Futari Wa is a great way to start because you get to see how this 20 year old pillar of the magical girl genre began with two girls getting into a fist fight with Anime David Bowie in an abandoned park

My first season was Smile and I highly recommend to anyone else to try that one first. It's very comedic and light hearted while having very dramatic moments that are so well written. The fight scenes are also incredibly animated. The characters are all so memorable with fun personalities. My favorite one being Cure Beauty. It truly has something for everyone. My other favorites that I also recommend for first time fans are Go Princess, Heartcatch, Fresh, Yes 5, Splash Star, and Doki Doki.

My introduction to Pretty Cure was actually the English dub of Futari was Pretty Cure. Yes, there is an English dub of that season. It was airing on this channel in the UK called Popgirl in the early 2010s. While it did Americanise the civilian names, it kept the Cure names the same, never skipped any episodes & even kept the OST the same. To put it shortly, it was a better dub than what we got from Glitter Force (Smile & Doki Doki deserved better!)

I always recommend starting with whichever season you want. After all, the target audience kids in Japan regularly start watching without having seen previous seasons. It's tempting to say to start at the beginning or at least at the start of the current era, but I feel like more people will stick around if they start with the one that appeals to them the most.

My intorduction to precure was Smile! It was cute, had cool fights, pretty transformations and A LOT of emotions especially Yayoi's episode about her father. That almost made me cry, the drama was well done! The opening has so much energy and positivity, i love it; one of my favorite with Suite opening and Kira kira. After i tried Splash star, Fresh and Heartcatch precure; loved them all! I'm so glad i discover this franchise 😀

Happiness Charge also has a deep romance angle too. Not just Megumi (Lovely) and Seiji but God Blue and Queen Mirage.

my personal favorites for the plots are fresh precure, smile precure and dokidoki precure. I love all precure series, but I find these personally touching and emtional as well. I love when precure have like good villains and how they show that not everything is smiling and roses and stuff. When the villains are like truly evil, I think I can like to see how the precures will train and really motivate themselves to be stronger too

Smile Precure and Princess Precure bought a big smile for me, well written story plus the villains were great too!

I think Smile is a great place to start. Its got really nice songs, very smooth animation (ep 4 for example), awesome fight scenes (Joker vs Beauty in ep 43), surprisingly mature themes/content (eps 19, 22, 23 and many more), really good character designs (princess form and the ultra forms), incredible transformations (ultra cure happy’s transformation, beauty’s transformation, etc), really great villains, and amazing character development.

First season I finished was Mahoutsukai (Maho Girls) and I LOVED it, I enjoyed watching the episodes everyday. I love the magic school and all the uniforms (I think Riko/Liko’s friends were actually pretty enjoyable, but later after we get our 3rd cure honestly I just thought they were just there and didn’t matter anymore). I think we could’ve had more magic school episodes, but I love Haa-chan’s relationships with her mothers, it was so cute she was my favorite.

I grew up on the first season and actually went on a hint to try remember the series. I'm glad I finally found it and it's safe to say I'm going to have to catch up on everything

I always tell people who want to get into Pretty Cure to watch Smile. It was my first and there’s something so special about it. The transformations are iconic, the fights are immaculate, it’s comedic and lighthearted but still has good use of dramatic moments. Not to mention the characters are just so lovable and memorable as well

I actually got recommended precure from an online friend 9 years ago they told me to start with the very first season so I did and I watched every season in order up to the one that was currently airing (go princess was finishing when I started and by the time I got up to date mahoutsukai had just started airing) I highly recommend watching them in order because of the all stars movies and the original futari wa despite being basic is one of my favorite seasons

100% agree with Go! Princess. I always say it's a great link between classic and modern Precure, meaning it can help you ease into both the older seasons as well as the newer seasons. Also it's both girly AF while also being pretty action packed. And it's on Crunchyroll now!

I have a friend who has been vehement about wanting to watch as many Magical Girl series as humanly possible because he loves the outfit inspiration, and he decided that for his birthday month, we're watching Precure, so thank you for this video, hopefully this should help us figure out where to start!

