Where Ultras Were First Forged: AC Milan's Curva Sud

COPA90 presenter Martino visits Milan to explore the magnificent culture of AC Milan's ultras. The Italian Ultras scene is known as the foundation of a global ultras subculture. In 1968, it all began in Milan's Curva Sud with the Fossa Dei Leoni. Today, the tradition of this space means that the Derby della Madonnina is almost more famous for what happens in the stands than on the pitch. This film is an exploration of how the tifos and choreographies of AC Milan's incredible fan culture are deeply rooted in the traditions and customs of the city.

Couple of English clubs have recently started creating ultras groups like Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Lincoln, Middlesbrough to create more atmosphere.

English football is far from dull it is beautiful in its own way. Premier league is a disgrace to the game. But championship and below are pure football, ie Steel city, Birmingham et caetera...Maybe the only country in Europe where fans equally support their club and national team.

@@rayanstar7 Well said. Its good that we are either gonna have Leeds or Sheffield United in the prem next year (They're the two clubs battling for second). Hope they dont become a commercial club though. Unlike Norwich or West Brom, boring, shit clubs that no one wants in the prem.
I think the day i travel to Milan, i would cry. Especially going there to watch Milan back in the cl, & maybe before they knock the San Siro down

Hopefully they will just modernize it. San Siro should be a football world heritage like Camp Nou, Bernabeu, etc. I hate modern stadiums. They are copycats and look very dull to me. It`s like the formula 1 circuits build by Hermann Tilke. They look great from the outside, but are soulless and the races are boring on them. So please take Barca`s and Real`s example and just modernize San Siro and leave it standing, because it has the spirit of football in it.

fossa dei leoni was the first group to be called ultras. its true though that torcida split was founded before fdl. also the mentality with flares, drums and 1312 comes from the 1968 movement.

@@cutestitch8675 Nemas pojma o istoriji navijanja u Italiji. 70ih 80ih pa do polovine 90ih bio je pakao na stadionima u seriji A i u nizim ligama, Milan Inter Lazio Roma Genoa Verona Livorno Fiorentina Perugia Ternana Pescara Salernitana Foggia Bari Palermo Catania bili su (i ostali) najveci primeri italijanskog ultras pokreta. Nazalost u 2000ih godinama zapocela je velika represija protiv navijaca i sav taj pokret polako se ugasio. Sto se tice bivse Juge taj isti "huliganski" pokret mnogo se pojacao posle rata; inace jedna grupa mladih Grobara je donela huliganski mentalitet i nacin navijanja krajem 70ih sve kroz 80ih, bilo je vec organizovanih grupa u beogradu, splitu, sarajevu ali nisu imale taj fanaticki mentalitet koji su englezi i italijani imali, to je kod nas stiglo kasnije. Trebalo bi da imas vise postovanja prema istoriji koju ne poznajes.
