Muslims, or Moors, ruled the Al-Andalus (the Andalusian region of Spain) from the 8th to the 15th century. We Hispanics have a lot of influence and words we still use from the Arabs, almohada, alhaja, valija, algodón, azúcar, just to name a few words, we still use them in our day to day and were Arabic. But wait!! that’s not all 😂 before the Moors, in Spain the Germanic Visigoths ruled from the 5th to the 8th century , and yes!, we still use words our Germanic ancestor taught us, bigote, aguanta, banco, ganar, líder are just a few of the words in Spanish of Germanic origin. So there you go! I guess us Hispanics come from, well, everywhere 😁 and remember, next time you complaint why you have a stubborn reddish undertone in your hair remember your ancestors 😂
