck, which is really nice. You're super close to Aqua World, which is a great place to wander over to & grab a beer & watch all the water tours coming & going. Have you been to the Cancun strip before?

    My critiques for Zilara RM would be that they need more entertainment. I was there in January and there was only one show one night. I think that they have added more since then. Also, for only having 3 a la carte restaurants, I would have liked to have seen larger menus. I don't think that I would return unless both of those issues were fixed. I'm supposed to be going to Atelier in June, but it caught fire on Friday, so hopefully they are back to normal by then.

    Hi Christine! Thanks for the feedback! I know that some of the resort staff read comments on my Hyatt videos, so it won't fall on deaf ears. I did hear others mention the limited menu but I suspect that's also part of them being so new and, as the chefs and kitchen staff get more comfortable with things, the menu will expand. Good luck with Atelier - looking forward to hearing your thoughts on that one!

    Hi Ameya! That's a tough choice. Secrets PM has the Dreams next door and you have full exchange privileges, so that means a LOT of dining options. The pools are massive, and the beach is lovely. That said, it's much farther from the airport and the food options at Zilara were amazing. Zilara is very small compared to Secrets and it tends to be more of a relaxing resort - if that's what you're looking for, then you'll definitely find it there. If you want something a little more active (I recall them having a band at Secrets in the afternoon by the pool), then Secrets would be the better choice. I'm sure you'll have a great trip, no matter which one you choose, because they're both fantastic resorts. Let us know which one you choose!

    Hi Christine my husband and myself are followers of you and your videos. Love them! We are here now at the Hyatt Zilara and sorry to say what a difference we are experiencing now compared to what you experienced on your vacation. The staff is hands down amazing, full credit here. The drinks on at the other hand are absolutely horrible, for instance ordered mudslides at the pool bar and basically Just white milk. No one seems to know how to make any drinks. The social bar in the evening serves drinks that are not drinkable. No mixologist on site not that we care about that but canโ€™t even get Kahlula and milk? We specifically ask for it but they pour the alcohol from another bottle. White Russians were like lighter fluid, come on Hyatt train your bartenders better that that! We have heard this from many guests during our stay. I guess if you just stick to wine, and beer 7:30 you are fine. For reference we paid full price for a ocean view and it is amazing! When we compare this hotel to our usual go toโ€™s Excellence Punta Cana and Iberostar Grand this is not in the same class. Really worried there are very few palapas on beach and this is not acceptable. Most loungers on the beach have no shade. We have heard this from numerous guests at this time. Just too many cons for us to revisit this hotel. I should point out there is no entertainment before or just after dinner, most resorts of this calibre have at least something during this time.

    Iโ€™m actually disappointed in both. They took the old Secrets Silversands and Secrets Capri properties did some updates and called it a day. Biggest problem at the Silversands/Ziva property was the beach. Should have created a lagoon and cleaned things up like the Hard Rock Riviera Maya did NOT like the Dreams Aventures debacle. Biggest issue with the Capri/Zilara only 1 pool . Should have added a 2nd pool or built a lazy river surrounding the pool or something. Positive thing the Ziva did was get rid of those ridiculous looking over the water bungalowโ€™s(built over a swimming pool not the ocean) and replaced them with water slides. We did the Hyatt Ziva in Cabo and liked that one. Not perfect but nice.

    Hi RAS! Good points. The beaches in the Mayan are suffering so much with the currents and now the sargassum...I really don't know what they're going to do but I think Mexico, as a whole, needs to look at this country-designated tourist destination and come up with a solution. The beach at Zilara RM (Riviera Maya) is nice but the one in Cancun is long and wide and the water color in Cancun is almost always that gorgeous teal blue. At Zilara RM, the water does get very pretty but that's more mid-day, once the sun is overhead. The seaweed is an issue all over and is pretty inconsistent - there's usually less in Cancun but it's so unpredictable.
