@@-BUFFALOMan you can get a great new transmitter/receiver combo for only 3-50 bucks, some even including a gyro for "avc" stability control. Well worth it, these things are much cheaper than they were 20-30 years ago. Simple plug and play installation, tune the radio adjustments and go. The armmas are still a great value, some of the toughest most indestructible rc's out there. Check out RCDUDE81's channel; he does some insane jumps with his collection. Of course the 1/8 scale ones are going to be more durable though (and faster).

Once again a real world view.I enjoy how you seem to hit the most prevalent points.Keep it up !

This typhon now comes with much longer range and a fan on the motor.

Great vid guys, glad I came across it!! 👍 Glad I went w the Arrma Typhon 6S over the Rustler 4x4 VXL, It's coming in 2moro, will be uploading an unboxing video, so excited!! I was also aware that the controller on the Arrma is crap, so I also ordered an R7FG Radiolink receiver since I have an RC4GS Radiolink controller already that I use on my 2WD Rustler that's configured for speed runs. Hmm, may do speed run test comparing both, a 2200kv vs 2050kv! 😋

When I pulled my 6s out of the box and the transmitter I thought it was a joke. Dx5c is what I went with.

Same problem with my Typhon 6s, also goes out of range and you have to walk up right next to it to reconnect. However my Senton 3s does not have that issue although i think it's the same Spectrum radio. Maybe the receiver, the antenna is tiny on the Typhon.

Two grown kids! Luv it.

Arrma has changed it radio systems to spectrum systems and have ditched the tactics. To race it you need stand mid from start to finish for connected range. FYI

great video guys. :) Good old traxxas, they are still one of if not the best bashers on the market today, i have been an ower of traxxas models for nearly 20 years now and still love then to this day lol, yup i have a few stampedes, slash, revo, t-maxx, but have a good few other brands too. :)

In my large scale ARRMA ten, the range problem did not exist,( everythin almmost the same) although I noticed delays in reactions with Trxxas Rustler, I think it's because theres a small and short antenna in ARRMAS placed in the addition of the esc and fan wheel in my gibg rock at Typhon you can not see it at all ...It could be improved somehow by DIY.

I much rather my fan to be loud then my ESC burning up

They most likely had the Spektrum radio - if you can get the Typhon with a Tactic radio then go that route. I grabbed the last one from my local Hobby shop.

Yup, it is the Tactic radio. The problem with range is that ARRMA places the antenna in the vehicle way low, so it easily can lose signal.

Lol that’s the recommendation for the battery lol. A 30c lipo? 😂 😂

RC trucks are more fun and better controlled with an AIO and goggle. Just my opinion, thanks for sharing your other passion.

I know this is a old video, but just watched it. I had the same issue, I contacted Horizon who sent me a new receiver very fast and it fixed the range issue. This is not an uncommon issue, I had the same thing happen with a $1000. XMax, boy was I upset. Traxxas after much effort sent me a new reciever and it too fixed my range issue.

All the GoPros from the Hero 5 to Hero 7 have a built in GPS. You then just use the GoPro QUIK software to overlay whatever you wish.

Thinking of getting the arrma typhon 3s blx what battary was you using a 2s 0r 3s and did you change the gearing or was it just standard out of box cheers great video

Oh wow, I found Andre on another channel! Lol. I think you may have something wrong with your tx or rx because I had more range on mine stock out of the box. That being said, I got turned on to the Dumbo rc tx from Kevin Talbot's channel and for around $35 us you get a tx/rx combo that has almost 3x the range of even the traxxas radio. Its a no frills radio but it works great

I have an armor scent Mega I upgraded it with the Traxxas Velineon vxl-3s system and put a Traxxas receiver and remote and it is straight a beast

Deffenitly 2 very cool RC! I don't like saying one is better than the other but R C Ground Buggies/Trucks should not need a Return to. Home. Not sure of price difference but all the walking to get your RC truck is what will get it smashed ran over even in Parking Lots! Like to see same test in mud and hills! 👍

Impressive speed on both! But the range matters a lot. Irritating to constantly go to retreive it. 😁

I replaced it with a Spectrum DX2 with the gyro system. Now keep in mind that is when Arrma used the Tactic raido systems, the system that comes stock in them now is much better.

