The 2024 Mazda CX-30 has begun a fantastic year by achieving the best ever sales total over 10,000 units in one month. In this car vid, we look at the first 3 trims of 2.5 S, Select Sport, and Preferred. We compare the similarities and differences so you can decide which trim is the right one for you.
The CX-30 2.5 S gets started with a lot of standard equipment including Mazda’s updated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine has 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque paired with a six-speed transmission. All CX-30 models are equipped with i-Activ AWD for the best traction in all environments.
Standard safety includes the i-Activsense suite with Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support, High Beam Control, and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The infotainment screen is 8.8-inch and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. USB-c is now standard, and a seven-inch LCD multi-information gauge display. The standard 2.5 S trim also includes LED automatic on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights, 16" gray alloy wheels, and cloth seats.
The CX-30 Select Sport includes aluminum roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish and black side mirrors which are heated. Also included are black leatherette seats, leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, and rear privacy glass.
The CX-30 Preferred offers upgrades including power seat with memory and heated front seats, 18" bright aluminum wheels, power moonroof, gloss black front grille, reverse tilt side mirrors, and 2 interior color options.

Our 2021 CX-30 just had it's 3rd birthday. In 2021, the 30 had little competition in the subcompact SUV market. It's a more competitive market today which makes choosing a more difficult decision. Ours has been flawless so we're happy owners. Just have to know what's important to you after the newness wears off.

@@W1LLi4m_ To answer that, I would have to do a lotta research, test drives & price comparisons. Glad I don't have to go through that again. I'll be keeping the 30 for many more years.

Got my 2024 carbon 2.5s and I feel like it's the best trim, no power lift gate (slow), no turbo (mpg, maintenance, heat), red leather, good amount of tech, unique color combo.
If I may make a suggestion for your videos. You move quickly from one model or trim level to the next… my suggestion would be as you are describing - touring each model put the year, make and model on the screen. In this video we looked at several cars that were the same exterior color… hard to see which one you are describing. This is something which, I believe, can be added using the KZread studio which is free with your channel. Just a thought…

I enjoy your videos, but is there any reason why you could not have washed the vehicles prior to showing them?
Can the roof rails be added to the base? As in dealer installed accessory?
Is the difference between the 6 speaker and 8 speaker Mazda Harmonica stereo the 6 speaker doesn't have anything in the back seat? The 8 speaker adds a speaker in the back doors?
Hey Jonathan. I wanted to ask - does Mazda have plans to enable ALH (matrix headlights) on previous year Mazdas via software update? My '21 CX-30 has signature front lighting and I can see the individual led beam pattern that ALH requires. But we only have hi and lo beams.
The huge black cladding of cx30 is its biggest downside in terms of design aesthetics. Not even an off-road machine. It would be a lot cooler when they turn it into bulging wheel arch with minimal cladding

Exactly! I’m going to either buy this or the Lexus UX. The cladding is an incredible turn off. It’s hard to see past it.
Just got my preferred in January wish it had the black rims 😭

Nice comparison Johnathan. Currently own CX5, too big for my current needs. Would buy a CX30 if I could get a heated steering wheel on a non turbo trim. Silly Mazda…..

Does the base model have rear cross traffic alert? How’s the snow driving?

Yes it does have rear cross traffic. Unfortunately, I haven’t experienced snow driving personally. However, the standard all wheel drive should make it fairly pleasant in snow.
I would like either a Spirit Racing CX-30 or a hybrid CX-30, ideally Made in Hiroshima
Unfortunately Rear seat is completely unusable for passengers!

No CX-30 is best for me. I’m a car guy. Not a truck, SUV or crossover vehicle guy. Got it? Good.