Solid recommendations. Good to see you not immediately putting Heartcatch up because of how good it was. Honestly though, starting with GoPri might be even worse. Personally I think GoPri actually was better than Heartcatch; its storytelling depth is on par with Heartcatch, its characters are very fleshed out, and entertainment is through the roof because of the animation. Tropical Rouge is a surprisingly good choice for fun. It doesn’t give many expectations on how good the storywriting may be for the franchise, and it is simply fun to watch. I think if a fan wants to just get a taste of Precure, the best place to start is probably either Fresh or Suite. Average stories, average amounts of fun, decent emphasis on bonding which is a mainstay of the show.

Honestly good video suggestions! Although kinda shocked smile was not mentioned. It’s a perfect get you into pretty cure season. It’s also not the best season so people have room To grow from there in terms of what kinda season they would like in the future. Also I’d say if you want a character focus’s season then Yes 5 is the best choice given it’s main 5 are some of the best and fairy voices depending, the main two fairies of this season are some of the best in the whole show. With actual character arcs to boot. I would also recommend that if someone is into the idea of the series recommend by their own taste. Like do they like cooking or sweets baking then Kirakira and Delicious Party are perfect. Or if they are a big fan of witches and magic stuff then Mahou Tsukai. But other wise we are on the same mindset with the recommendations especially tropical rouge. Also side not it’s nice to see someone who likes the season as well even if for me it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Delicious party has a great plot too, with a nice mystery elements.

I'm one of the OGs that started out with Heartcatch and it is still one of the best written seasons yet! Also Dream is my favorite Pink.

actually 1st , 2nd and 3rd season are my fav season. even though i watched all season, season 1st, 2nd and 3rd are my fav and love them so much. plus their fighting skills are better than the other precure. they are like "the original" ones and to many fans love season one and 2 more. are some who don't like it that much ...

Suite was my first season that I watched all the way through. *technically* I watched Smile and DokiDoki first but they don’t really count because it was Glitter Force. GF got me into PreCure of course, and I love it as is, but Suite was my “first” first and is my favourite. It’s really funny, and the music makes the emotional moments hit HARD.

If you want Badass Fights, watch the Older seasons like Heartcatch, Go! Princess, or even Smile. The fight scenes from their is pretty well done.

Great video and suggestions, though I feel two seasons people should check out first would be Smile Precure or Fresh Precure. Fresh is the season got the balance down right. Start off with a small group and then add one more member for later. Besides that, the characters and villains are great, and the action is well done. Not to mention the world of this season is good, while the other seasons feel limited at times. Smile has great characters, awesome fights, and a pretty good story. I always tell people to start with this one.

0:57 Honestly, i think on Hugto's Case it would be a point *in favor* to start with it. On the Super Sentai fandom, the most recomended "Season to start" is Gokaiger, a season whose plot has a lot of conections and canon character appearences from over 30 sentai seasons, and fans argue that "it could make newbies know a little about the franchise in one go and get interesed on any of the seasons that appears there". So i think the Gokaiger case could also be kinda argued for Hugto?

Smile and DokiDoli were my first if you are into The quartet/quintet teams But any of the available ones are good if want a start. But Precure in the West is still budding with only a few seasons available

and if you want seasons with a lot of sapphic undertones(at least as i see them), Doki Doki, Fresh, Heartcatch, Mahoutsukai, Star Twinkle, and tropical rouge have the most in my opinion. yes, i did not include kirakira but thats because akira and yukari are a confirmed couple rather than undertones. doki doki is basically a lesbian harem; fresh is a little bit mixed because while there is a very heavy and deep bond between the lead and another of the characters, said other character eventually moves into the lead's household because plot reasons and is basically adopted into the family, leaving the situation with a bit of a step-sister shaped minefield; heartcatch has the lead develop a crush on a girl disguising herself as a boy for reasons and despite what the lead may say, her crush is still *very much* there throughout the series; the mahoutsukai pair raise a baby together and in a more coupley way than any other group of precures that have to take care of a baby or something close, they very much are the girl's moms and they even share a kiss in one of the chapters of the short companion manga; meanwhile star twinkle and tropical rouge both have major amounts of "oh my god they were roommates/just gals being pals" gay energy

I started with the futari wa precure

I started with wonderful when it began airing, now I started watching Tropical Rouge and after that I want to watch star twinkle, other seasons that im interesed in are mahotsukai, hirogaru, smile and futari wa

