The softcap of Haste is when your specs longest cast time spell goes below 0.75 sec cast time. Once you go below this value haste does not help you anymore, because your character will just have to wait for the GCD (which is 0.75 sec at the lowest for casters) before being able to cast again. So it doesn't matter if the spell is 0.5 seconds cast, the GCD is 0.75 and you will need to wait for 0.25 seconds until being able to cast again. For Fire Mages for example, you cast Fireball or Scorch in order to generate Pyroblasts, but you can continue gaining haste until you can just spam cast Pyroblasts instead. For Pyroblast to reach 0.75 seconds cast time, you need 353% haste because the baseline cast time is 3.4 seconds and 3.4 is 353% more than 0.75.

This is true but its going to take alot of haste before you get to that point, but I think fire mage is one of the most fun classes to play in the pandaria remix because of the crit and haste components.

@@TheWoWCasual My point is that 100% haste is only a softcap if your spec's longest cast is 1.5 seconds. This also doesn't apply to melee since they just attack faster with more haste. Classes that use energy also have a static global cooldown of 1 second which is not modified by haste.

Few points, mastery is double because unlike vers it doesnt scale gems! Only vers increase gems dmg. Vers also has defensive value, trivializing every content and making you a tank, though not sure if it increases leech healing. But I've seen people with 125% vers that had 62% dmg reduction. Haste increases gem proc, dot ticking and gcd, though i dont remember at what % gcd stops reducing, it's prob the best after 50% or so crit with lighting rod, but people are using lifestorm and you can get to 200% easily with the buff so it loses value. Leech, speed and avoidance cap at 20% in retail and I've been told they don't go over 49% in remix. Similarly I've been told mastery also stops at 35k but am not sure. Ultimately I suppose it depends how good your mastery is, but otherwise versa is probably bis for everyone with haste second after you have decent crit. For healing just use vindication gem and cold front. Most other healing gems don't work on yourself I'm afraid, even though only martyr says so.

Verse and Crit as far as I udnerstand are the only gem scalers but alot of this depends on your cloak, I actually think prismatic gems are almost more important for your alts rather than your main as your main is likely to have so many secondaries from playing, but its just interesting to discuss all these soft caps and hard caps in a world of warcraft game mode where you are basically going to be far exceeding these normal amounts we aim for

At max level / gear I'm sitting at 96% crit, 88% haste, 103% mastery and 97% vers.. I don't know any of this under-the-hood stuff, am I overcapping on any of these stats? Kinda just wanting to know what to gem in my gear so I can just scrap all my extra gems and be done with it.

okay so generally, crit caps at 100% so does haste, Vers can go a bit higher and mastery can go to 245% so you can still keep stockpiling on those

Shows haste and mastery can actually effect past 100% in the remix , seeing gains on haste paste 125% and like you said mastery is infinite

Avoidance stat is completly garbage, im avoiding it and getting rid of it completly. Main focus on haste,mastery,crit and some versatility. Speed is also useless bcs that few% of getting faster running or walking isnt important at all.

all your stats are going to cap out on the cap eventually, you should focus traditional stats in the beginning but you might as well focus the stats you cannot gain through the cloak eventually on your gear, prismatic cannot run avoidance so you should basically focus on gem scalers

as a mage for mastery i cap at 161% even if i put in more gets the stats dont go up
