    Profits. These trash companies all around the country are profiting millions of dollars just to dump it into a place that will be forgotten forever. It’s all about the mighty dollar not about the environment.

    We always need our 90 gallon container. We fill it to the top in one week even with another container for recycling. Most weeks I even have to crush what's inside down so the lid will close. Family of 5.

    We're a family of 6 and we have two 96 gallon cans and they're always overflowing every week and that doesn't even include the bags we put next to the cans because they're so full. I wish they'd just give us a 3rd garbage can

    Why don't you build a waste to energy plant?

  • @petercdowney
    @petercdowney4 жыл бұрын

    Decades later, once everything biodegradable in the landfill has decomposed, you can mine it. Any metals you find can be recycled, as can any glass that is identifiable as coming from a bottle or a jar. Some plastics may or may not be suitable for recycling. If you find any dirty hypodermic needles in the landfill (which may be a possibility depending on how old it is), be very careful. These will have to be collected very carefully and incinerated. *Never* touch any item of clinical waste with your bare hands. Obviously wear the appropriate PPE when mining a landfill, because older landfills from before the introduction of restrictions on what you can put into the landfill may contain asbestos. This will need to be disposed of in a designated hazardous waste landfill. As for the rest, which cannot be recycled, that can just be landfilled again. Make sure that you're constructing the landfill properly, with the necessary pipes for the leachate and landfill gas, and the crushed rock to stop the pipes getting clogged. Ensure that the landfill is not to close to the coast to minimise the risk of coastal erosion washing it into the sea. You may even be able to just use the same site. And because there'll be more space due to decomposition of the biodegradable waste and the removal of the metals (and possibly some glass as well), you could perhaps put some more waste in!

    Yeah, also ask yourself can you really afford to buy all those products that are or claim to be made from the natural resources? And can we ask why we have to pay more because the government is refusing to make things like this affordable for us? Also ask yourselves, why are products that are made from synthetic that we wear today are affordable?
