@jessee sky the Lord Jesus Christ is part of the God head which means he is a part of the one true God. As a matter of fact John says in the beginning was the Word the word was with God the word was God,, also the Bible says that everything was made by him for him and nothing was made without him making it. Several people that he healed and he revealed himself to them, fell down and worshiped him and he didn't rebuke any of them. Paul teaches that by claiming to be the actual son of God that he thought it not robbery to be equal with the Father. The Father is part of the God Head as well and like you stated Jesus even says to pray to the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ but Jesus is part of God as well. The Bible says Jesus wants us to fellowship with him,, how can we fully do that without praying to him. Do a search and ask where the Bible specifically tells us not to pray to Jesus. The apostles prayed to the Lord to decide which person to replace judas and usually people says Father in the Bible when they are praying to the Father. Growing up I was taught the same as you but after listening to Pastor Charles Lawson and reading for myself and drawing closer to him, he is way more than I was told. Yes the Father is powerful but Jesus is the God head to, God the Father God the Son God the Holy Ghost and these three are one. No one fully understands the God Head but Jesus is part of it. I tell you with love,, please search the scriptures for yourself with an open mind not doctrine. I believe like you on its wrong to pray to the saints or Mary or statues of Jesus or anything but God almighty. The God Head is explained as with us is body soul and spirit but these three are one. God bless and this is totally out of love I say these things. The most important things that we can not disagree on is Jesus, virgin birth, Jesus died for our sins, and the resurrection of our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ. He is my everything.

@jessee sky well I hope you find your way home. You take Jesus out and you can't get to the Father. The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the only way to the Father! You take him out and you have no hope. Michael is created just as you and I he is not the Christ. Good luck and please get out of the kingdom hall doctrine and read the KJV 1611 or just find a Bible and read ALL the chapters not just parts of scriptures. I really do wish you the best because this is a very important thing we talk about. Your soul for eternity. Michael was not the one that arose from the tomb it was THE LORD JESUS CHRIST the Son of the everlasting loving Father.

How about lots of fathers and mothers as grand or greats ? Spirits ? This stuff is depressing to me. I don't have a father to inherit anything ? Ok. This is just mind boggling anymore. And, i get very depressed.

I feel the same. Although I want to serve him, I do have goals, or things in life I'd like to practise, something I am often told by christians of other churches, like mormon, is that we should want to put His goals for us first(prayer, studying scripture and attending services for sacriment to renew ourselves in Christ, also to be baptised, then when going back for sacriment renews our promise to him. To live toward serving Him and put that before anything else each day.

Knowing the facts is great, where we go, what we do, how we exist. Knowing all this before it happens Is nice to consider but in all that I chose to just trust God will take care of me body or not. He is in control, a control that will never be taken from him nor become weak. So I rest in mind heart and soul trusting in the lord!

Why would we go to heaven or hell the moment we die before judgement takes place? Why would be rewarded or punished before we are judged or sentenced? That has always rolled around in my head. Good on this young girl having such a great question!

Two guitar pixie the reason we would go to heaven or hell / the pit after we die before judgment is because God already knows the end from the beginning he knows who are his and he knows who belongs to Satan he watched your life as you lived it now that your life has been completed at death he's already pronounced judgment you just don't know the outcome yet those who go to heaven will be judged for the righteous acts not for their sins because they are forgiven at the cross those who do not accept the sacrifice of Jesus at The Cross and die in their sins they will be judged at the great white throne judgment when they die and before this great white throne judgment they are sent to Hades to wait like a person who has committed a crime but has no family or friends to bail them out of jail must sit in jail until they're called out to go to court for their trial in the same essence when they are people called out of Hades for the great right thrown judgment they're basically leaving the county jail where there been held without bail and now they'll be going to the great white throne judgment and found guilty and cast into the lake of fire which is prison in a sense but eternal and very horrible and wretched and burning forever and ever

@@rosewhite--- Yes at death all thoughts perish and when you sleep all thoughts are not recorded unless you are dreaming, so you have no time reference to when you drop off and when you wake up!. When you die the scriptures indicate that you are absent from the body ( death of flesh including thoughts) and present with the Lord , no time reference given. Perhaps watch the video again as you missed something about up and down as destinations of the dead.

