Which country has the highest population density?
At first, most people would probably think of countries like China or India, because they are the most populous countries in the world. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Instead, smaller countries like Vatican City and Monaco have some of the highest population densities in the entire world. Monaco has more than 19,000 people per square kilometer.

About Bangladesh, when I went to that country, I noticed it was really rural with paddy fields and land big skies towards the horizon, if you get out of the cities you can walk for 30 mins and hardly come across folks

These micro nations have the highest population density because they are city states, and dominant urban regions tend to have population density of around 15k. (Population densities like 450 for India, 500 for South Korea seem large population densities because a normal country tends to be diverse in term lifestyle, inhabitation and topography, villages usually have very low population densities so they play a significant role in bringing down the overall population density.) But if we look at the megacities of India, China, USA, Russia, Germany, UAE, Australia etc, they have population densities upto 30k.

India doesn't have a single city which has a population density of 30k/km². The most densely populated Indian city is Kolkata, with a population density of 22,000/km². Population density of other extremely dense cities in India, population density of Mumbai is 21,000/km² and population density of Delhi is 12,000/km².

Because Vatican City’s land area is way less than a kilometer, we must multiply the population by 2.26 as we have to multiply the area (0.44 km²) by that same number (2.26) to get 1 square kilometer. Thus, when you multiply 825 (Vatican City’s population estimate) by the same number, 2.26, you get 1,865 people (rounded). So, Vatican City’s population density is 1,865 people/km² according to the area.

You can draw a circle around a given area and say the population density. Normally, cities are more crowded and they balance out with the rural part of a country. By that nature, city-states would be technically more densely populated than huge countries.
