"Where's Me Lobby ?"
Andrew and Val continue their narrowboat travels cruising nbReverie along the delightful Market Harborough Arm of the G.U. Leicester Line of The Grand Union Canal. Leaving Union Wharf in Market Harborough we gently cruise through the gentle countryside, taking in some canal history, and talking boat people of old. We then delve into the remarkable story of Foxton Inclined Plane. Episode 68.

No worries Trev. It took a while to get it out there but I got there in the end.
Ugh! Nearly 1 AM Played for a Contra Dance Just home starting the fire before going to bed. Good time to sit peaceful and watch your video.Feeling nice and relaxed. I always look forward to watching you two travel the canals. Travel safe.
Another great vlog that makes you realize you can’t rush in a narrowboat. I suspect many people would fret at lining to operate a lift or swing bridge (slowly!) and go crazy as the boat rises or drops so slowly and all the work involved. You two have nicely adapted to a lifestyle that suits you. No rush. No traffic lights. No mad speed demons burning rubber to get away, and any traffic jams on the canals are a chance to chat to neighbours. Stay well. John, Ontario, Canada

All very true John, there's too much rushing these days and people would get an awful lot more out of life if they slowed right down to appreciate what's around them. Also I never thought that about it like that, chatting to neighbours at canal 'traffic jams'. Nice way of putting it.
I hope you realise how lucky you are to travel alongside Val every day. This is the real story, and how lucky you are. You hit the jackpoint, my friend!

Thanks Glyn. It seems lobby is an old seafaring term, so probably came to Stoke on the Trent and Mersey. I didn't know it was a term still in use.
Enjoyed your vlog so much .🌹⭐️⭐️

Thank you Lynda 😊🙏
I really enjoy your episodes when you put one out. Glad I stay subscribed. I had to laugh, as an American, because if I hadn’t just been researching why people from Liverpool are called scousers, and the history of lobscouse I wouldn’t have known what you meant by lobby. 😄

Hi Willa, nice to hear from you again. I must admit I have no idea why Liverpudlians are called scoucers. Does it come from lobscouse which is an old seafaring term for stew?

@@talesfromtheswansneck yes, and I also understand that people from Manchester are called lobby gobblers, also from lobscouse. Here we eat something very like it that we just call beef stew. Beef chunks, onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, maybe garlic. Delicious.
Just watched your vlog " why the sarcacastic sniggers about Trevor" he is an absolutely great bloke and a credit to the narrowboat community, doesn't have a bad word to say about anyone ! Glass houses and all that , loving the Edgar Winter tribute act you have picked up ! Cant wait for the next lament , try some lighter strings on your guitar if you record something again . This will help your style immensely; kind regards to you both Steve ........ 😊

thanks Steve, I'll pass on your tip about the strings to Val. I'm sorry if we came over as being sarcastic to Trev, that was never our intention. Yes he is a thoroughly nice bloke. It may have come across like that because we'd done about 4 takes to get it right.

Thanks for the tip Steve. I will do.
Hi Andrew, l enjoyed watching this as l walk part of the Market Harborough arm that you show on my way to work. I now live outside Market Harborough not far from Foxton Locks. Quite a change from France! Glad to see you and Val looking well and happy. Hayley 🙂
Great to see you back Andrew. 😊
Excellent as ever 👍
I did a three day holiday on a narrowboat and loved it. However, on the few occasions we went through a city or big town the atmosphere did change due to anti-social behaviour. Nevertheless, everyone we met on the canal were lovely people 👍

usually the people on the canals aren't the problem, there can be a lot of crime on city towpaths though because it's easy to hide from cctv.
Just stumbled upon your video, and followed with three more. SUBSCIBED!! Did you go to film school? The way you weave your antidotes with editing........wow, just brilliant. And this one with some historical facinations, excellent. This canal life just fascinates me. We have nothing like it here in the U.S. you my friend will grow your following with excellent content like this. Cheers. Dave from Portland Oregon.

Many thanks Dave,I'm pleased you enjoy the content and the filming. Didn't exactly go to film school, but I have a degree in photography and worked in the business for 25 years. Yeah I'm really captured by the history, I think it's so important to know why this stuff is there, and also the way the engineers overcame all the problems that were thrown at them.