Interesting question. In 2010 during my 17th brain surgery for hydrocephalus, my brain was torn as they removed my broken shunt. While under anesthesia in recovery, angel appeared to me. It was a very peaceful experience and i knew it was the Lord God's presence with me. He said to me with empathy "I know you've been through a lot throughout life, are you ready to go? It was such a beautiful experience and t knew i would be in heaven since i asked the Lord into my heart at age 19, so i said "yes"; Then I thought about my wife and kids and and told him that i couldn't bcz they needed me. He told me that life would be tough for a while and asked "are you sure?" i confirmed. After that, i woke up in recovery to find out from my nurse that my heart rate had dropped down to 33bpm and she said if it got any lower, they were going to place the jumper cables on me. He showed me that he really respects our decisions and cares for us. Sorry for the length of this post

Thankfully, through "praying for wisdom" and "seeking truth in all things" I began to see how certain teachings within the Catholic church were a bit out of step with the Bible... "purgatory" and the modernized use of "holy-water" just to name a few. On a side note, regarding the use/uses of water in the Bible... it appears the rinsing or washing of one's hands and feet (with pure/clean water) became an ever-increasing hygiene practice/ritual, especially right before entering sacred places or events. However, the Bible never implies water itself has any kind of supernatural or magical power... aside from Jesus' (or God's) direct spiritual influence or control... "water is water"... nothing more and nothing less. That said, if anyone has anything to add, I would be very interested to hear what others have found in their research on the topic... peace!

@James Brice It means that a lifetime of service in the Vinyard has to mean something. Salvation is open till the last second but the parable of the talents shows the reward for enduring with patience for a lifetime

Ecclesiastes 12:7 refers to the "spirit" returning to God, who gave it... this isn't the "soul". This is the word "Ruach" which literally means breath. God gave us our breath, and He takes it back. This is our "spark" of life, and without it there is no life. This isn't our "soul". Our spirit is not our own, it is HIS, since we are made in His image, with His breath. It was never ours.

Elizabeth M So true, we became a living soul when YHWH breathed life into us. When we die, we return to the ground from which we came. The word Nefesh means living soul. It's also used 4 other times referring to animals. Animals became living souls as well. Also, if we are immortal, we wouldn't need Jesus. Only YWHW is immortal. At the resurrection we receive our immortality through our new bodies.

raymond lindroth I completely agree with you. But, why the distinction between soul death and soul sleep? They seem to be the same. The idea behind sleep has to do with us being awakened in the resurrection.. We are dead in the Hades (the grave) until the point we are awaken by the return of Yahsuah. I think you'd agree, I'm just intrested in why you are making that distinction. Blessings.

Dr. John Barnett, thank you for this detailed explanation on what the bible teaches about passing. I have been bothered for many days, in agony/depression/fear etc, one might say. The thought of dying and just not thinking or being (for lack of a better term) "awake" is terrifying to me. This is, I imagine, worrisome to most people because we can't imagine not having thoughts or existing. When the bible talked of "soul sleep" and having to wait for the resurrection with Jesus it worried me to no end. I mean, that could take awhile right, in theory? The disciples hung out after Jesus ascended and had to be told to go on living, that Jesus wouldn't be back for awhile yet, they had work to do. So too, I imagine it with us. People have been looking forward to Jesus' return for thousands of years, what if its another thousand? I'm going to be essentially unconscious after I die for thousands of years? How dreadful. But your words and explanations for the first time give me some hope. I want and long to be with God, my family members who have passed, etc. It just seemed like the verses about "soul sleep" and having to wait, and the one about being "absent" and "present with the Lord" didn't mesh. I was very confused. Literally have lost sleep for many days over it, so maybe now I can begin to unwind and get some rest. God bless you and your ministry, truly doing the work of the Lord of hosts.

