Just to add to that... I remember as I worked in Frankfurt, my colleague Diana from Romania. One day she came in a t-shirt with traditional "shevica" national motivs, that I could hardly tell apart from our own bulgarian traditional clothing. She really made my day!!! I felt at home there and then.

Omg are you f-in kidding me that pissed me off so much. I've been to Romania twice and they are such amazing people, such hospitality and politeness. I can't say enough good things. Both times i visited i loved it. And they (Romanians) are times ahead of us Bulgarians when it comes to managing their country.

We love all our neighbors, maybe without the Turks. Romanians are one of the most cultured and pleasant tourists in Bulgaria, they are definitely one of the best neighbors! Merry Christmas, friends! Love Romania!

I am Turkish student, I lived with Bulgarian students in USA., they are so fun but also hardworker people, they make the best parties and they have good sense of humor :D later we travelled in Europe and we are still in contact. I am happy to have Bulgarian friends and I suggest to everyone :D

Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the secular and modern Turkish state, was a great friend of Bulgaria and even his greatest love was a beautiful Bulgarian girl. Me and my girlfriend spent 1 week in this beautiful country! On the way from the airport the taxi driver said 1 week in bulgaria? Why!? Maybe he doesn't know the beauty of Sofia all around him as he has been there so long. The parks, museums and historic buildings are everywhere, the price is so cheap and the weather and people are so pleasant! It was November but still so hot! I always recommend visitting Bulgaria - from England!

I am British and have just been on holiday to Bulgaria and it is a beautiful country had 10 nights there and really wished my bf and I could of booked two weeks as we really enjoyed it and we are strongly thinking about coming back again but need to start saving up again

@@bobantheighty6141 yeah. We call it "marțişor". In english would sound like "martzishor". I think this habit comes from Bulgaria. We give it only to girls. But when I was a child, we all got martisor. Boy or girl. For years now, we give that gift only to women. As a sign of appretiation and love. And from that day, we have 9 baba days. If you are born on 4 of a month, then that day will tell you about your life in that year, it's the fourth of the babas. If it's snowing, and the weather is bad, your year will be ruined. If it's sunny, you'll have a good year. I'm born on 18'th day of some month. That means my baba is 9th, the last one. But older traditions say you have to choose your baba before they begin with 1'st of march.

@V V My great-grandmother was from a village right on the Danube, across from Bulgaria. She spoke Bulgarian, everyone in her village did, and across the Danube the Bulgarians all spoke Romanian, they all got along very well.

Romania used cyrillic alphabet until recently. South Romania has at least 30 Cities and villages that have slavic names and many of them are named exactly like some Bulgarian cities/villages.

I feel Bulgaria like my country, even if Bulgarian language is different then mine. But in rest, I feel we are the same. In future I would like to see Romania and Bulgaria together in a same country.

I went to Sofia with my daughter in spring of 2020 for 4 days. I was impressive. I didn't know that Sofia was such a beautiful city. And in the shops we were treated like imortant guests. We visited very interesting museums. And one more thing: the Bulgarians have very very good food! All my respect for our friends, the Bulgarians! 🇷🇴🇧🇬. Hmmm,...most of them really think, that somehow the world owns them something and they always wants and they try to bend the rules. I don't like communist countries. In China alone they killed over 40 million of their own people during the cultural revolution and on top of that they lied about the virus that again killed thousands of people around the world. They also blamed Italy and the USA for the virus. Funny no one talks about that.

Sofia has a very interesting architecture...which many people hate, but some like. I personally don't like such a hodge-podge mix of different styles....some call it eclectic. But sure is different.

Hello! I am Romanian and I have a Bulgarian wife and a can say that are a LOT of similarities between the two cultures and languages I have documented more than about 150 words that are identical or similar and I am sure that are a lot more. We all came from the big Thracian Family which are spreading the roots over thousands of years. Also worth to mention that a study was made by the Hamburg University in Germany a DNA study on over 2000 peoples and the result was that the Romanians share about 80% from their DNA with Bulgarian and Greeks which makes us basically Brothers or maybe more like Cousins. We learn it from the age of 7 with lessons almost equal the bulgarian lessons and watch English TV, play English games, etc.( from ½ to ¾ the time of bulgarian lessons) I even prefer English because it is way easier than bulgarian, which is by the way the third official language of the European union and the one of the hardest languages in the world.

Wow, Sofia looks gorgeous! I'm sorry for being out of topic, I like this aesthetic so much! It looks like a real, lived-in city. No superficial architecture or over the top monuments or even obscene landmarks. You have regular historical statues, some old but well retained buildings, I noticed multiple pedestrian streets and a lot of apartment blocks that just looked aesthetically pleasing.

