Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

So much fun! I love your videos! FYI… Those are not “bed pans“ hanging on the wall in the “kitchen“… Those were for putting hot coals in (you get the hot coals from the great big giant antique fireplace) and were taken to the bedrooms to warm the beds. They moved them back-and-forth underneath the sheets to warm the bed. ☺️💖

Yes, that's correct. I don't know why I always call them bedpans... I do know the difference, but always use the wrong word!
Sarah I love how relaxed you are with everyone. Such a joy to watch and listen.
What a great group of creators in one Chateau! I don’t ‘do’ instagram or tik tok so it’s lovely to see the results of Steve’s photos/montages in this video. Sarah, your sewing skills are prominent in some scenes and look wonderful. You could do well to make lots of costumes and maybe hire them out for photoshoots. I’m sure there would be lots of takers for that, Your Chateau has such a beautiful look from any angle and perfect for the task of photography.👏❤️
That was a fun vlog. The girls were so nice and friendly, and the boy band of course 😅 Some great pictures taken, very artistic.

What a fun and beautiful time! Those pics you took, Steve, are so so good! 👏👏👏nothing like having delightful guests! Love to you all ❤
Delightful! Thank you all
This looked absolutely amazing. You and Steve look like you really are building your dream life. I have to say that I’m envious. Perhaps one day. It’s really nice to see regular people who don’t just look like models or movie stars making this sort of dream a reality.

I resemble that remark....🤣🤣
Oh, you should SO have done some mysterious, magic photoshoots, with witches or fairy girls! It would have been so perfect, with all that red hair! I'm thinking Sarah needs to start building a costume department, with flowy dresses and period costumes! 😊

Absolutely!! I’ll have to start planning some more characters to dress up as! That was so much fun! You are so talented making the Marie Antoinette style dress, it blew me away how beautiful it was and all handmade! ❤❤
Wow guys, looks like you had an amazing time. The photography was stunning. What beautiful creative people you all are. Food looked scrumptious too xxx
Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved all of the photos and the costumes! You guys do some very fun things!
It looks like you all had a wonderful time. It reminded me so much of being a young girl and playing dress up in my mother's fancy dresses she used to wear as a big band singer.
They are called bed warmers (as opposed to bed pans). You took embers from the kitchen fire to warm the bedding, ergo, why they were stored in the kitchen.
Absolutely magical! You have made a place for creativity to flourish! Well done and thank you for sharing! Much love!
That was so amazing Sarah you should’ve dressed up too! Funny thing my girls and I would’ve fit right in we are all redheads! Side note I’ve been playing June’s journey for yrs now. Love it and all your videos!❤

Amazing photography, corset and group of creators! So exciting to watch behind the scenes!
Those are not bed pans that were in the kitchen of the castle. You put coals in those to warm the bed before getting in. Thanks so much for sharing your fun times.
Oh what dress up fun! Loved the vlog today and seeing the creators playing it up. The food looked scrumptious! ❤
Of all the Chateaus Videos I watch; I think you & hubby Open /Use your Chateau for the events The best and very Interesting. Cheers from Calgary, Canada.
Beautiful Red Hair. Fabulous Pictures. X 😊
Absolutely wonderful! So enjoyed the creative playfulness and the beautiful photography that was a result - well done Steve! You are both generous hosts and I thank you, Sarah, for encouraging each of the creators to introduce themselves and share a bit about their content - amazing ladies, all, and it was nice to get to know them a bit. I am looking forward to seeing more of their work - all areas of interest to me and all "new to me" creators.
I loved this one so much! Sarah, you’re delightful❤️

I am enjoying it. I used to play hidden object games a lot a few years ago. We'll ask about the tiles the next time we're at Lalande!
I love your videos! Also letting you know that the copper pans hanging on the wall in the kitchen are not bed pans but warming pans for the bed. You would fill them with hot coals and then run them over the bottom sheet, under the top covers, to warm the bed.
Those are bed warmers .Loved all the costumes and creators.
They are called “bed warmers”! 🇨🇦💐
Delightful fun with dressup and pretend. Thank you for sharing, Sara and Steve. ox🏰
Those photos will be beautiful. Someone beat me to it but not bed pans, but bed warmers. The coals used to fill them for usse would come from the kitchens.
So many red heads in one place. 😄 I'm sure it was a lot of fun!
The chateau is becoming an artistic hub, well done.
Oh boy, that was fun! I just loved it. All that feminine historical fantasy and dress-ups! 😊 Love Jacqueline from New Zealand

Fun time. I remember Marie Antoinette’s dress on you, Sarah. A beautiful dress. Didn’t you make it?
love
Would making the center of the building the truest, in terms of the construct, not be the best option to work from. And wasn't one of the old photos of the interior show the first floor rooms at different levels? Just a thought 😉
it would have been fun to have the girls dance around... 1... 2... 3... and freeze..... 1.. 2.. 3 freeze. they were just gorgeous. ❤
Aww my are they sisters the red head ladies looking lovely in those clothes😊
What a fun video. Is it a coincidence that three of those beautiful women have red hair?

Hi Janet - I haven't wiped any comments, and I don't see any held for review (sometimes happens with special characters). I do see one other lovely comment from you that says "Delightful! Thank you all!" - to which I say "You are most welcome!"
