His 1st WW moustache was one of several standard issue models from the Hammilburg stashfabrikkenwerks available to the lower ranks. The Treaty of Versailles then limited german mustache size during the early interwar period. The "toothbrush" style, as you call it, was actually two different models. The first was designed my Ferdinand Porsche and was designed to allow his head to traverse a full 360 degrees. The second was the wartime armored model provided by the Krupp steel works ( notice the gunmetal grey patina ). The armored stache was recovered by the Russians in Berlin and is now in the Stalin Museum of Mustaches in Moscow.

2:19 - A small clarification. There have been two waves of the deportation of Kurds from the Caucasus to Central Asia. The first occurred before the Second World War - in 1937 and concerned the Kurds who lived in Armenia and Azerbaijan in the former autonomous region of Red Kurdistan with the capital in the city of Lachin. In 1944, the Kurds were deported to the second wave from Georgia along with the Meskhetian Turks.

I see the whole South Tyrol situation as an interesting parallel with the sudetenland situation - both were majority German-speaking regions taken from German sovereignty by the entente in the wake of ww1, and both had some sentiment toward returning to German hands; However, this really shows German double standards, as they were perfectly content with their people having to choose between emigration and loss of rights in this case, but in the Sudetenland they couldn't tolerate a choice that was not only similar, but better, as the Sudeten Germans enjoyed equal rights under Czechoslovak democracy as an alternative to emigration.
@lordekker
3 жыл бұрын
Citizen rights and happiness are not the final goal of any government, including the present day ones (in modern democracies we have parliaments to make citizen interests). The thing is that Sudetenland was of prime strategic importance for Germany, while sud Tirol was for Italy but not for Germany. So their deal made perfect sense geopolitically speaking. Mussolini and Hitler murdered Tirol with equal responsibility.

You didn’t include the story of Hitler’s sister in law telling him he should trim the ends of his moustache, and then concluding that “as in most things, he went too far”.
At his Nuremberg trial Hitlers barber Sig Barleti, an Italian, admitted he did in fact cut Hitlers hair and trim said mustache but insisted he didn't at the time know it was Adolf Hitler. It was confirmed he had previously been Mussolini's barber and for reasons still unknown his services had been discontinued in 1923 after which he had traveled to Munich to find work.
