This is. The video I was looking for! I have a mst tcr that I converted,I know that it's not a real drift car but she swangin, I have my gyro in between the batter and the servo def learned a lot here

Great! Its not something I think is universal for every car but I do believe there is some truth to the car being more tame or less sensitive the further away you get from the front wheels. Let me know if you notice a difference when you move the gyro forward or rearward

Man this video helped me out a lot I drag race my 10 scales 8th scale and 7 scale I've been having gyros but never really know how to use them I tried this on my 10 scale EPX car and it works really good thanks for the help

This is perfect. I was really stuck between putting it on the flat bottom part of the chasis Vs the upper deck. Guess I’ll go with the middle bottom deck for even smoothness. Thanks for the detailed vids as always!

Great Video very well done, you could totally tell from watching that the position made a difference on the cars behavior,this actually makes sense if you look at the front of the car as you're privet point, so the Gyro will receive more input the further back I would say could be wrong too. Thanks for putting this together

Its quite the experiment. I’m glad you saw the difference because I wasnt driving the best I could have. I really wanna make a part two but maybe that’s overkill.

@@idealautofactory I agree a second video would be overkill, I would think the most people who are into RC Drifting should be able to see the difference and be able to try the same thing

OK - you are going to make me do this as well. Based on what I tried before, it never made a difference. I also saw another video where a person hooked up multiple gyros and servos to test the gyro placement - no discernable difference. Now I will need to do this!

Yes. Do it. This is a heavy chassis so that could play a part in the results. When I first got it, I did have to move the gyro further back from the servo because It wasnt drivable at all. I was still/am a rookie drifter. 😉

I know exactly which video you are talking about since in commented on it also. As someone who never tested it, I wonder if the change could come from vibration noise more than anything. Anyway, can't wait to see a video from you on this matter👍

Definitely got some info out of this

Someone at my local track suggested taking a straight edge in an X pattern across the 4 wheel hubs and placing it dead centre. I'm yet to try it, my gyro is already placed 2-3cm further back than dead centre on the lower deck as is, so not got around to it yet as I don't think it'll make a massiveee change, just a good to know thing. I just think it's respectful to take heed of what your local track people suggest :D

I was drifting for about a year compensating for the gyro correcting more to one side than the other. I decided to reset all the electronics and remove the connection that allowed me to adjust gain from my remote and now all of a sudden the gyro corrects equally to both sides. Couldn’t find any video depicting why this would happen.

Will installing in location with least vibration and angular movement (least movement) be best? Ideally between or closest possible to the front steering.

Bro long shot asking you here my trouble, but I have purchased a power hd g1 gyro and I have try different servos with it. And even thought the gyro power up it doesn’t power the servos. They don’t move at all. What do you recommend?

i had my g4 at the front top area on my sakura and it was different when i moved it to the bottom middle part

I have a MSTSXX2.0 S first car first set of high-end hobby wing electronics, drifting ESC motor yokomo V4, Gyro and serval silver dot the tires. Any suggestions on where to try to put my Gyro? I tend to lose the back in the lot right now it’s on the bottom plate 2/3 forward behind the motor.

I’m not really a suggester. You have to move it and see what difference it makes. It may be something that worsens the experience so I cannot suggest a perfect spot

my gyro on my shartasy is currently hiding in the very back on the diffuser but it isnt feeling the way i want it to so im going to move it. ive never had the v4 anywhere aside from the middle of the chassis for most of my rigs so i assume that is my issue. this video helps

See? I’m so glad this sparked the thought of moving it somewhere. It may not be some huge game changer for the characteristics of how the car drives but at least it gets you thinking about the gyro. Let me know your findings!

I believe this will work with any gyro cheap or expensive

I'm considering playing with a gyro for dirt drifting with my hpi wr8. Apparently not many people put gyros in those

Do it. Start a new thing or just enjoy the journey with a possible outcome that is unexpected. I don’t know much about dirt racing but I’m sure a gyro has its drawbacks and advantages

I took a Yokomo RD-01 and am beating the crap out of it and cheap amazon rubber tires in a parking lot with a 10.5t drift setup. It goes through tires faster than my buddy's 1/7th Infraction but it is more fun to me than the plastic tire stuff. I used the RD-01 because I was running my YZ-2 buggy on pavment and all I really wanted to do was drift it (2WD) but I loved the Yokomo kit and the abuse and disrespect they have endured for me. So I would say +1 - try it. I have my rubber tire budget down to $2.50 a tire. I get 3-4 packs per set but it rips. lol.

Not an opinion, just asking the question- could it be that moving the weight of the gyro forward affected front grip?

Nahh. Gyro weighs nothing to add weight performance gains.
