rules of the road matter only when the other driver knows the same rule you do.Always use defensive driving and dont expect the other driver to know that you have the right of way and crash into you!

been watching dash-cam videos, it is absolutely insane how many accidents occur in intersections because a driver with the technical right of way just speeds through when there's another car doing some stupid thing like going through a red light. And so often the stupid car is visible far away, giving a more than sufficient reaction time! Don't just assert your confidence that you have the right of way or something stupid and cause a crash...

There are loads of idiots on the roads. I literally came and searched for this because someone was at a stop sign to cross the road I was currently trying to turn left off of (only two stop signs not four) and they blew right in front of me I had to slam the brakes. I honked and they gave me this incredulous look like "what're you doing?!" It actually made me second guess 12 years of driving experience. But yeah, don't just use right of way to justify getting t-boned. Not worth it.

I’m so insanely confused. And I swear, each video I watch seems to have different rules. I was told in one video that whoever arrives first has the right of way. But apparently that isn’t so.

First in First out (whoever gets there first) still applies. Most of these scenarios are for when everyone arrives at the same time. It also helps me to remember that if everyone is going straight and shows up at the same time, cars take turns in **counterclockwise order

Reminds me of two boats approaching each other at 90 degrees. The green light on starboard would give the other boat approaching from starboard the right of way; while the red light on port would require other boat approaching from port to yield. Similar situation at intersections. Maybe they should design cars with a red light to port and a green light to starboard.

Thanks for the helpful video. I have a question. In an uncontrolled intersection where east-west bound road is four lane road and north-south bound road is 2 way lane road - no lights or stop sign etc. If car A going northbound needs to make left and a car B going southbound needs to make right, does car A needs to yield to car B even if car A gets to the intersection first? This is what confuses me. Looking up the right of way rule for my state, it says the car that gets to an uncontrolled intersection first has right of way. So, which right of way takes priority in this case?

Right turns ALWAYS have right of way over left turns

I came back to this. The person who got to the stop sign first has the right away especially left turns. Then second car then , the third. Today someone who got to stop sign third , decided to run the stop sign and steal the second car turn and my turn. I wanted to be sure I wasn't wrong. We almost crashed .

One would take turns

At a 4-way stop sign, say I'm traveling east -> west, and another car that is traveling west -> east arrived first. Do I still have to wait for that car to pass the intersection, or can I go right after I stop, with the other car still in the intersection? (since we're not in each others paths)

okay i don’t know if i get it or not. like at a four way stop i know that whoever comes in first goes first, so if at a four way stop if nobody knows who came first; the cars turning would go last and the cars going straight would go first? and if you’re taking a right turn, you’d go first if the other driver is going left?