Thank you, this is makes me feel less sour. I was very saddened to learn that from a handful of people interviewed, two were not sharing a good opinion about Romania, my country. I have always personally loved Bulgaria, it is a wonderfully beautiful country, and I would adore to be able to visit it again someday. Peace! ✌️

I like very much BULGARIA, GREECE, TURKEY and also HUNGARY. But NOT the corrupt politicians who make us hate each other. 🇧🇬🇬🇷🇹🇷🇭🇺 🇷🇴

After living in Bulgaria for 1+ years I can honestly say that Bulgarians is the most hospitable people I've ever met. From my point of view it looks like you interviewed a few expats in the beginning of the video (non-Bulgarians). Bulgarian people really has a place in my heart and the country is beautiful. The people's mentality is really the best I've seen and I strongly believe the country will only progress forward towards prosperity and a bright future.

@@thadayu5639 , I don't know which people you view as Western, but I've been a few times in the US and I think they are very nice, cool, and social people. Also, I have traveled across Europe a lot, since I live in Bulgaria, and I do think that Europeans are very nice people, fun to talk to, etc. And, to be honest, in my view, Europe is a super nice place with nice people.

And some Serbs view Western people as sonewhat more reserved and more serious than Balkan people. Thus I thought you are comparing Bulgarians with Westerners (especially Englishmen and Scandinavians).

Do not forget we have common enemy. Bulgaria opposed Serbia in1912 and that is why Abanian state exist. As recognized Kossovo which is Albanian.

@@seyl717 In 1912 Serbia violated preowar agreement that will let Bulgaria in predominantly populated with Bulgarians parts of Vardarska.Serbia demanded that Bulgaria assist them to conquer Albania and than let Eastern Vardarska to Bulgaria. Bulgaria refused. So Serbia went in secret coalition with Greece and Romania to stand against Bulgaria.. Remember in 1912 Bulgaria refused to Serbia to be against Albania. Bulgaria rather fought it. Albanians and Bulgarians in occupied by Serbia territories revolted together and suffered together under brutal Serbian occupation. Kosovo is for Kossovo Albanians forever. Bulgaria first recognized Kossovo. It is Albanian land. Albania recognized the Bulgarian minority in Albania and does not torture them. Albanians are our brothers.

I've worked with Romanians (many of them) and they were all fun and very nice. Egypt was amazing to visit and I am looking forward to visit again. Also I have been to Turkey many times and it is a very nice country and people are SUPER friendly. So that one guy in my opinion is just ignorant. So these are all just personal experiences and views in the video, not based on any general stereotype that ALL Bulgarians have. What makes me proud of Bulgarians is that most of them said that they don't dislike any country and that every country has something good about it and that there are nice people everywhere in the world. So true!

this is mainly in Sofia and the big cities, in the smaller ones you can meet very good people with very bad general culture. And yet, many young people here, and not only them, know English better than the people in most European countries. This is due to the fact that Bulgarians are not great nationalists when it comes to the Bulgarian language, although it is great and we are open to speaking foreign languages, while there are countries where people are more nationalistic and do not like to speak English. eg Russians and Germans)

I'm french unfortunately I haven't been to Bulgaria yet but funny story short I used to live in London and was working for a bulgarian landscape gardening company (I was the only foreigner out of them) and they were the nicest and most honest people I've met in London and worked with I'd say in my 10 years experience in the UK.

I am from Romania, i saw alot of your videos and from what i see the bulgarians are the most kind and polite -they're so considerate about people's feelings and don't like to say something hurtfull, it is amazing. I bet theyr personallity is that warm all the time.

I had no opinion on Bulgarians. Wow that has changed! They seem like really nice people. Must visit post pandemic. Happy Christmas from England

A lot of this might seem as rude, but I see it as brutal honesty. Fake politeness and political correctens are rare, but people here are generaly nice to foreigners. They offer help and their friendship even when they don't speak the language. Look around for videos from tourist about Bulgaria maybe. We are not exactly savages... :)

Hm, this is not common to hear from westerner that Bulgaria is his favourite country. Fun fact: There is another Dutch who lives in my flat and he says he lives here only because it is cheaper while in the Netherlands is so expensive. So yeah greetings from Bulgaria.

I lived and worked in the Netherlands, in Vlaardingen for a little bit while saving money for college. I found Dutch people to be very friendly, calm and genuine. I'm happy a Dutch person sees my country in the same positive light i see theirs. Much love from Bulgaria ❤️

Legit stunned that there were people saying "Romania". Are you kidding me? That's our best friend among neighbours. As to the general video, notice how in this video more than in the other videos people are open to express which country they dislike. That's a thing about Bulgarians, we don't bother to say what's on our mind. Sometimes/often it's bullshit but even then, I believe it's a good thing that we're natural and don't fake any niceness that isn't genuine. You get honesty. Either way, much love to Romania (to compensate for the two dudes in this video) and to anyone reading this comment no matter where you're from. And merry Christmas! Great video again, Gus!

Yeah, it is quite nice of them to say what they think. Even though that is the reason they are considered 2nd most racist country in the Europe. I am kind of worried about Slovakia, because we are considered the most racist, but to be honest, there is not such a big difference between average Austrian and average Slovak.
