I'm a Bessey fan too. I always appreciate seeing Dan in a video, he has a nice way with him, he's knowledgeable and laid back. He's the sort of guy I would love (in the enjoy sense, not physical!) and trust, to do work for me. What a nice fellow.

Oh thank you Roger! Thank you Dan! That's some good ad vise 🤣 Never heard of a joist clamp (but that doesn't mean much!) and it looks very useful. You really live and learn on this channel! It looks like Bessey for me, but I'm going to keep an eye on Ebay and car boot sales for some of those older ones too. That old one where you fix two small units to a batten to make really long sash clamp is genius! Cheers chaps!

Good review. But from my experience, the best clam is the clamp you have at that point in time..... You gotta get the job done, so you use what you have. Later you think, maybe a different clamp would be better. Then you look at the cost.... and you start to think... well... what I had worked..... why not just keep using that. So..... Clamping is complicated. 🙂

I've had the mickey taken out of me for the amount of clamps I've got but they all have their uses. Some just don't fit in where you want them or the clamping actuator gets in the way of something. Bessey are by far one of the best.

I have a few of the long bessey clamps that Dan shows at the end, and I'm not a fan at all. Very unwieldy, and as Dan mentions glue can be a nightmare on them. If I'm so out of parallel that I need the clamping power that they provide then I've done something wrong. Pipe clamps, aluminium clamps, or the wooden ones that Dan shows are much better for most applications I find. I should really sell my bessey ones! I do like their other clamps of course.