@@andrewap77 are you sure? The tactic ttx300 was a good radio with 250m+ range. The new stx2 radio system is terrible theres a huge delay, it feels cheap in the hand and the range is less than 100m

@@anonymouswriter448 yeah I'm talking about this. Dumbo x6. I'm waiting for my granite blx 4x4 to come and I will try this with spektrum first. It is my first hobby grade rc as well so I don't know a lot but everyone is talking about changing transmitter on Arrma. I'm a teen as well so my parents don't let me spend a lit money (it took 2 years to make them let me buy the granite) so if I will buy another transmitter this will be dumbo. Some people say that in Arrma it feels like driving a different car. I just think it is a good choice in my situation.

I have the same Typhon and never have range issues? Maybe ya got a bad one or your really driving it super far. Love that Arrma although I need to get a fan for the rustler or else it overheats when you upgrade the pinion!

Unfortunately all ARMMAS have range issues due to using the Spektrum radio system. Check my channel for other ARRMA RC car reviews.

try the typhon 3s with the 26t pinion gear and hoon tires ......alot faster speed

I used to love TraxxASS until I got my first Arrma Typhon. After that sold my crazy upgraded Rustler VXL, Mini E Revo and my brand new E Revo 2.0 which broke the first 20 minutes in driving it. After that nothing but Arrma and I couldn’t be happier. Arrma are frickin tanks. Radios are trash but that’s nothing compared to the BS Traxxas puts you through.

Raul Deras I have the 6s v4... this is my 2nd one. I had the Outcast 6s BLX, Kraton 6s v3 and my first and favorite Arrma Typhon 6s v2. Unfortunately I had to sell that lot. But I couldn’t resist and got the Typhon 6s v4 and maaaan are they fun. Only problem is nobody bashes around here anymore. I’m probably gonna sell it cuz it’s just sitting here. I have it listed on Mercari.

Check the year of the vid. Horizon Hobby, which owns Arrma had so many complaints about this that they eventually changed the communication system. You must have purchased your Arrma in the past year or so.

The 6s version is an awesome RC platform. The 3s version not so much. I have a senton which is same platform and have had many problems. My outcast 6s on the other hand has been trouble free.

@@oliverbekker712 The V3 transmitter is supposed to give you better functionality and range. The short answer is yes its improved but the big one is that the radio is much improved and its one of the fastest 1/8 scales for the money out there.

If you own a GOPRO HERO 5 or higher, it is part of the GPS.

That is absurdly short range on the Arma. Makes me wonder if the Antenna is broken on the receiver. Might be worth some exploratory surgery, or maybe just swapping out to another TX/RX combo.

I just bought a Traxxas VXL, and I'll say, running on hot asphalt on a humid 95 degree day, the ESC doesn't overheat for at least 40 minutes of run time. There's a 20 dollar fan upgrade that I have on my 2wd Rustler, and I'll be adding something similar to my 4wd one. I don't have the range problems the Arrma has, and around the track, my Rustler keeps right up with a local guy who has had an Arrma for a while

So you are spending an extra $20 on a car that is already $100 more than the typhon out of the box, hmm. Well on the Typhon you can get a 20t pinion for $20 and a Dumbo rc tx/rx combo for around $35 that gets 3x to 4x the range of even the traxxas radio and still come in $45 cheaper than the Traxxas stock. Not to mention I have broke a few toe links on my rustler and have yet to break anything on the Typhon. I have a couple of vehicles from both companies and I gotta say I love both the rustler and typhon but I find myself grabbing the typhon more often than the rustler since I got it.

