I'm gonna just say this.....after just getting my fold 5 on Tuesday. Unfolding my device and watching this video after coming from the S22 Ultra was SUPER SATISFYING. I know the camera can't mess with the Ultra, BUUUUUUUUUTTTTT.....it's not like you're getting some camera slouch with the Fold. I feel like if you like the Ultra but you're just ready for something fresh (like me) the Fold 5 is the way to go.

I did the same man and though I miss the form factor of the S22 a lot in some ways, I love the inner screen, pixels over the camera hole. I wish the front screen was wider. But oh well.

If samsung just took the width of the s23 ultra and turned that device into a foldable with the s pen built in....... Game over.

I just traded my fold 4 for a pixel 8 pro.. The fold is dope but I got tired of it in every use situations. This slim screen is not always accurate for texting if you have big hands, and opening the phone to larger screen just to do small task gets cumbersome over time. The S23ultra is the overall king.

I think it comes down to personal preference. Do you want a foldable or a candybar that is just as speced out as a PC and S-pen?

Well I just ordered a S23 Ultra to replace my Z Fold 4. My Z Fold 4 folding screen broke a month after the 1 year warranty ended! I only opened my Z Fold once or twice a week! The screen only lasted 13 months! I liked the big inner screen but I'm just not a super user that needs it. Samsung did give me $853 trade in towards my S23 Ultra. I will be glad to get my Spen back! I missed it from my Note 20. So DON'T GET A FOLD UNTILL THEY CAN MAKE A FOLDING SCREEN LAST LONGER THAN 13 MONTHS!

Im with Robert on this one. I got both of them. The Ultra is my daily/ going to work, getting it done in style phone. The fold is my after work, days off, and flexin on the bosses at the office meeting. Only problem is its damm near impossible to tell the boss you need a raise when you drop a 2K phone on the table infront of everybody😅 for real though i think my fold has better battery life.

Honestly glad I can't tell the difference between cameras without pixel peeking. Obviously the Fold isn't as wide but I'm not a massive fan of ultra wide shots. Megapixels aren't everything and can even lead to more noise in low light.

Great summary - based on watching your footage on my Fold 5, other than the framing it's hard to see which takes the better shot so unless you are printing or viewing on massive panels... it's really hard for most of us to pick. Probably a bigger question is which of the s23 models is the most popular and how does the z fold 5 compare to that Very few of the people I know with s22 and s23's have the ultra model. The fold 5 only differs in storage Still tinkering with settings here and learning 😊

Very fair assessment of these two beasts, and it really boils down to what do you want. As you said in your video, do you want familiar, or do you want new? For me, I have always wanted bigger screen for multitasking and entertainment, so despite the camera forfeit on the Z Fold5, even if disappointing (though itself is very good), this was no longer as important as largest screen size in a phone. The Z Fold5 is a dream machine for me, but S23 Ultra is the better at everything and very good multitasking (for a candy bar phone)!

And this is why Sammy has gotten almost 3 grand from me this year... I have and use both. it's hard to choose from day to day... slight camera edge on the S23 Ultra, but I watch ALL of my content and take the majority of my notes on the Fold 5... I call it a TIE! 😂

For me the s23u takes the cake because I have my s9u with me in my EDC and use it for so many things esp my art and , piano sheet music scores, editing, media consumption. The fold 5 can't replicate that in my use case. But it is nice if you don't main a tablet.

Great review bro, brief, to the point and covered all aspects of what one looks for when considering buying a phone. While the S 23 shines with top spec, l am charmed by the fold 5 with it's versatile two in one functionality.

I can understand how most wouldn't like the new slim s pen, and I thought I woudn't like it either, until I got it in my hands for myself because I had to borrow it from my Mom while at work. (She got the fold 5 upgrading from the Note 20 Ultra and says she doesn't even MISS the Note 20 Ultra, that the Fold emodies the Note even BETTER. I have the Fold 3 and have had it for about a year and a half with no significant issues. I won't even go back to a "normal" slab phone.) When I got the new s pen in my hands it felt like it fit PERFECT in my hands. No rolling it around or adjusting it every few penstrokes. It actually felt smoother on my Fold 3 screen than the regular Fold s pen. Just my opinion though, as I DO realise there are people out there with normal and even large hands, as opposed to my small hands.

Great review on both devices. It's like asking - which is better, a truck or a van? While you can crap 6-7 people in a truck, it's a much better experience traveling in a van. While you can load stuff up and haul in a van, doing so in a truck is much better. It all comes down to what you need or want. You can't go wrong with either though. Beast devices...

