I just want to acknowledge all the work you put into this! This had to be no easy feat to research and film and you did such an excellent job of choosing the history tidbits and previous shows to share about each theatre. As someone who worked in NYC theatre I commend you. This is a lovely little love letter to the wonderful theatres we have.

Thank you for this. Your videos are so informative. As a New Yorker your enthusiasm for theater has awoken a desire to start seeing theater once more (Some of us New Yorkers take Broadway for granted due to our proximity to it) Bit of Trivia: the original High School of the Performing Arts (the "Fame" school) was also located on West 46th street, just off of Times Square. It has moved to Lincoln Center and has been renamed The LaGuardia School of the Performing Arts (after NY mayor Fiorello LaGuardia).

In the museum of Broadway, there's a great shirt that has the streets with every theater location in NYC. It's awesome.

wow ! That was a tremendous amount of work to cover all the Bway theaters !!! did you hit all 41 of them ? I did not count .... Your Bway knowledge is unsurpassed ... especially for such a young guy . Bravo MickyJo

You carved an AMAZING amount of content out of your NYC trip. I would love to see you do the same in LONDON if you have not done so already - so many historical theatres in the West End with amazing history.

I have watched this 3 times now and I just realized you color-coded the theaters based on who owns and operates them. So smart!

wow doing some serious work. what's your feeling on how the Broadway Theatres are more or less very close together...and the West End is more spread out. There is something very nice about coming out of a show at 10:40pm on a Wed night and seeing literally a million people carrying all different playbooks and smiling around you.

That pandemic-scuttled production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf was a barn-burner. I'm shocked it hasn't been brought back in the current theatrical environment, where producers are most reliant on familiar titles and star turns. Laurie Metcalf and Rupert Everett gave two of the greatest performances I have EVER seen. I love that most of these theaters are on the west side of Broadway. As I live in Hell's Kitchen, it means I rarely have to cross Times Square, something no one living here wants to do, ever. 😂 Really enjoyed your journey to all the venues. Tiny correction: the Shubert hosted the *original* Broadway production of Crazy For You; we haven't had a revival - yet. I'm counting on that Charlie Stemp-led production to land here. I only caught this because this was one of the first things I ever saw on Broadway, and I went back three more times. I have been dyyying for a revival so I can drag everyone I know. Ended up going all the way to Chichester for a day to see it again (twice, but what else is there to do in Chichester 😆.) Fingers crossed for a transfer from the West End.

This was so interesting. I walk through Times Square everyday to and from work and I never noticed how many theaters there are.

I love this! Thanks for showing us all of these theaters! PS a gimbal would be great for your camera, so it is less shaky. And a Rode wireless mic would help too: you can wear it on your lapel when you are doing these out-and-about videos.

I think that a tripod or gorillapod could also helpful if a gimbal isn’t possible.

ADORE this video!! Wanted to let you know there is a small typo/error - at 15:29, it says Minskoff Theatre when is should be the Circle In The Square. The address is correct! It would be funny if Circle in The Square was the smallest theater then you could have said the smallest Broadway theatre is next to the biggest. Unfortunately Circle in the Square has roughly 243 seats (according to Statista) more than the Helen Hayes and the sixth smallest broadway theatre. And other theatres such as the booth theatre and American Airlines theatre have snaller seat counts compared to Circle in The Square.

Great video, from the USA! An old man going to the city to see 5 shows. I know you hold the record. I saw my first show after my dad died. I never forgot that experience and it was Oliver and have been coming every since. I loved your videos In NYC and have learned so much. I hope you come back someday. Thanks for not trashing us. This brings back memories. The first Broadway show I ever saw was Jekyll & Hyde at the Schoenfeld (back then, it was the Plymouth). I loved the Circle in the Square theatre, I saw a revival of Rocky Horror there. My first ever West End experience was Starlight Express.

Bravo, this was WONDERFUL. I live here in NY and think I’ve been to all of these (??) and this was a lovely memory trip for me. For interiors I’ll say the Amsterdam and the Belasco have some jaw dropping, gorgeous interiors. I contemplate seeing a questionable show just to get in there for a few hours!

Looking forward for your London theatre tour! You’d probably have to have two parts of it: the core West End/commercial theatres (owned by ATG, DMT, Nimax, etc.) and the subsidised ones (the National, Almeida, Donmar, etc.)

Opend with I am so old so I have forgotten Title but the show had a limited run before Lion King. Very difficult to findiing cast CD. Something about Eygpt I think. I was there for early perfomaces of Lion King. Sobbing every time I went.. If my memory comes back I will let you know the name of the show. Can we get a West End theatre walking tour?

This may or may not have been covered in the comments already, but please note that you mistakenly referred to "The Rocky Horror Show" (stage musical) as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (the film adaptation of the stage musical).

If you did a Sydney video you'd only have to go to like 5 venues 😂 The main stream musicals/tours only go into like 2 of the venues too😂 not many options but Michael Cassel producer wants to try get another venue to open up for more options so Sydney can get more shows as Melbourne so a lot of venues.

Seeing MickeyJo in the wild reminds me that he's taller than I imagine.

You missed an important fact about the New Amsterdam Theatre: Having opened in 1913, it's the oldest Broadway theatre, the original home of THE ZIEGFELD FOLLIES, where the REAL Fanny Brice got her start. When Disney brought it back from ruin in the 90s (with a 99-year lease), it was the beginning of the Disney cleanup of the Times Square/Broadway neighbourhood. Thank god (or whomever!) they saved this landmark!

Crazy that like most theatres aren’t ACTUALLY on Broadway street proper.

i do not understand what makes a 'professional'. Anyone can cite themselves as a 'professional' Some criteria should be set and should be matched before banding words about like 'professional' in my honest and professional critical opinion. I had witnessed shows since the 80's i know so much and yet not for a second would I deem myself a 'professional'. a youtuber critic is more appropriate.

Good grief. A little aggressive. To put it simply, reviewing theater is his 'profession' since leaving his job as a teacher to pursue KZread full-time. Thus making him a 'professional' theater critic. And lastly, a word of advice, every thought doesn't need to be shared.
