I impulse bought ( Had the supplies, knowledge and funds, just wasn't planning on it!) my cat, Timmy. I'd just lost a cat, and I was really depressed and the shelter was having like one of those ' LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE' expos and Timmy was so depressed, he was just laying in the bottom of the cage, and when I opened it he didn't move. He let me hand feed him kibble, but he just laid there. I adopted him, and took him to my vet for a checkup and it turned out he has a very malformed skull, his sinuses, ears and teeth are all messed up. He needed to be put under, and have several teeth pulled because his gums were deformed and the roots of his teeth were exposed. He was in a lot of pain. BUT years later, he's no longer depressed, and he's my beautiful bum! ^_^ Impulse buys aren't always the best, but, mine turned out great.

Maybe... *Rehome:* reptile was in good/great condition, owners just couldn't/didn't want to take care of them anymore. *Rescue:* reptile in less good/poor condition, requires time to recover before being sold again. *Rehab:* reptile in very poor/critical condition, requires a lengthy and possibly expensive recovery time, may even be permanently affected by their initial condition, before they can be sold again.

One of my snakes has a deviated septum and "wheezes" It freaked me out at first because obviously that's a sign of RI but after getting professionally checked off he had no RI and a crooked septum.

Strangely enough, Betty is my favorite of your animals. I just love her. She's so sassy.

She looks like an Australian Eastern Blue Tounge skink, almost identical to my brother's pet one. They're native in my area, one had babies in my yard a few years back and they're the cutest little babies, so tiny and sweet.

Im from Australia, i have a wild bluey, he wondered into my house and now kind of lives in my garage

Dude I like 10 minutes from Sky to Sea Pets! Yes they are still in business, I get my mealworms from there, but they are currently renovating and restructuring, so they aren't going to be selling birds anymore, just reptiles and freshwater fish. Its really cool to see that you got your first reptile from them!

Rosie's story is so sad! My BP is about the same age as her and I got him 5 years ago because I couldn't stand the idea of him going to a reptile rescue. Opting for euthanasia is such an extreme, uncaring situation.

I used to keep American toads I played with them a lot as a kid. I’ve had a red eared slider and an alligator snapper when I was like 10. Eventually I gave my snapper (who I’d name Raphael) to my local zoo and he’s on display and I show him off to my kids and students when we go.

I got my crested gecko from CCSB. He wasn't a rescue, but they bred cresties. Their "zoo" is a 10 minute drive from my house in Kernersville. They are a really nice family, but some of the rescues did not have proper setups when I went there a few months ago.

Oh hey! Fellow North Carolinian! Sky, land and sea is no longer around. They were based out of Salisbury (where I live) they were extremely neglectful and wound up having to shut down because of it. My friends parents also sold reptiles! Usually at the flea market but they wound up buying a store front before they got busted for drugs lol Super glad this is for the North Carolina area because usually people are not around me lol

I agree I think of an impulse buy as something you can be prepared for butt you go in and buy the opposite of what you expected an example of this would be me having a bird cage at home prepared and I went to buy a cockatiel but ended up coming home with a quaker parrot and after that I researched about quaker parrots and he is happy and healthy today and lucky for me for the cockatiel I bought an overly sized cage because I wanted him to have more than enough space so that he can fly

CCSB isn’t bad, i’ve been going there since they opened and can honestly say they are amazing. They take wonderful care of all of their animals and are extremely helpful.

Blue tongues are super common in Australia, especially in summer. You see them in the suburbs everywhere, i've found them right outside my front door over 100 times.

I sorta impulse bought my kenyan sand boa. We got her at this great small fish+pet shop. My mom saw her and we went to lunch. We researched alot during the lunch then went and got her and got the stuff. We set the tank up fairly quick since there were multiple people working on it. It turned out great tho since she is the light of my life

Oh, also, My ball python is kept on aspen and I use a humidity box and once a week I mist her enclosure and she has perfect sheds. You just have to keep on top of it for sure.

I recently took in a corn snake who was neglected for years and he used to have a slight wheeze too, like the tiniest occasional sneeze. (I did check for a RI right away and luckily he didn't have one.) Now that I've have him in a proper and clean set up I have not heard it since? (He's currently 13 y/o) I had actually never heard of another person with a wheezy corn snake so it might just be from all the smoke/ammonia in his tank like you mentioned.

Ok could you do a video on reptile conspiracies? Like the whole thing with sketchy rescues and stuff, I'd love to hear more about them.

I went to my first repticon this year! My cousin has been breeding reptiles for a long time and wanted to sell one of her cobras there but it kinda sorta attacked her ._. So that was a no go. Don’t worry, she is ok! She got me my third ever crested gecko! A happy first repticon present. I also got a hoodie from the seller, Gecko Junkie! She also educated me and said that my First Geckos old exo terry was a tarantula exo Terra... oops. So my first ever gecko came in that exo terra and I had no idea that it was a tarantula exo terra. Big oops. Don’t worry, now the baby is in the tarantula one and my two adult Cresties are in actual Exo Terras with plenty space and hiding spots.
