Fun fact, Ford was also going to own Ferrari but Ferrari backed out last second. Thus Ford specifically poured tons of money and time into developing the ford gt just to beat ferarri at the 24 hours of Le Mons, which they were wildly successful at doing. All just to rub it into Ferrari's face for backing out of a deal.

I drove Punto from 10 year is going to be next month car done successfully 389,989 kms on odo and car is lovingly superb never give problem Fiat is awesome But suzuki sucks worst brand ever own in my entire car owning life worst brand worst products unreliable in my case my swift done only 89087 kms on odo and car engine blew off and i done service on time spend everything car needs to be replace worst service worst brand worst cars i never own suzuki again Even my Uncle owns a Fiat Palio 2003 done 390,976kms on odo but still runs awesome but his suzuki vitara sucks done 108,217. Kms in a very crying way breakdowns every week if you don't drive that peace of jerk always want service startup again

I am used to non Czech speakers pronouncing Škoda as Skoda (instead of "Shkoda") but Skids?! That's a new one.

Fiat didn't take over Chrysler, the two companies merged into FCA, Fiat and Chrysler (and their sub brands) are both sub brands of FCA.

Didn't Ford and Mazda have a relationship at one point. Mazda should be know as the worst auto marketing company because they have great cars but most don't even think of Mazda when looking for a car. That's sad.

Yeah they had ties for sure. I believe Ford owned around 30 percent of Mazda at one point before selling like 20 percent. Then shortly after they went their seperate way. I agree with you it seems like Mazda doesn't get much attention nowadays. Marketing doesn't seem strong at all.

Well the way I learned to pronounce it was with a T... My first language was Espanol. I also used to pronounce mustang as "moo-stang"

Very nice video. The only thing is that 1. Daimler is pronounced “dime- ler” not “dame- ler” (in German) 2. Maybach is pronounced “my- back or my-bach” not “may-back” 3. Abarth is pronounced “uh- bart” (like apart with a d instead of a p not “a-bath” 4. Fiat is pronounced “fee-aht” not fee-at” 5. Mercury is pronounced “merk-yur-ee” not “merk-er-ee” 6. Chevrolet is pronounced “chev-roe-lay” not “chev-roe-lett” 7. Renault is pronounced “rehn-O” not “rehn-aht” 8. Tata (motors) is pronounced “tah-tah” not “tadah” or “tayda” 9. This is about the most interesting video comments I have read which mostly talked about the mispronunciation of the different names of cars. However the video contains lots of information about the ownership of the various brands of cars some of which are surprised to me. Even if you believe that, on a consumer level Mitsubishi still used Chrysler's motor along with the entire 1G's body. There'd be no eclipse without Chrysler, Chrysler got out ironically around the same time the last good Eclipse came out, the 99gst. I remember the first "more powerful" 240hp 2000 Eclipse a raced, it was sooo sad. They've been a shitty joke e ever since.

CORRECTION: Dodge is not owned by Fiat, Dodge is owned by FCA US (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US). I'll explain it: Fiat and Chrysler were both dying, so they both united and created FCA, so yeah, FCA is an Italian-American company, owned by Mr. John Elkann (Born in April 1st, 1976, New York, New York, USA). FCA headquarters is located at Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. But nevertheless, under FCA there's 2 branches: the FCA US branch, and the FCA Italy branch. FCA owns more auto patents than anyone else. First electric lights, first unibody (Lancia) and hundreds more. What annoys me is that FCA should have folded FIAT, Lancia. And Alfa Romeo into CJD dealerships. They have dominated the auto industry on 6 continents in Motorsport in everything from NASCAR to F1. The fit would have been fantastic. Otherwise, Sergio Marchionne was right on with his leadership decisions before his announced retirement and untimely death.

I never knew Mitsubishi made other things than cars until I saw a Mitsubishi air conditioning unit being used at an expensive hotel in Florida. My mind was blown to pieces that day. Also, didn’t know that!