@@lewislinzy3437 John 3:13 must be read in context of what came before and what comes after those verses and with other scripture text. . Jesus was saying none of the earthly teachers can tell you about heaven because none went and came back to tell. Jesus came from heaven and He could tell us because not only was He from there, but He came to earth and told us. And then went back. Also you neglect many scriptures that say people have gone to heaven or paradise already. Mark 12:26-27, don't forget Enoch and Elijah. Also, Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5, and 2 Kings 2:11. You have to read scripture in context. You cannot isolate passages from the rest of scripture.

My biggest fear is that when we die we will lose complete memory of our life, or even worse that we feel nothing and don't think anything- that we are in eternal nothingness. I hope that when I die, the Lord will take me with him and protect my soul. Amen! 🙏🏼

Jesus also said "Do!" Jesus said His work is finished, that doesn't mean that our work is finished, in fact there are more than a dozen passages that say we will be judged and rewarded according to what we "do". (Romans 2:6, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 Corinthians 4:5, 1 Peter 1:17, Revelation 20:12, Psalms 62:12, Proverbs 24:12, Colossians 3:25, Proverbs 11:31, 1 Corinthians 3:8, etc.). We cannot discount our actions when it comes to our own inheritance and reward or lack thereof, in Heaven.

So what do you think happens to the 16 year old boy/girl shot in by a mass murderer, the 19 year olds in car accidents, the 20 year old that is murdered and died instantly, etc. You know where I'm going???...Please don't come back at me with the word HELL in it...and if you do...have a great explanation and not just verses you read in the KJV today.

I'm confused as to why you would say that religion says "do", an then said that "do" = Love??? Because Christ also said that if you love me Keep my commandment" (i.e. DO) (John 14:15). Jesus also laid out some pretty straight forward commandments and things that we must "DO" in order to enter into His kingdom (Matthew 19:17). Baptism being one of them (John 3:5). etc. I guess I may not be fully understanding what you are asking?! For all those that are taken from this earth before their time, as we might presume, are in fact still judged according to that which they did in the flesh. so those young people are still judged the same as the rest of us, because God is no respecter of persons. God does not give different standards to one than to another. and that standard is that we are all judged according to what we know. therefore, for those who know less they are judged less harshly, and those that are preachers and claim to know lots are judged more harshly as to whether they followed what they knew or not. However I think you are conflating two different aspects of the gospel. one is the basis for our salvation, and the other is the reward and inheritance that we will receive once we are saved. Almost all will be saved or gain some form of inheritance in Heaven through the merits and grace of Christ who atones for and redeems us. However, just as 1 Corinthians 15:40-41 states, all those that enter into one of those three distinct brackets of Heaven will receive different levels of inheritance and reward according to what we do in the flesh and that is where our deeds come into play. our deeds determine the level of reward and glory we will receive once we get to Heaven, not that our deeds will either win us or lose us a spot in Heaven in the first place. for salvation is a free gift from God, that not of ourselves lest any man should boast. if I misunderstood what you meant please feel free to explain further so that we can be on the same page.

This was my thought exactly. the 'spirit' was placed into Adam's 'body' and they together became a living "soul". (Gen. 2:7) therefore, the spirit cannot be synonymous with the soul, if the soul involves the body also.

To be absent from the body is to br present with the Lord !

If God spared you he can do the same for anyone who says sorry and receives him. Humans deserve your love and respect no matter how they act. We are all guilty before God without what Jesus has done. You did not earn salvation, remember that.

No one goes to Heaven or Hell until the judgement seat judgements and white throne judgements. Jesus clearly said that Lazarus was sleeping. He was also conscious with God. Jesus brought him back.

The body returns to the dust. But the soul ...the essence of who you are, is either sent to prison or if you will Hades, or to be with the Lord...heaven. Everyone that is not innocent is sent to prison and those that are declared righteous go to wait for the resurrection. If your born again you're declared innocent or if you're not at the age of accountability...you'd be declared innocent. Anyone outside of these two states of existence are held in in prison.

