I just heard Buzz Osbourne repeat the golfer's quote "the more I practice, the luckier I get". Practice! Your fingers are part of your personality. They repeat stories like you, they laugh like you and cry like you. One of the ones that couldn't distort even if you tried. Now imagine Robert Johnson playing "Me And The Devil Blues" on Dave Mustaine's entire rig. Gear absolutely matters. Tone is completely in the hands. However, the right amp responds and enhances!

I believe tone is more in your picking hand / pot settings and pickup height on your guitar. The pressure , the attack hit on the strings and how the strings vibrate. I'm my personal opinion

Where do I find gear for fingers? Apparently I dont have the right finger setup for the fender guitar orange amp tone with my jackson kelly and a marshall.

Tone is in the amp, pickups and pedals. The eletronics do all the work.

Tone comes from the pressure you exert on the strings between the frets. And the efficiency with which control note duration.

SMG actually proved that the biggest factor in difference in tone is the speaker that you have in your Cabs/Combo amps😅

I was playing Master Of Puppets Hetfield solo in my 300$ strat. Then a friend of mine come over to my place bringed his Gibson Les Paul. I played the Hetfield solo and it was nearly the same as the studio record. So the tone is not 100% in fingers. While you playing a 2000$ and with many effects and amps, you cant say that tone is on the fingers.
