As a Ukrainian, I can tell that we googled Russia not because we like it lol :D And same for living - it's pretty typical postcolonial relationship with territorial center-based empires (like Ottomans, Moscow, etc. - the ones that continuously expanded from their centers.). Nations Russia conquered in 18-19-20 century were heavily russified (meaning they were dissolved in indescribable Russian culture) by various methods but for this case most important one is moving Russians to this territories and moving representatives of russified nations out. Therefore, you have many Russians living in those countries and many representatives of those countries living in Russia. Ukraine is probably the biggest country on Russia's list of targets and has been Russian top-1 priority for a few centuries so there you have a lot of Ukrainians living in Russia - and it's just happy coincidence that they still identify themselves as Ukrainians. It is not cultural ties nor love for the empire. At least, not something historically natural. Although if the process of russification ended a few centuries ago, it may start to seem to be "historically natural" - like those many ancient peoples absorbed by empires long enough time ago. You can even still see the same thing with Turkey and Bulgaria/Macedonia. Even tho their turkification ended more than 100 years ago. I'm sorry if my terminology isn't very clear because I studied this subject in French initially.

You're actually able to explain yourself very well, I was surprised by how good your English is. As for what you described, that's what I expected, to be honest. Subjugation of local culture is sadly what plagued the majority of Post-Soviet countries, and especially Ukraine. I remember when people just called it a smaller version of Russia, even after the initial annexation of Crimea. To me, that was always unsettling considering that Ukrainians do claim to be culturally distinct. When I started looking into Ukrainian culture I realized that the difference between Ukraine and Russia is actually a lot greater than people realize. I'm rooting for your country, and the preservation of your culture. The Russian invasion has proven that you Ukrainians are a strong and courageous society. Sending weapons to brave men and women fighting for the nation is - as Zelenskyy said - an investment for peace. You are a strong group of people and I admire you very much. Слава Україні. 🇳🇱❤🇺🇦

@@YaPinGYouTu Our country has generally been very tolerant towards foreign citizens, and especially Ukrainians, considering the unjustifiable brutality of Russia's full-scale invasion. We also sent two of our ships to the Ukrainian navy. There are Ukrainian flags visible from windows in pretty much every street in Amsterdam, and I hear a lot of Ukrainian and Russian being spoken by refugees. Whenever I hear any Ukrainian or Russian, I immediately say "Слава Україні", even to a random passerby. So far, I have not encountered anyone in the street who supports the invasion, and the only response I got was "Героям Слава", and I always smile in return. I know that Ukraine has been devastated as a nation. However, I think that if Ukrainians cannot return to their home country, that they should at least be allowed to stay in the European Union. As a people group, Ukrainians are my heroes, even though I have zero ancestral ties to the nation. As someone with both Russian and Ukrainian friends (of course the Russians I know are openly against the invasion their government started), I hope the absolute best for both. A free and independent Ukraine, and a free, non-imperialist and democratic Russia who will provide full war reparations to Ukraine. I'm sure a lot of anti-war Russians can agree here.

Hello from Australia. We have the biggest Maltese community in the world outside of Malta. Many migrants from there arrived after WW2. It's very common to have friends with the surname Spiteri. One of their favourite snack foods are these cheese twist things called Twisties, and they are actually Australian and we invented by our national science agency called the CSIRO. They have become huge in Malta proper and most Maltese people see them as very culturally Maltese, even though they're very much Aussie.

Politics aside, Canadians will likely become even more united and accepting of all others with each successive generation. Quebec's biggest problem is that they cheer for the Montreal Canadiens. Similar to why many Canadians do not like Torontonians, they cheer for the Maple Leafs. With teams also in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Ottawa, it is best not to ask Canadians who they like or dislike during hockey season.

It's kinda like the Danes moving to Sweden - people commute over the bridge to work in Copenhagen, so Danes will move to Sweden because it's so much cheaper. The cost of living in Sweden is about *25%* lower than DK and the rents in Copenhagen are the highest in the country but the Swedish side, 5 miles away, has a 28% lower [average] housing cost compared to DK. We don't need a passport to for the trip, so it's like living in Essex and working in Kent but saving nearly 1/3 (if they were living in Copenhagen as opposed to the 1/4 if they lived in the rest of DK) of the cost of living by doing so - kind of a common sense to move. Edit: Also think the Faroe Islands is mostly a logical thing - they're part of the Danish Kingdom and there's 1 University there with 5 faculties and little chance of work experience in a variety of sectors. Think Shetlands in the UK - kinda makes sense that they'd move to England or Scotland to further their careers..

There's also a smaller section of Danes who have spouses or partners that come from other countries and find it much easier to navigate the Swedish immigration system than the Danish one, so they just move to Malmö and work and visit their families in Denmark.

If there were Google street views of Canadian cities in the winter you'd just get piles of snow ploughed off to the side, creating a sad sad viewing experience. If you don't like the snow, but wanna move to Canada, there is very limited choice, Vancouver/west coast would be your only option.

To put Canada's immigration to context, in 2022, we brought in 437,000 immigrants into the country, which is little over 1% of the population of 40 million from that year alone. Canada is expecting to increase our immigration goals to about 527,000 for the rest of 2023. Needless to say that we don't have the raw numbers of immigration (legally) like the USA but by capita, we are among the highest migrate population ratio (A quarter of Canada's population were born outside the nation).

As a swede that went to the UK to study for a while before dipping out of there i must say that its mindboggling how the UK as a cold country can build such shit houses with no insolation and how all the systems in place whenever you want to do something are so overly complicated, in Sweden everything is digital and takes one button press. Also the roads and city planning is so bad and in order to get electricity I had to go down to some sketchy store and pay with cash to get a code i would put in to the electricity machine. Couldn't live there for more than 4 months. lol

The map of people wanting to move, its interesting the fact that its based on searches, because for Morocco I would assume its Spain as in fact its the solution to migrate to Europe and lots of people do come from Morocco here, and in Hungary many many students go to study to the Netherlands, so it not that much about wanting to move there, but going to study abroad and accomodating themselves