Correct, there is no such thing as soul sleep and never let someone convince you otherwise. Not that it would matter a whole lot in the long run but thats just their way of depriving the good from your death. You will have rest with God in Heaven even after your death, so you dont truly die, just the shell. However as we know Angels are spirits and they have form, they appear human but they glow with a fire a light. I believe we will be similar in form temporarily. We will be clothes with God.

Context Jamie! Paul was talking about being ready to end his suffering. He knew that there was a selfish benefit in dying, but he knew that it was better to hold off on entering his rest (sleep many other places).

@@darthbane2669 Jesus said of Lazarus that he was "sleeping". Also, the witch was able to summon Samuel from his sleep in the grave. That story is in the bible. Our body is in the grave. Part of us is also in there asleep to the physical world until the resurection and judgement day. Yet, we are also consciously aware at the same time with God in either Paradise or Hades until the judgement seat judgements and the white throne judgements. Make sense?

Thank You this has been on my mind for a long time and God gave you the answer to tell me. I always wonder when we die do we sleep in the grave until the day of the Lord or does our physical bodies sleep in the grave. Thank You Jesus for giving me this answer.

You’re “happy place” and the Catholic “limbo” are the exact same concept. A waiting room for heaven, as you put it.

Note:: It is common knowledge to all, that when a person dies, the first sign is that his breath is gone. His breath/spirit that God breathd to his nostrils when He formed man, is the same that return to God who gave it.

The spirit goes back to God because it's the life he gave us and belongs to Him. In the grave the soul will hear His voice.

Our physical body is in the grave. Our soul is asleep until the resurection and judgements. At the same time, we are consciously aware with God in Paradise. The unsaved are consciously aware in Hades.

If that’s what you are saying, then how do you explain the 2nd coming of Christ !? How do you explain Jesus saying that he’s going to prepare a place for us? Why would we need to repent and seek the Lord if we simply pass away and cease to exist? How do we explain when Jesus was resurrected and he was able to eat and have a physical body ? Those verses DONT nullify the 2nd coming or resurrections from occurring just as scripture says they will... And men will decide for themselves which road they walk upon... The opposite of living soul would be dead soul...no BREATH therein...because thats how life began...with a BREATH... When we die we go into the ground and WAIT...asleep...dead to the world..unconscious...till that BREATH resurrects us at the 2nd coming of Christ.

She asked him what time it was, and he told her how to build a watch. Just answer the question with some simple answers, with scripture to back it up. He chattered like a squirrel for 25 minutes.

I imagine someone trying to pick up all the ashes and dust that was their body in the resurrection, and in rebuilding their body be missing parts like an ear or toe or something haha. I can't imagine that this is how it really will be, but we do know that the graves will give up their bodies, and the sea also, so there may be some merit to the idea that the body we once had becoming perfected and raising at the resurrection.

You are wrong. scripture says judgment begins at the house of God and if the righteous be scarcely saved where do the sinner and the ungodly appear? Jesus says we shall be judged by every idle word we speak.

Good lesson for the most part. There is no such thing as Soul Sleep. First of all the main scriptures that are used to try and support soul sleep is from Ecclesiastes that say "the dead know nothing", such an interpretation of this statement ignores the truth that the foundation of the book of Ecclesiastes , that is repeated over and over again is "under the sun". So, it means that the dead knows nothing "under the sun" or what is happening on planet earth. However, people who have died are very much awake and aware of their location and existence. In Revelation chapter 6 when the 5th Seal is pulled, John saw souls under the altar who spoke, conversed, listened and were very aware of their location and where they came from. In Philippians 1:21-26 Paul speaks of being undecided about going to be with the Lord or staying with the saints on earth to further work in the kingdom. Now, he said he would much rather depart and be with the Lord, which is far better, but to continue laboring with the saints would be more needful or beneficial. Now, if there was "soul sleep", there wouldn't be a point of Paul being undecided. If he would die and go into a "soul sleep", then obviously he should stay here as long as possible and work, because his hope of going to be with the Lord immediately if he died is unfounded. He wouldn't be with the Lord until the Ressurrection many, many years later. God Bless, Pastor K. L. Greene

