Where to start your Borneo travel 2024 / Sandakan / Sepilok
Sandakan is a small city in Sabah on Borneo, and is a great place to start your adventure on this island! It is filled with local shops and restaurants, it has an airport and is also the gateway to a lot of the well- known tourist attractions that associate with Borneo.
The places we visited in this video:
1. Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, it’ s a 40 minutes drive from Sandakan
2. The Borneo Sun Bear Convention Centre is located next to the Orangutan Centre
3. The rainforest Discovery senter that takes you to the treetops of the rainforest
4. Balin Roofgarden Bistro & Bar for sunset and food
5. One hundred steps is part of the Heritage trail
6. The English Tea House and Restaurant for some scones and tea
Do you have more time? Check out these places!
1. Buli Sim Sim Water Village
2. Sandakan Central Market for local food and restaurants
3. Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary to see the monkeys, the ones with the big noses
5. All of Sandakan Heritage trail, takes about two hours and you see most of the city
You should not miss the river cruise on the Kinabatangan river
or Turtle Island, but we will show you all of that in the upcoming videos!

If you like tropical islands recommend you go to Semporna, about 300km from Sandakan. There's a lot of beautiful islands with crystals clear water near Semporna 🏝

Hello 👋 We were planning to do the same, but we didn’t find any scooter rentals in Sandakan 🙃 Also some locals we talked to said that a small part of that road is very dangerous for foreigners, but I’m not so sure about this 🤪😂
What camera are you using?

Good question!! Mainly it’s the GoPro 11 when we do the vlog, and DJI mini 3 pro for the drone shots ☺️ But sometimes we also use our iPhone 13 Pro Max if we need more zoom 🤗
About how much did you spend in the video?
