Good to see someone finally making comprehensive videos on the central tablelands area. Definitely gets overshadowed by some of the other areas in aus but it has its charm for sure

Cheers. It is odd because of its proximity to Sydney. But there is certainly a charm to the area that differs to those other more covered areas.

This makes me appreciate Tassie where digging the rivers is easier and we can get flood concentrates and sometimes do better. Still looks like a fun day out.

That’s on my bucket list. I aim to come down to Tassie and yes, rivers are far more pleasant to fossick in. It’s more like mining at Sapphire Bend.

@jeffholmes1362 And saying that, the old mine dumps here in tas are well worth going through. The hands will be turning blue in a couple of minutes with the water temperature chilling soon. 😢

When was this trip as Saphire Bend is closed until July. Great video with intelligent explanations.

It is was one day before posting. The closure seemed to start at the Sapphire Bend Rd junction and not the Public prospecting area. At least, that's where road closed signs are. Thanks for the feedback as well.

Aaah ok I guess the info centre in Oberon got it wrong. We just came thru there today with the roadworks doing their thing but the lady said the public fossicking area was closed due to forestry work. Oh well maybe next time we're thru there. Cheers.

No problem. There were works along the Abercrombie rd but I was there on a Saturday so maybe it is closed weekdays. The closure sign that was up was just past the prospecting area. So maybe I unintentionally entered a closed area.

You’re welcome. You can hire equipment from the information centre in Oberon. I hope their attention spans match yours!
