Game development has changed so much, the scale of projects is bonkers. In the PS1/PS2 days, Naughty Dog made four successful games for each console. PS3 got 3 Uncharted games plus TLoU. On PS4, we got 2 proper games, plus Uncharted Lost Legacy and the TLoU remaster. On PS5 we've had... Two remasters, and hopefully will get one proper game?

Right. Games either need to get shorter or we slow down on the super AAA style for a bit in order to get more games. Otherwise it's just going to keep getting worse. That said naughty dog working on a multiplayer game for so long that didn't come out doesn't help.

Deathloop, Dishonored, and Prey, all commercially successful games, were made by Arkane. They’ve made one stinker they were forced to make by the studio that shut down them down. So yeah, it’s not very clear why they were shut down when Microsoft is saying and doing the things they are doing. Redfall was the literally the only stinker in all their catalogs.

Where are they? They're taking half a decade to develop because the words Triple A and Ambitious have taken hold of gaming. Greed, and desire for bigger and better, the need for awards.

​@@JsYTA Because that's what people clearly want. Smaller titles just don't seem to do the sales necessary to justify the costs invovled. If it's a big AAA studio, they need to make the big AAA games that people expect otherwise they don't sell. Just look at the recent Xbox studio closures. All it takes is one or two failed releases to sink a studio these days.

However, that doesn't mean PS5 is a remastered PS4 because if you compare both the hardware, they are miles apart. PS5 still hasn't been used to its full potential and so far we have only seen a glimpse of this console's potential through Spiderman 2

Don’t think their approach is bad though. People want games that have attention to detail and push the industry to another level, that takes more backing, talent and time. As hardware gets better it allows for more aspects to be worked on so that’s why you’re seeing longer developments. So you can be disappointed with the lack of games but it’s not for the wrong reasons it looks like.

back then Sony still made mid and low budget games like Gravity Rush, Concrete Genie, Helldivers 1,... (Helldivers 2 is still a mid budget game, so it has 40 usd price tag) but now every Sony game is AAA cinematic games with hundreds of millions of dollars budget, it takes 4-5 years to make and can literally make or break an entire studio they also closed studios like Japan Studio, so no more mid and low budget games

As a uncharted fan, hell no it would be bad If they make an uncharted game, it needs to be either drake again or Sully

Playstation should have make this games: 1. Ape escape (trilogy remaster/new sequel) 2. Bloodborne (update 60fps/pc port) 3. Gravity rush (sequel/reboot)

Its really sad FF7 Rebirth isnt selling as well as it should. The amount of work and heart poured out into that game from the Devs should be rewarded for. If you havent played rebirth you should definitely give it a try! Theres a demo aswell to see if its to your liking.

completely agree. next gen consoles have been a bust. you can play most current PS5/XBOX games on a PC with a decent GPU and run the game on ultra with ray tracing etc at a fraction of the cost due to third party key resellers and steam sales etc. If people were honest the only reason for a "next gen" console is going to be the lack of availability when GTA6 releases

Ghosts, Mad Max, Days Gone are some of my favorites. Why can’t we have more high-quality games? Maybe it’s like the movie theaters these days - they just churn out tons of low-quality garbage to make a buck

In the first 4 months of the year there was Helldivers, FF7 Rebirth, Rise of Ronin and Steller blade. How many games do you want lol. It takes time to develop games.

These people pretend like games dont exist if it isn't "1st party". They really think people who actually play games instead of console warring are doing research to see if they can "count" a game or not by this strange goalpost they've created. You're right, the games have been coming. Idk what they are playing on Xbox this first quarter

Sadly the games industry is going through big troubled times right now with so many layoffs and closures, this only means fewer games will be released and also game dev will slow down quite a bit especially for the big budget games! Perhaps now is the time for more indie studios and games to shine?

Nintendo hasn't released anything and their last 3 Directs have had no new games. They can't even announce the Switch 2. But of course no one cares because it's cool to hate on PS.

Games are over… it’s time to go back in time and do what we did back in the 80s and 90s

They might as well release a PS3/PS2/PS1 emulator for the PS5. At least it would have some games then. Valve should make a home console at this point, given the massive PC back catalogue they have.

My question is where are the Xbox games? Ps5 seems to release more than Xbox.

Not only is the PS5 release pipeline sorta dry, there has also been 0 attempt at first party support for the PSVR2. Dont get me wrong, GT7 is probably the premiere VR game, and Horizon VR exists, but thats it. Thats an embarrassing number of 1st party titles for a device that costs nearly as much as the console itself.

32 or their 49 games were already multiplatform. They only have 6 PS exclusives and 9 Switch exclusives.

If you’ve kept track of games the past few years. It was known 2024 would be a slower year for releases. Always considered this year to be the perfect year for clearing the backlog and focusing on multiplayer games.

Because the budget for video games have bloated so much that one commercial failure can put your company out of business. Plus. every dev. wants their game to have mass appeal which makes no fun for everyone!