My Fold 4 down. Broke it within 6 months. Went back to the S23 Ultra. I do miss it but I work with the enemy. Dirt. Maybe the Fold 6 will make me go back.

i have to say the shots on the fold 5 were very good. there is not that much between those photo's if any. the fold 5 looked good. the 23 ultra looks bigger than the fold 5 even when open i know and can see the fold is bigger when opened. but the 23 ultra still has a huge screen.

I have the s23 ultra and it's indubitably the best phone of this year

I picked up the fold for very cheap, paid 900 buxxl cad, under warranty. I couldn't resist the price. Coming from Note 10+ i wanted something fresh and new and different. Another slab phone just wasnt goimg to do it for me. I am enjoying the Fold 5, its different it has multiple screens its all those things i need in a new and different device.

The S23 Ultra with that snapdragon 8 gen 2 and that built in S pen plus longer battery life and that $1200 price tag compared to the $1800 price of the Z Fold 5 makes the S23 Ultra a super smartphone way ahead of it's time.

Comparing the price of replacement parts for both devices, the S23 Ultra parts are "cheaper" to replace compared to the Z Fold 5, especially the screens. Not only are the Z Fold replacement parts more expensive but Z Fold 5 only has an IPX8 rating while S23 Ultra has IP68. It's financially riskier to buy the Z Fold 5 than the S23 Ultra especially if Samsung Care+ is not available in the region you live in (add to the fact that a lot of repair centers aren't the best in service & the long waiting time). Z Fold 5 is a good indoor/office/ secondary phone but not ideal as your only phone. With the price of the Z Fold 5, I'd rather get the Tab 9 Ultra that comes with the same specs as the S23 Ultra & IP rating, plus it's a big flat screen instead of a folding one with a crease I can't unsee.

@way2go723 and after 2 years of Samsung Care+ expires? How much would the cost of repairs be then? Take into account that future models might not have the better specs than the current one, and then the 2nd hand resale or exchange value of the folds is dependent on the demand of buyers, which would be affected by the real repair costs that they would be incurring for the phone as well as the reviews of the users of the fold series in the coming months. The S23 Ultra so far fared better than the Apple 14 Pro max, but the Fold has no "real counterpart" with Apple that would push more people to want to buy it. Other folds are cheaper compared to Samsung so they might feel like they overpay for the Fold.

Even after that and if I decided to keep the fold5 the repair cost doesn’t bother me as I picked up the Fold5 direct from Samsung for £880!! I would probably trade in for the fold7 by that time so it’s a win win for me

Not my experience, my fold has fallen more times than I can remember without issues

the s23 ultra having a bigger battery and the fact that it doesn’t use as much power is the main reason why I’m picking it over the fold. And if you order directly from Samsung you can get a Galaxy tab 9 heavily discounted and it comes out to 82 less then the cost of the fold 5. The tab 9 being the superior tablet and the s23 ultra being the superior phone is plenty of reason for me to not even consider the fold. Sure I won’t be able to carry a tablet in my pocket but the fact that I have superior hardware is worth that trade off. Not to mention the tablet and u23 ultra are more durable

@@ahmadhusaini8420 I definitely get that appeal but the fold needs to make 2 changes for me to get one. offer similar durability to bar phone, most importantly dust resistance and a screen that as durable as gorilla glass, I work around a lot of dirt so that’s a critical condition. I would also appreciate if they reshaped it to a more passport shaped design like the pixel fold, I think that would be better because right now the inner screens aspect ratio seems inadequate for watching movies, most of the screen is black bars and if you zoom to fill is crops most of the video. That’s the only thing I thought the pixel fold did better, it’s aspect ratio makes a lot more sense to me then the folds.

Why is everyone comparing camera results to S23U when this device (I've been using last 6 months) has very poor performance when it comes to camera. Shutter lag, weird color grading/HDR, bad night mode, poor front camera (except in perfect light conditions), choppy videos, unpredictable results...every single problem from previous Samsung devices is still present !

GZF5 is not a traditional phone more of pocketable tablet for entertainment stuff on the go with a secondary line. Thats what i use it for. S23U is my main phone.

S23 ultra is the ultimate beast. And downloading good lock to custom my phone is even better. ❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Question: i have an S8+ that was the top of its line when it first came out (way before there was an ultra variant of anything). My trusty phone is still working well but i am starting to get concerned that perhaps I'm starting to fall too far behind tech wise. Is it worth it to get an S23 Ultra now or just wait til Feb to get the S24 Ultra? Remember that my comparison base is the S8+ I've been using for years now.

