Where to stay in Tokyo🇯🇵Things to know before travelling to Japan

Where to stay in Tokyo, Japan?
If this is your first time travelling to Tokyo, Japan, we would recommend to stay around Ginza. We have stayed at Shinjuku, Asakusa, Akihabara, Shibuya and Ginza before and from personal opinion, Ginza is the most convenient place to stay in Tokyo.
Ginza has so many nice hotels accomodation, amazing shopping places and great restaurants. Also, rule of thumb to choose accomodation in Tokyo Japan is to live near the train subway station because you will walk a lot! Hope this things to know travel tips is helpful.

Wrong info. You should stay at Ikebukuro area. Especially hotels like Sunshine City or Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel, just a two to three minutes walk ftom the station to catch the Yamanote line 山手線 which is the same line and only a few stations away from major stations like Shinjuku, Ginza, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ueno and Tokyo stations. And Ikebukuro generally is cheaper than Shibuya or Shinjuku areas. And there are direct buses from Narita and Haneda airport that literally stopped in front of Sunshine City Hotel and Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel, e.g. Bus stop 17 at terminal 2 at Narita Airport.

I live in Tokyo. I highly recommend you to stay in Shinjuku area near the train and metro 🚇 stations. Nishi Shinjuku is a freat area. The restaurants and bars, izakaya are open till dawn and you can get drunk and take a taxi or walk back to the hotel.

I was in Japan twice before, back in 97 and 99, both times we stayed in Ikebukuro due to a place being recommended there and I didn't mind it not being a hotel but rather a ryokan-style place. We had only a few minutes of walking to get to the station and Yamanote line so it was convenient. This was many years ago but I'm considering staying there again when I go there again soon, probably same place in Ikebukuro because I liked it. though that place is not for those that wish to have a big room with ordinary beds - we slept on ftons on the tatami-covered floor :) I slept well!

We stayed at Kanda, 1 station away from Tokyo Station, the imperial Palace, and Akihabara, very close to Asakusa as well, even though Shibuya or Shinjuku would take upwards of 20 minutes to reach. Also a chill place and very economical. Some people might find Ginza quite unaffordable as it is known as the luxury district

It’s my fourth time in Tokyo, I’ve stayed at Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Sangenjaya before. Decided to stay in Ginza this time because I wanna go cocktail bar hopping at night, and I wanna be within walking distance to these bars! 😂 But Ginza is great for all those reasons you mentioned, it’s easy access to everywhere else in Tokyo, and it’s not as chaotic as Shibuya and Shinjuku. First timers who are from a busy city would probably be overwhelmed by Shibuya and Shinjuku stations!

I also suggest Ueno. Especially if youre on a budget. Its right next to Askakusa, which is my personal favorite area in Tokyo. Its very calm. It has Ueno park which is a beautiful area. And also in Ueno park there is the Tokyo National Museum compound, which is an awesome budget thing to do as well. The only thing is that it takes a while to get to popular places like Shinjuku and Shibuya. Also if your into anime and game stuff, its right next to Akihabara.