Kelvin Greene Thank you so much! I have sought for a sobering answer to “the dead know nothing” and the book of revelation’s souls crying out. The two did not make sense. Also Paul wanting to go to the Lord but staying to do works. My first influence on this matter was by Jehovah’s Witnesses years ago. I held onto “the dead know nothing” because no one had a sufficient answer. If you read through the many comments, JW or not, many people agree that the soul is what we became via the breath of life aka spirit of God. I agree with this, but I have a hard time accepting some of the doctrines presented by general Christianity and find myself falling towards more legalistic theology because of my JW background. I want to accept grace, but also understand faith without works is dead, as the body without life is dead. If it is okay with you, I’d like to have correspondence with you for some questions I have? I do not know how to turn a public forum on KZread into a private message though. At the same time, keeping it right here may bring positive influence to people! Your comment about Ecclesiastes theme of everything under the sun finally made the point clear; the dead know nothing under the sun!!! Thanks again brother!

@@TheTruthAndTheCross Thank you! Most recently I have been wanting to look at the parables in the gospels. Luke 5:33-39. The common takes are the new wine is new spiritual law/new covenant. The Hebrew roots and those strong on pushing Torah disagree and propose the context of that parable is the oral law and traditions of men are the new wine, bitter and bland. This verse 39 where Jesus says men will not want new wine after tasting the old, because the old is better. So the old is the law in that perspective. I'd like to think the new is better but verse 39 doesn't make sense in that perspective to me. Thanks again for your willingness to write me back!

Mike N. That phrase was “Under the sun.” If you go back before that phrase, “Under the sun ,” is stated. That’s their way of life on earth.

Agree with Junior... they know nothing under the sun. meaning that they no longer have an ability to see the things transpiring on this world. If his kids honor him he does not know, if his son gets a promotion he does not know. they don't take worldly things with them, and have no way to influence or control things of this world when they are out of this world. This doesn't mean that they are not aware of the things of that spirit realm that they now are in. Luke 16 and 1 Peter 3:19; 4:6 show that there is consciousness, communication, and learning in that spirit realm.

Wondering about the part where u are saying JESUS took the thief with him to paridise that day ?? What about When Jesus rose from dead and not to touch him because he hadnt gone to the father yet ??.. so if he hadnt gone to father yet how did he bring thief to there??

Alisa Lauzon I have heard it explained that it wasn't that literal day, but the Day we are all resurrected! No one man has ascended to The Father! Only His Son! So on that day when He comes into His Kingdom that is the day that the thief would be with him. It says that the living do not go before the ones in the grave.....so the thief going would contradict this....what made the thief to go before ALL the others?? Doesn't make sense!

The New Testament was written in Greek. Greek used no punctuation and didn't even have spaces between words.There was no comma in the original Greek text. That was added later and is misplaced. If the comma is placed after the word "today" the meaning is changed. Then it says "I'm telling you now, this day, that you will >eventually< be with me in paradise. Here Jesus is referring to the new earth after it is remade by God the father to be as it was originally following the creation.

This needs to be looked at from two perspectives, from those who are still alive and from those who have died. 1 from the dead perspective, time is no longer applied to them. According to the Bible, when someone passes they go to sleep until they are woken to either of the two resurrections in revelation 20. That sleep is the same as if we were asleep today. We are aware of nothing until we wake up. When a person who was asleep wakes up they are not aware any time has passed until they look around. Same with a person who has died. When a person dies their next conscious thought will be either of the two resurrections. So to the dead person it will seem like only a split second has passed no matter how much time has actually passed since they died. 2 to those of us still alive, however, we are still affected by time. We are living out our lives. To us, the dead are still asleep waiting for one of the two resurrections, even if it has been years and years. So to answer the question , what happens the instant you die? Simple. You will be immediately woken up to either of the two resurrections in revelation 20.

