"The best tapas (spiritual discipline) is to walk along the path that has been illumined by the Guru. If you understand Bhagavan's teachings and practice them by always abiding in the Self, you become one with Bhagavan. This is the real Guru bhakti.
In Vivekachudamani it is said, 'Of the crores of paths to realise the Self, the best is bhakti. But Shankara then goes on to define bhakti by saying, "The highest bhakti is steady devotion to the Self, always abiding in the Self." ~ Annamalai Swami

Sri Annamalai Swami (1906 - 1995) was an enlightened sage who lived in Tiruvannamalai, India. He was a disciple of the great sage Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi.
He came to Bhagavan at the age of 22 and served him devotedly for many years. Through Bhagavan's grace and rigorous sādhana (spiritual practice), he realized the Truth about his existence.

"One should weep for God. When the impurities of the mind are thus washed away, one realizes God. The mind is like a needle covered with mud, and God is like a magnet. The needle cannot be united with the magnet unless it is free from mud. Tears wash away the mud, which is nothing but lust, anger, greed, and other evil tendencies, and the inclination to worldly enjoyments as well. As soon as the mud is washed away, the magnet attracts the needle, that is to say, man realizes God. Only the pure in heart can realize God." I have weeped for God many times like this. Being in this world of illusion is so hard and painful at times.
This is the great tradition of Bhakti, one-pointed devotion and love for God. The devotee becomes a fire, burns his karma and dives into an even greater fire, the light of God, becoming One. A Glorious Path of fearlessness, surrendering all that doesn’t matter, to the only thing that really matters, divine essence.

There is nowhere that The Absolute is not and there is nothing that is not The Absolute. All that's necessary is to want The Absolute with all your Heart and mind.