Looking at upgrades at the moment, if the Z Fold 5 had the same 200 MP camera, I'd be sold, as I've wanted a tablet for a while too.

I just thought about what u said about the S-pen, I don’t think they will put it in the fold anytime soon bc as soon as they do they won’t be a need for the Ultra. Yes the Ultra has better cameras but they can adapt those to the fold as well

Reminds me of our Kobe and Iverson Debate. While both are great in their own way, The S23 Ultra with the internal stylus, better battery, better app optimization, better all around cameras is on that Kobe status (proven) while Z Fold 5 is quite capable and has it's advantages, killer crossover, fly braids, cultural icon, sorry we're talking about phones but ultimately, AI and the Fold 5 will always be a close runner up.

I moved from S22 to fold 5. Camera for me, except zoom quality over 3x is better on fold 5. Everything else is sagnificatly better on fold 5. Most important is battery, user experience, multitasking, very good sound and big screen for watching video.

@@JEDASE Mostly battery life and bigger screen. I do reaserch and watching videos mostly on mobile phone. Also I am multitascer so I want better system for that also. So I have big upgrade on fold 5. Everything else is better than s22, including camera (except zoom is little bit better on s22 Ultra).

I don't know how not anybody is bothered by the chromatic abberation that these oled weird arrangement panels gives. For example compare to the panel that Xiaomi Mi 11 has or the Pixel 8 Pro provides, it's extremely clean display, with no color shifting around the the stuff displayed on screen, and if you don't see it, get closer to the phone, that chromatic abberation kinda like effect it's there and you can see it even from normal distances.

Subscribed. Traded my S23 Ultra for the Z Fold5. Traded my Z Fold4 for the S23 Ultra. I'm happy as heck!

subzero temperatures in Canada will be no go. I mean colder then -20C.

I go back and forth between both, why limit yourself? Ive been a note user since the Note 2 so can't give up my Spen and those S23 ultra Cameras.... but that huge screen is just awesome and being able to just fold and unfold just never gets old. Have to have both pretty much i cant just choose one.

If you had an old phone like a S9+ (yea i know ancient) which phone is the most future proof? My s9+ still goes strong and everything as much as i know things have changed in the industry still works fine. It's like having a great expensive older TV never wanting to upgrade because it still works just fine. Every year i say this is the year and before i go get it another great phone comes out. So what would you grab? A new iPhone, S23U, ZFold5 or wait for the S24U and ZFold6? It's just a constant waiting game. I just want something that i don't necessarily think it's lacking in anything 6 years from now if i had to keep my phone that long.

If z5 had the 23Ultra battery. We would be having a totally different comparison test(BIGFACTS).....

Its not far behind in my use (i have both). I get maybe another 30-45 min SOT on my S23 ultra. The Fold 5 is a beast on battery....light years ahead of the fold 4.

The only thing that is keeping me from switching to Sony is the Galaxy store in the themes I think it's really cool why don't they put that on their tablets

S23 Ultra is King. 👑 The cameras are far more superior, and not available on the Fold 5.

I don't wanna be a guinea pig tester for a still new folding screen technology. The z-fold only been out for a couple years and some people I know that work at stores that sell these phones tell me they get LOTS of customers returning these phones for screen issues. I just bought the 23 ultra yesterday. Samsung has nearly 20 years on perfecting a single screen phone like this. For me they still need more time on perfecting this foldable screen stuff. And don't get me wrong I was seriously looking at that z-fold but I rather wait and give it more time before I buy something like that.

5 generations = couple years. maths.

I have fold 5 and s22 ultra...again it depends on what you prioritize in a phone. If you need both, and can afford it, get both! Only live once😁

Hello I'm watching your video to compering the Galaxy s23 ultra flag ship and the z fold 5 I know the zfold 5 looks the part buts ok if you want to flash it about. But the galaxy s23 ultra has durability witch z fold 5 hasn't got the durrablity and galaxy s23 ultra camras our clearly a winer. I have the Galaxy s23 ultra. And as for both screens I got to go with galaxy s23 ultra. So as far as ca see you would be better off with the galaxy s23ultra. I know how much a screen replacement is for the galaxy s23 ultra is and I'm sure it's cheaper then a screen replacement for the galaxy z fold 5.remember the weeks point on the z fold 5 phone is the screen. But at the same time. The screen is also the most expensive part to have replaced in my opinion keep with the galaxys23 ultra. Good video let me know what you go for out of them?