Awesome video. I knew 90% of this stuff because although I I live in the US, I am not originally from here. So I grew up with exposure to every brand you listed. I loved that you put this all together for the American side of the world. Many people have never heard of many of these brands. I laughed when you mentioned the TATA brand. Grew up taking TATA busses to school as a child. We pronounced it TawTa. Still don't know what is right. Lol

Tata nano was actually a success, it didn't have too much success because of the competitor maruti swift. But since tata acquired jaguar and Land Rover. Land Rover and jag became a lot famous in India. Especially Land Rover since it's a SUV that is comfortable for families

I drove Punto from 10 year is going to be next month car done successfully 389,989 kmson odoand car is lovingly superb never give problem Fiat is awesome But suzuki sucks worst brand ever own in my entire car owning life worst brand worst products unreliable in my case my swift done only 89087 kms on odo and car engine blew off and i done service on time spend everything car needs to be replace worst service worst brand worst cars i never own suzuki again Even my Uncle owns a Fiat Palio 2003 done 390,976kms on odo but still runs awesome but his suzuki vitara sucks done 108,217. Kms in a very crying way breakdowns every week if you don't drive that peace of jerk always want service startup again

Some of the brands mentioned here, I have driven before. My Dad was an engineer and bought a lot of second-hand cars, so here's a list of some of the vehicles that got me through high school and college in USA. (This is pretty long, so if you don't like it I won't do this again.) -Fiat 128 It looks like a top-hat with wheels. 4-speed manual. -AMC "Sportabout" wagon. I took off from a light and accidentally punched the brake pedal after being used to having a clutch. I broke the front right wheel strut and the wheel dragged on the wheel housing for a mile before I got home. A guy passed me in the right lane, heard the noise, and looked. That blank stare was hilarious! -Fiat "Strada" (made in 1979?) This car was left-hand drive, but the ignition keyhole was also on the left of the steering column. You could stand outside the driver's door and see the keyhole. You had to turn the key back toward you to start it. 5-speed manual. Torque steer was so bad that you could straight-arm the steering wheel and change lanes using only the gas pedal if you practiced a few times. -Volkswagen T2. Flat-4, air-cooled, 4-speed manual. It was fun to gently fish-tail this thing on gravel roads. One time my cousin and I were hungry in a "bad" neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The middle seat was taken out and we locked it up tight and opened the crank-operated sunroof and enjoyed our Little Caesar's Pizza, sitting inside in safety. Subaru GL 4-door sedan. Flat-4 and 5-speed manual. Great, reliable car. NOW FOR THE FUN: Before the Subaru was Volkswagen "Rabbit" diesel, with 230k miles on it. The rubber engine mount grommets had hardened and that thing could basically shake the fillings out of your teeth. I'm surprised it didn't shake the paint off. Passengers said they thought they were in an airplane. With the engine idling, standing outside the car with the driver's door open was so noisy with the dash shaking that you couldn't hear the engine. Close the door and then it's nice and quiet with just the engine. Front wheel drive, but the hand-brake was the back wheels. That was FUN after a snow. I would take joy rides of university classmates in the mostly empty parking area. One time I spun around a corner and flew into reverse and turned another corner and then perfectly parked in a parallel space. Everyone in the car was clapping. Turn the air conditioner off to get more power on hills, etc. The air conditioner drain hose kept clogging and the passenger foot-well would fill up with water. Easy to find your car, because it's the only one in the lot with steamed up windows. That moisture caused the headliner to become detached from the ceiling and sag down and I couldn't see out the rear-view mirror. I would reach back and "stick it back up again", and that didn't last long. These vehicles were crap, except for the T2, but the memories are priceless. I moved to Taiwan in 1996 and now I drive a "gogoro S1" motorcycle (electric). I think there's kind-of an improvement here. Love your videos, Christian!

that's not true. Hyundai Motors was founded by Chung Ju Yung in 1967. Kia was founded by Kim Chul Ho in 1944. Hyundai acquired Kia Motors in 1998.

I was waiting for VW because it was the brand I knew about ownership and Tata is Indian I didn't expected that they would include but yes they have

Fiat doesn’t own Chrysler per-say they do own all the stocks but they dont own them like a subsidiary the two companies were merge into one auto maker and there now called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles they are the eighth larget auto manufacturers in the world

Well, I have two Mercedes (2005 C220 and 2007 E420), both made by Mercedes and a 1984 BMW 635CSI project car I'm restoring - made by BMW. My cars were made by their manufacturers in Germany with absolute German precision and no humor. Simple as that.

ask him to pronounce pugeot. lol i like this guy.. i am a life long car guy. i love odd and end facts, inside the car world. been a car guy for 20+ years, my favorite genre is old school rally, like the fiat 131 abarth, 110 renault alpine, lancia stratos, ect... ( love group b). cut him a little slack, i'm fairly sure he's new to anything that isn't american, japanese, or itlaian (of the ferrari, lamborghini, or pagaini) in descent. he'll learn bro. takes a lot of time we are all car guys here we didn't learn in one day/month/year/decade. it's a life choice to be a car guy/girl. you just keep learning to love and teach all that you know.