When Jesus rose why did they see the those in the city in bodily form that were not soul sleeping?

If I wait, the grave is my house. Says Job. When we die, we go nowhere but the grave. We sleep until the heavens are no more. It is only at the second coming of Christ when we will be rewarded with eternal life or eternal death. So dismiss ALL the accounts of those claiming to have died and went to heaven or Hell. The word of God should be our only guide, not the testimonies of others. The Bible says "If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. It doesn't matter how genuine a person's testimony of their NDE was.

That was Jobs time before Jesus Christ died for our sins and opened Heaven for us, he clearly said he took those in Hell or sheol whatever you want to call it back with him that were worthy.

The answer to the question is given clearly in the Bible: Genesis 3:19 "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." Where do we immediately go after we die? In the ground, and we become what Adam was before he was formed: dirt. Genesis 2:7 ''And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.'' 1) God made the body ... Where was Adam's soul until this point? Waiting on God's USB flash memory ???? Non existent , the body was not yet alive. 2) God breathed breath of life into Adam ... Did any soul came to enter Adam , to posses his body or whatever??? No ...WHY?!?! 3) ..and man BECAME a LIVING SOUL Body + breath of life = LIVING SOUL. We don't have souls.... We ARE LIVING SOULS We HAVE BODIES. When body is destroyed or breath of life taken = Dead soul, the same state in which Adam was before he received breath of life. spirit or breath of life + all our essence aka consciousness and everything that makes us who we are is put on hold at the moment of death . Jesus clearly said death is just like sleep . You could sleep for just 1 minute or 10 years ... You would experience nothing between going to sleep and waking up,no matter how long you've been dead. instant sense of awakening no matter how much time you sleep .You perceive no flow of time ,nothing , period. The moment you fall asleep you are put on hold , you experience instant transition to waking up . how hard can it be to read the Bible and take it as it is except where it specifically says there is a methapor or parable???

That was during hte ot times, the new times God gave us a far better place after we die. With him, not waiting for him but with him, the next step is to receive our new physical bodies that are glorified and perfect like Gods is. You are deceived overrider. Plenty of proof that we continue to have consciousness after we die, there are scenes in Heaven where people that were killed spoke too the lord.

Please refer to Ecclesiastes 3:20, Both go to the same place they came from dust, and they return to dust. Ecclesiastes 12:7, For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

The bible absolutely DOES teach that the dead rest in the grave until the second coming. There are DOZENS of verses that say the same thing. 1. A soul is made up of two parts: a body and the breath of life. Without one of the parts you no longer have a soul. The unconscious essence or breath goes back to God. Luke 16 is absolutely a parable and NOT meant to be taken literally. It is meant symbolically to teach a concept or theme. In Luke 23, there is a punctuation error in the translation. Jesus is saying "I assure you today, you will be with me in paradise (someday). He is not saying today you will be with me. Proof: Jesus did not ascend to Heaven for 40 days after that. The thieves were taken down and had their legs broken so they couldn’t get away days or weeks later according to Roman records. 2. Sheol is translated in English as "the grave", it does not mean a place of eternal torment. The dead know nothing. The dead sleep in "the grave" until the resurrection. Hades is a fictitious place in Greek Mythology where the dead go (could be interpreted grave as well). 3. We are a MORTAL soul and we don't put on immortality until the second coming. Therefore, there is No WAY we can be in Heaven or Hell until after we receive our reward of immortality. 4. The judgement hasn't happened yet. How can anyone be in Heaven or Hell yet if we haven't been judged yet?

I disagree with you. Surely I say to you today, you shall see Paradise. I added the comma after today. But if you put that comma anywhere else and it makes Jesus a liar. John 3:13 And no one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, even the Son of Man John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God How is it the thief, who should not have a ascended it to heaven according to john 3:13, went to heaven before Jesus did?

@@imaidiot1997 Paradise is the the garden. I don't think that he is there. Paradise is closed to humans for it contains the tree of life. However, it will be brought down to earth after the Resurrection. The dead know nothing. Because the dead have not resurrected yet.
