The implication of Toriyama retaining his body when he travelled to King Yemma's check-in station, for those unaware, is very wholesome. In Dragon Ball, retaining your physical form after death is an honor only reserved for very heroic people. I'm not sure if it was intended to be interpreted as such by the artist, but I found that especially touching, so wanted to share.

King Yemma did say he was Great So, Toriyama-sensei deserves that treatment of keeping his body. He's basically the best thing to happen for Manga If it weren't for Dragonball or Dragon Quest I'd probably have to thank a different Mangaka for metaphorically Training me like The Masters in the series

I got my own little tribute to Mr Toriyama. Since he made the characters and monsters of dragonquest 9: sentinels of the starry sky, which is one of my favourite RPG games, I made a character of him in the game and made him a Paladin as a sort of final salute to the great man.

By now I think Potato has the ability "PICKUP" where it occasionally spawns 20$ bills in its paws... Edit: Noble, you gotta level it up into a higher loot table. Maybe it will bring you one grand someday

Reminds me of that one story of a dude who accidentally trained crows to bring him money. Birds like shiny things, and bread. He kept bringing them bread, and in return they gave him little trinkets. One day, they gave him a 20$ bill, so in return he bought them better bread. The crows realized that the reason they got better food was because of what they brought him, so they kept bringing him money. He was unsure how they were getting it, so was concerned they may have been stealing it. IIRC the story originated on 4chan, so it may not have even been true, but who knows.

For the sake of my sanity, I like to imagine pokemon as being variable in intelligence, but having an extraordinary level of empathy concerning humans. So even if they don't fully understand humans, they can interpret our emotions and intentions well enough to communicate commands and such. Otherwise, pokemon like magikarp would be emotionally and intellectually on par with the humans that eat them and I don't think you want to try and wrap your head around the implications of this.

In regards to why Pokemon can understand humans, there’s a cool theory I’ve taken as canon since I heard it because of how much sense it makes: Pokemon are probably beings created by the wishes, thoughts, and emotions of humans coming into contact with the Eldritch horror that is the Unknown. When in mass, they respond to humans presence by making everything they’re thinking real, as seen in the only movie they appear in, where upon they make an Entei, but can’t make another human. That’s probably why Pokemon are empowered by human emotion (mega evolution), why they grow faster and stronger when exposed to human thoughts and emotions consistently, (leveling up more with a trainer), and why they not only obey us, but canonically act more like their trainer the longer they’re with them. They’re literally extensions of humans, and being with them and understanding them probably comes as second nature. But that’s just a neat theory I heard. 👍🏻