I started with the 1st season precure, cure black and white, followed by season 2, 3, 4 (go go 5), 5, 6.... etc. It's good starting from the start, from season 1, even though u may like the other season. I saw the comment and mostly some liked season 9 (smile) and and doki doki (10 or 11 i think, correct me if i'm wrong) and start from them but I think when u start whatching a show/series u should start from the begginning. Like episodes, we watch it from ep 1 'till end, I think it should be the same with seasons. Starting from season 1, futari wa precure, followed by max heart, etc. I think the chronology of a serie should be respected. Plus it can be enjoyed more by watching it from the beginning. ​This is my opinion. ( I'm not hating anyone. Pls don't misjudge me)

I would also recommend smile and dokidoki, Smile it's colorful fun and completely impossible to dislike, while dokidoki has story characters designs and plots that are one of the best in the franchise

(my english not is very good) I am usually of watch zany things of all style, for me was a challenge endure the cutesy in excess of glliter force (my first season), i came of sailor moon and watch this in the Neflix menu. Honestly went really funny if you have the adequade angle, on many occasions you can out of context that not happened with SM. How the draw and animation are moved in almost all the seasons the memes as legendary.

Question; Has any Cure team transforms with a ring? I know Star and her friends have necklaces, Smile and Kira kira have compacts as well as Tropical rouge, the Suite girls have flutes, the Fresh have phones and Yes 5 too, Mahou tsukai have Mofurun and Felice have a miror, the Heart catch girls have perfumes and Go Princess too. Not sure one of them have a ring. Could be fun to see a new team use it. I imagine Cures based on Fantasy creatures like the Kira kira girls but with dragons, unicorns, elves etc. The leader could be a purple dragon with black boots and gloves named Cure Claw, the second is a green Elf name Cure Leaf and the third is a silver unicorn name Cure Wish. Two cures based on colors and darkness would be cool too. The leader is white with bright colors names Shiny and the other is black with purple and dark blue named Shadow. It's rare we have a duo nowadays, it's always four or fives cures.

I'm currently keeping up with Hirogaru Sky! Precure and it's my first season overall. I've seen clips of some episodes but I never watched an entire episode of Precure before. I might check the other Precure seasons once it's wrapped up.

Hirogaru Sky is so enjoyable, I’ve been in this fandom for 3 years now and it’s so different from the rest. I’ve finished 3 seasons and watched at least one episode of every season except the sequels and it almost became my favorite, but Mahou will always be special to me. It’s our first blue leader, and she’s the first that’s also from another world! I love how all the cures have duo attacks which only really happens when we start a season with a duo, and the episodes are fun to watch, I hope I’ll finally find a season I can stay caught up to, Delicious Party I stopped in October, and Tropical Rouge in like June.

Best choice would be Fresh since it's a basics Precure series with various elements that will be used again in other seasons, it isn't super SoL and some fights are pretty good. Worst choice? Futari wa. Yeah, it's the first but it's also a slugfest, it isn't really indicative of the other seasons and it's pretty much nothing story-wise, the villains are painfully bland. The reedeming quality are Honoka and Nagisa, but I don't recommend to start with it

I recommend starting from the very first series of the franchise! Cuz that way you will understand the movies such as "all stars" and episodes with special appearances, Idk about the others but there's special appearance in a few Hugtto episodes. Also, Nagisa and Honoka (Cure Black and White) without any doubt are the most powerful and capable cures, cuz they don't need fancy spells or magical wands, one punch and kick is enough to send anyone flying. I got into PreCure in December and I finished Futari wa Pretty Cure and Max Heart with both movies and they are great, you will love them! I'm currently watching Splash star ^^

THE ONLY ENGLISH dubs were of Futari wa FAILED as one in Canada and Smile and Doki Doki BOTH FAILED AS NETFLIX dubs and as of 2018 their as NEVER BEEN ANY MORE ENGLISH DUBS and LIKELY NEVER WILL. Even Toei of JAPAN won't MAKE region Free English SUBBED versions of ANY PRECURE season for direct to DVD/Blue Ray disc and Toei's American Anime studio NEVER did that for a English DUB EITHER.
