BUT.. we were saying the same things when Usyk beat AJ. "AJ needs to be more aggressive and he will win the rematch" its very easy to say if fury is more aggressive he will win the rematch. Usyk always has the answer and finds ways to win

Be an interesting rematch now Fury literally has nothing to lose. Different mindset could work in his favour. He might just ‘throw caution to the wind’ and really go at Usyk like he did in the 2nd Wilder fight. My money would still be on Usyk, but I might not bet quite as much!

  • @mickymalibu

Usyk won the first 3 rounds, landed the better punches and fury did nothing until the 4th round, then fury had a really good spell then in the 8th Usyk turned the fight around when he broke Fury’s nose. Anyone that gave Fury any of the first 3 rounds must have been watching another fight, all he did was showboat to try and take away the fact that Usyk was landing clean. The better man won fairly on the night although the ref should have stopped it as Fury was out on his feet and could have been seriously hurt regardless that he recovered after the bell.

I always aks myself what gareths job is or what he is useful for in tbe boxing world. He gives some oppinions or predictions that everyone else can do as well. Is he a commentator so that people just want to hear him talk or whats his role. Is he the interviewer or something. I mean the boxers could talk themselves without a person. The questions are always the same. So I dont really understand. Like is he writing some newspaper or whats his role?

Boxers are seriously damaged when they’re allowed to go on too long. I wish they’d stopped it tbh. I’m concerned that Tyson who won’t be given a pass for taking an easy touch again, although imho that’s the sensible thing, will have lost some punch resistance and although he can comfortably outbox everyone except Usyk, the likes of Usyk could stop him next time and Joshua could hurt him too.

Recentancy bias suggests if fury loses again everyone starts rating AJ as better than Fury. And more so if Fury gets the IBF belt and keeps winning. I can’t see Fury taking that lying down. I see Fury v AJ as a bigger 50/50 than Uzyk v Fury.

Of course not Ali went on to beat frazier in the proceeding 2 fights in a trilogy and is now ranked the greatest of all time. lets not get carried away when its all said and done then we can decide who is the best of the era

@@Anthony.Joshua-s_Irish_Grandma I had it 7-5 Usyk. I could make a case for 6-6 but I can't find 7 rounds for Fury in that fight so with the extra point in the 9th I had it 115-112. The rematch will be interesting because Fury can easily change things up and get the W. It will also be interesting to see how much that fight has taken out of both men. Fighters are usually never the same after fighting Fury. Fury also always performs a lot better in rematches as history tells us but this Usyk is very special

How on earth is Gareth scoring those rounds? Not from the punch stats, that’s for sure. You’d think a boxing journo with his experience would be able to conceal is bias better than that. Usyk landed more power punches than Fury in rounds 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 (with 3 & 4 level.) I don’t believe there is anything Fury can do to turn this round in the rematch. Everything that was supposed to win him this fight (body shots, grabbing & leaning, using his reach etc) didn’t work. Even in 2 those rounds where Fury out-punched him, Usyk was still coming at him, keeping the pace going. And that’s what ultimately did for Fury, having to cope with a constant intense pace and work rate that he’s never faced before. It’s takes its toll mentally as well as physically, which causes Usyk’s opponents to start making mistakes as the fight progresses, leading to what happened in round 9, like it did in the final rounds vs Joshua, and in the 8th vs Bellew and the 9th vs Dubois. There’s no way Fury can match Usyk’s work rate, so what else can he do to about it that he didn’t try to do already, without exposing himself to more punishment? Some have suggested coming in bigger; I say he would struggle even more at that pace with the extra weight and Usyk already demonstrated the technique for dealing with grabbing & leaning. In addition to that, the sustained trauma he took to the head is likely to have taken its toll. His ego will force him to take the rematch but he’d be better off focusing on AJ who he (might) figure out a way of defeating, rather than adding a 90% likely second loss to his record before retiring.