I have both cars the rustlers way more durable I’d say but both are pretty good

As of today 2/27/22 this ARMA got a new Transmitter from Horizon Hobby the (1) Spektrum™ 2.4GHz SLT3™ 3-Channel Transmitter I believe the car will get better range & speed if you raced with Andre today !!

its two different typs of cars. The rustler is for dirt drive and tyres for that, the Typhon, smaller tyres, and typically a car for plain tarrain...

The range on your typhon is not my experience. Given I do have the 6S version, but I have not hit an area yet where the signal cut out and the vehicle stopped. In testing range, the car is so far away the commands are delayed and I cant even see the car clearly, but it has never cut out like in the video. My car is a few years old, I assume V1.

One Edit, The antenna of my car has a straw supporting it in the vertical position. Not sure where your car's antenna was in the video. Perhaps this is the issue, or the transmitter batteries as already suggested.

I have a granite BLX 4x4 brushless and an Outcast 6s. Waiting on my 3s Typhon. Those Arrmas that I have are a BEAST.

Still in love with the Rustler, especially with the longer range of the remote :P

Interesting to see a GoPro on the ARRMA rather than a GoPro on a Karma

I think the problem is you're not using fresh batteries in your controller.

I was going to get Arrma but seeing this video probably stick to Traxxas

RANGE issues have been fixed in the new models. There is now a newer receiver and newer controller.

What if you race some drones?

The typhon runs over 100kph with 26t pinion (i got mine to 104kph and with 4s [different esc] 115kph)

The slt3 radio on arrma is traaaash,recommend dumborc, i got one on my 6s (8s max5) and it is perfect, tested it on 6s 120 kmh and on 8s 150 kmh

The range...big yikes. I have almost every type of Traxxas other that the Bandit. I think I will get one of these and change the receiver.

I would sell all those Traxxas’ and get the tank Arrmas. They’re 6s beasts!

The V2 Typhon 3s was undrivable garbage straight out of the box. Horrible Spektrum radio w/ latency & range issues, worthless servo(could not steer car), leaking shocks, unsealed bearings, plastic driveshaft that was ruined within an hour after pebbles wedged in between it and the heatsink, massive steering slop, etc. Seemed like a steal at $299 but literally within 2 hours of owning it, I’d already spent $200 more on a new radio and servo. I had to add metal threaded body shocks, a Yeah Racing Tornado motor fan, sealed bearings, new driveshaft, new Yeah Racing Tornado ESC fan(og fan died), and I dialed out as much steering slop as possible. $300+ on top of the $300 purchase price and it’s a beefy little ripper that I love to drive. I hear the V3 has some nice upgrades that solve the V2 problems. In Arrma’s defense, they did send me a new Tactic radio to replace the junk Spektrum after I emailed to tell them that the Spektrum radio was unacceptable at any price point. I don’t expect much from a $300 rtr, but I do expect it to work satisfactorily out the box. It failed miserably. I now like the Typhon a bit more than my Traxxas stuff after throwing a good amount of $$ at it, but Traxxas products work better directly out of the box.

That's the v2 Typhon that had radio issues. The new v3 that is coming out now has a great radio with no issues plus more improvements and is still about $100 cheaper than the Rustler 3s vavxl. Easy choice here my friends

Yes Traxxas has the range but Armma tough is more than a logo. Traxxas will break if you look at it while Arrmas can take a pretty good hit. On 3s 11.1 I like my Granite much better. Hits 50 MPH out of the box on 3s and is very stable at speed. I think I would still like to have the Rustler VXL 4x4. I like it lot's.

Batteries were both very new

I was hoping this was a 2WD Rustler!! But, I guess you have to do 4wd VS 4wd to make it fair, but my 2 favorite RC ever (in 20 Years of owning RC's!) is the Traxxas Slash 2WD, which is kinda weird when you consider my Worst RC (Worst handling) is the 2WD Traxxas Bandit! I have a super modded one that has been lengthened by 5-6cm & also made Wider by 6-7cm & Still its terrible! Unlike the Slash the Bandits just cant turn & it either under-steers like crazy or it over-steers & spins out/around!
