Where The Champawat Men Eater Was killed By Jim Corbett
I explored the site where the most dreaded men eater in the history of world was killed. Probably I may be the First one to show you the spot. This tigress killed 436 people the last one was the girl just before it was killed. This site is 7km towards East from Champawat which is in Uttrakhand(India).
While killing, Jim Corbett was helped by a Tehsildar along with 298 beaters, Dugar Singh was one among them who accompanied Jim later on was rewarded with a dagger and sword that is what the man who helped me claims. I had an honor to hold these two weapons. I am thankful to Gopal Singh ji My brother Jiwanand and My son Shailesh.

I was given Jim’s 1st book Maneaters Of Kumaon by my dad here in Scotland when I was about 10 and am now 66. I since then have read all his books lots of times, I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d ever see any of the places where the great man went about ridding the people of the hills of these beasts. Thank you so very very much, I have subscribed to your channel and will now scour KZread for more. Incidentally this is a video of Jim’s famous Rigby .275 rifle on KZread too as Rigby in London now have it on show and visiting their shop is very high on my list of things to do ASAP. Imagine getting to see that. Jee Shukriya again.

One of Jim Corbet's hunting story " The end of the Mohan Men Eater", was once was a chapter of my 10th standard. From that story i became curious to read all about his stories andnow I've all of his books in my collection. Yesterday also read once again his book. Truely a great story.

We are thankful to you for showing the actual site which no one could show
Jim Corbett was not only a man of great adventure but was also a gifted writer. His each accounts of hunting expedition evoked curiosity and a sense of great fear for the man eater among its readers. The' Man eaters of Kumaon, each of his hunting trail, especially the Champawat tigress episode was so well written in such simple & beautiful language that the reader would be completely drawn into it feeling and sensing the beast lurking around and coming to life right from the pages of the book. The call of a distant bird, , the traces & pugmarks left, the grass left with blood, the ravine, the valley, the slippery stones, the boulders, tahsildhar & the frightened hapless villagers..... all written with a colonial hangover with such precision and beauty that the reader would be left spellbound. I never ever in my life imagined that being a malayali from Kerala the southmost of India, , would be furtunate ever to see the spot right where the Champawat tigress was shot to meet its fate. Thank you sir.. Thank you🙏🏼

What Jim achieved was some feat. He was in his 30s when he shot this man eater, and continued hunting man eaters up until his 60s, hiking long distances on tough terrain, being ready to shoot with lethal accuracy in a split second, spending countless nights awake in trees and going long periods without eating etc.

Awesome video and explanation of how & exactly where this great historic event took place ,, I am 68 years old , I received Jim Corbetts Book " Maneaters of Kumaon " was I was 10 years old as a gift .. I don't even know how many times I have read it , maybe 100 times in the last 58 years .. I never ever thought I would see the actual places this Great Man , Jim Corbett hunted , stalked and killed these tigers , I always tried to imagine what it might look like , now I know thanks to you .. I truly hope this great Man who I have held so dear in my heart will never be forgotten ,,, and it was so wonderful to see a blood relative of the man that was with Mr Corbett at the time of the kill ,, also seeing the weapons held in your hands that were in Corbetts hands must of been a thrill for you .. You must be the first person to do this journey , because I have studied Corbett my entire life and haven't seen anything like this video.. All of us Corbett fans owe you a great deal of gratitude .. I salute you UK ROVER ,, I am subscribed and look forward to upcoming videos ..

@@ukrover5087 - Thanks for the reply .. I wish I was there travelling through the bush with you and Shailesh . Never realized just how rugged and extreme his hunting grounds were. .Just imagine being out there mostly alone for weeks at a times , always anticapating an attack from a 6 or 700 lb beast during the night or day ,, sleeping in trees and following the pug marks for weeks .. Sometimes the Tiger would elude him and he go back to Nainital , just to return in the spring , some hunts took years to find and kill the Tiger .. I have no greater respect for any man than Jim Corbett , my lifetime Hero ... Now that I have seen the hills , gorges , and steep ravines , I can feel more the utter loneliness he must of felt on his hunts , knowing until the Tiger was put down , more would die .. You have much courage to put yourself out there .. I encourage and respect your work .. And Mr Corbett would be very happy to see that all he had done is not forgotten .. I will pray for you and your sons safety and protection from God .. I have a large map of the area you travel in and with it I follow your journey .. With respect ,, Jeff

Very glad to see the place where Champawat tiger was eliminated back in 1909 probably. Hats off! to Corbett's soul who did his best to rid this part of India from those man eaters. A courageous great man with uncanny expertise and knowledge of jungles. Unbelievable heroics of a small man at the dead of night wandering in Indian jungles. Having read the story hundreds of times, I am so happy to see the actual spot. It is unbelievable that with not such much of roads he walked at such an altitude and such rough terrain, for so many miles each day when he was hunting the maneaters, literally mindboggling. Then seeing the terraini can sort of believe the story that in in the foreward of the book that an old man above 80 years of age walked 100 kms in 2 days to see "carpet sahib" when there was a film shoot going on about the great Jim Corbett. Amazing stuff and great videos. Please try to show all the places where the maneaters operated and where they were shot

The rusty saber and knife... Colonel Corbett skinned his kills w/ a pocket one, after 16 hours...
All I can say is wow
Could you please give a translation into the English language 🙏.
Legend says that champawat tiger roared in Indian accent
You must retitled this video as "where champawat man eater was shot" to make it easier for search. Delete word"spot"from the start of the title. Replace it by where.

I think the champawat tiger hunted humans for atleast 5 years, some say for 10 years. If so then maybe around 2000 humans became food for it. If 10 years then 5 thousand.
