Just read the label. If it says refrigerate then you know what to do... if you buy something from the store that was refrigerated, you know what to do.

It says refrigerate after opening on most jars, has nothing to do with common sense.

Avocados can be out till they ripe then it’s a good idea to refrigerate to keep the shelf life longer

We keep ours in the fridge. Never had a problem. We don't sweat it if they're left on the counter, but we normally out them in the bottom drawer of the fridge.

If it is not refrigerated at the supermarket then there is no need to refrigerate at home, except for some items that had been opened and partially consumed.

Ummmm….. last time I checked, ketchup technically doesn’t need to be refrigerated because they usually have enough of a sugar & vinegar mixture that you don’t need to put it in the fridge. You’d only do it if you want to have some cold ketchup.

Uhhh but who wants to take a milk out the pantry and drink it?!

I think he means to store it. Ultrapasturized can he stored at room temperature, but refrigerate it as you use it.

@@sydneyhughes7598 ​ That's why once we buy a batch from the supermarket we put one bottle immediatly in the fridge, and once it's getting running out (like I do, around 50 to 75 % of it's capacity) , we put another one and we do it again etc. It's just a choice for using that space for something else that could need it more than the whole box of milk. We (in Europe/France/Belgium at least) don't have those huge fridge or at least it's not common ! ☺

Nah I'll keep my potatoes in the fridge they last longer and the eyes of the potatoes don't grow as fast. If I kept them in a pantry within 2/3weeks I'd be throwing them out. Potatoes in the fridge can last over a month , this is the same with onions although bananas I'd definitely say leave them in the pantry lol

Ketchup does need to be refrigerated after opening, hot sauce is so high in vinegar and salt that it doesn't really rot or mold so it's perfectly fine not refrigerating. 🤡

Ketchup is always kept on tables unrefrigerated. I worked in a restaurant for several years and this is common knowledge.

well there's def a significant difference between "does it need to be refrigerated *to meet the expiry dates"* (what the vid is referring to) vs *"will it last even longer* if refrigerated"...when refrigerated everything lasts longer (unless it's moisture sensitive), specially good if you tend to go past expiry dates and don't want to throw

I was there until he said jam has to be refrigerated. It's preserved with a lot of sugar. If you always use a clean spoon and use it regularly you can keep it out.
